Evrand placed the ring on Camilla's finger, and tactfully slipped his glove off of his hand as Camilla placed a ring upon his. Evrand swept her up and kissed her in full force, spinning her gently in their place before leaning forward, demonstrating to her and the crowd a true passion for his romantic partner. With this kiss, she was now his wife, and feelings of joy welled up in his being unlike ever he'd felt before.
“Long Live Medan! Long Live the King! Long Live the Prince! Long Live the Princess!” With the priest's proclamation, a fanfare of trumpets followed, and over the roar of the crowd, he thought he could make out his father yelling "let the feast..begin!!!"

And so, on a beautiful and sunny day... Two kingdoms were united. It is assumed that any documents and records were signed to seal the deal behind the scenes. The people were cheering at this joyous event. The bells began to peel loudly to announce the beginning of a new chapter. What would be around the corner next? The people of Verri now had security, as did her highness, and Hylon's borders had expanded, bringing lands with rich history and fertile soil. It was most certainly a time for celebration! Stay tuned for part two of the Royal Wedding: The Reception and celebration. ***

<Enter from Central Square>
Harlen walked into the quiet sanctuary, the sound of his footsteps and the tapping of his cane echoing in the large room. His face, which had been panicked for about half of the walk there, seemed to ease a bit as he passed the threshold of the house of worship. Looking around, he saw no priests or patrons, not unusual considering the odd time he had arrived at. Sitting in a pew towards the back, he sat down slowly, and let out a long sigh. After a few minutes, he reached beneath his heavy coat, fumbling a bit, and pulled out a small leather book. Flipping through the worn pages, he settled on one filled with odd, seemingly incomprehensible lines and circles. He once again looked up and around, checking for others. The sanctuary was still empty, but he didn't know if or when someone may come in. Still, satisfied that no one was around, he began reading the page and murmuring to himself.
He reached into his alchemy pack as he read and pulled out a miniature vial, an iron nail, and a small pouch. His murmuring grew louder as he stood up, taking his book and his supplies with him, and approached the altar. Setting down the book in front of him, he used the nail to prick his thumb and let the blood flow into the vial. He then took a small pinch of a dark black powder from the pouch and added it to the vial. Raising the mixture to inspect it, he moved it slowly over one of the altar's candles. As the flames licked the glass, the mixture began to shift from a dark crimson to a bright purple, and dark wisps of red smoke began to circle above it. Harlen's voice seemed to shift from a simple recitation to something like a prayer or chant as the smoke swirled around his head and down his coat. Soon the thin veneer of smoke covered his whole body, obscuring his more prominent details. Suddenly, he stopped speaking and drank the vial's contents. The smoke dissipated quickly, and Harlen tucked the various supplies into his jacket. He closed his eyes and let out one last sigh, a thin line of smoke coming out with it.
He walked casually back to his seat to pick up his cane and pack, slipping the vial, nail, and pouch back into their case. He seemed much more calm, even happy, and smiled as he walked towards the door. He paused as he passed a polished window. He could see in his reflection two new white streaks in his hair. He groaned, but still smiled. He would deal with that later. He opened the door just as an older woman dressed in commoner's clothes came in, so he kindly held the door for her. As she passed, he looked back at the sanctuary, and almost grimaced, but went right back to smiling. He thought to himself "I'll never trust these people's gods or spirits. But at least they prove useful." And he left.

<Enter from Camilla's Garden>
Arella gently pushed the thick front doors to the chapel open. The interior was dimly lit by candles and dusty light streaming in through colored glass. A serene calm instantly filled her as she slipped inside. Bowing her head, she walked down the center aisle. It was painful in a small way to make the walk, considering how many times she had done it under what ought to have been happier circumstances, but that was then and this is now. She reached the front of the pews and paused before she took a couple more steps to reach the bottom of the shallow stairs that led to the altar. With a deep breath, she gathered her skirt and knelt down on the cold stone. Bending forward so that her forehead almost touched the steps in front of her, she closed her eyes and prayed. Only a few minutes passed, but for her it felt like ages.
When she sat up straight again, she found her face covered in salty tears. She wiped them away and stood up, giving a small bow as she moved off to the side where a rack of candles were set up to be lit in prayer. She picked up five of them lighting each in turn and giving a small prayer as she placed it in a holder. She took another few minutes to kneel before the rack of candles and say another few prayers before departing. She walked back up the main aisle, pausing halfway to look around the building. It was beautifully constructed. Part of her wondered where the priest was. She would find him eventually. Considering her ordeals over the past ten years, she had grown very devout as a means of escape. Giving another sigh of contentment, she continued up the aisle and slipped out as quietly as she had come in.

---------------------------------Dawn of the quest--------------------------------------- Camilla waited patiently in the chapel, seemingly the safest place for people to meet at this point. As soon as she had everyone gathered, she cleared her throat. "I have been giving careful consideration as to how this is to be done. We have four gems to look for, two of which are in places that might be further off route than the others. I also needed to make sure you are all kept as safe as possible." She paused and shuffled her parchment around a bit so she could read from the next. "Jun, Asim (She means the apprentice, he needs to introduce himself and state that he is there in Asim's stead, as she has written Asim down), Jill... You will be in my party. We're to go north through the Usque , and search for clues leading to the first gem which is somewhere in the mountains if I am correct." She looked to each person with a half smile. Then continued on. "Silas, Harlen, and Arella... You will be going to search for some islands. A ship will be provided in New Brimiarde , as well as a small boat for any inlets you might need to traverse. You are to look for clues on the islands you may come across." Another pause as she nodded to those respectively. And then to the rest... "Rakki, Zax, and Okami... You will be heading east into parts unknown. It is rumored that you will find the gem in the Midlands. But you might find clues in the Lake of Dreams. Please start there.” Another pause was given, another shuffle of parchment. “You will be provided with healing potions, maps of Medan in case they are needed, and some rations. Because of the large payout I will be providing, you must provide your own weapons, armor, and any extra supplies. The gems must be brought to Medan in order for you to receive payment. Any thievery of the gems in particular will result in you forfeiting the reward... Your whole group. I will not tolerate it. You are being well rewarded with gold and treasures you loot in your search.” And with that, she looked up from her parchments and said, “If you have any questions, now is the time to ask.”

She has olive skin, dark brown hair ending just above her shoulders, and slight epicanthic folds over her dark almond eyes. Her face is squarish with a small chin. Her skin is dotted with battle scars, and her left arm is heavily bandaged due to an unknown affliction.
Clothes and Equipment: Jun possesses a vast collection of seeds, herbs, insects, and scrolls hidden in various pouches in her armor. These serve as reagents for her multitude of spells. Her armor consists of a customized, long-coat style gambeson that is stuffed with a matrix of seeds and plant fibers. Fitted on top is a set of brass-like, enchanted half armor (chest piece, pauldrons, and tassets) which gives off a warm aura. She has an open-faced, burgonet style helmet and coif of the same materials.
Her most notable "weapons" are Blackbean and Resonance. Blackbean is an elephant-sized demon crow which has served with Jun for many years as a mount and as a bodyguard. A minor enchantment allows him to disguise himself as a regular crow. Resonance is an azure blue longsword with a mind of his own. He can intercept minor attacks and can teleport to his owner. He can also use a personal reserve of magic to aid in the casting of a single spell.

Well damn.Jun quickly went over her things. Bandolier, check. Shiny new weapon, check. Grandma's rig. Check. Rations, check. Medical supplies, check. Map, check. Tampons, check. This was it. "Hey, Harlen, take good care of them, and yourself, ok?" Something about actually fighting him mean they had formed a special bond, and Jun knew he was probably the strongest member of their group. She looked around and couldn't help feeling sentimental towards all of them even though they had just met. She also looked towards her own group. She and Camilla had become fast friends, and even though Jill was a weirdo, she sensed there was something about her worth protecting. She wasn't too keen on Asim's apprentice showing up, because the Inquisition still made her nervous. But she figured she'd have to get over her prejudice at some point. The apprentice seemed nice enough. I'll protect them, she thought to herself. I'll protect them all. When Jun thought this she felt a well of dark energy in her heart which none-the-less felt warm and comforting. It was a common misconception that dark energy was about evil, but in fact it simply represented a different side of humanity. People who were consumed by darkness were often passionate, analytical, and determined people who could fight for the side of good if their feelings were motivated as such. A considerable amount of fuel for her grandmother's will actually came from her dark side. Righteous anger was a very powerful thing, and her darkness would ensure that her anger's will would be appeased... The thought of protecting her friends, as cheesy as it sounds, caused Jun's dark side to resonate with her light side, although she didn't realize it just yet. (What she also didn't realize is that some of that energy and will was slowly being leeched into her club. Nearly all the stones had a faint, undetectable glow to them now.) Jun did have one question though: "Hey, Camilla, what about the last gem? Are we all going to go after it together?" Jun thought about this with a smile. Something about being part of a raiding party going after a magic item appealed to her.

Harlen nodded and smiled at Jun. "Don't worry. I'm made of tougher stuff than I look. Though I do get a bit seasick..." He laughed, making it clear it was a joke. "No, I'll make sure no one gets into too much trouble. And you do the same." He gave her a solid pat on the back and went to his group.
"Well, looks like we're not rid of each other yet. And I have to say, from what I've seen, I'll allow myself to feel a little confident about our prospects. So, one quick trip to New Brimiarde, then off to... Well, who knows where. Oh, that reminds me." He turned to Camilla.
"Excuse me, your grace, but are there any specific signs we should be looking for? I'd hate to spend a week working through a ruin only to realize it had nothing to do with our quest."

"You will want to find out what things you might need in order to find the gems... Text, or other object clues. People won't know about it, as this happened before our time and might even be instrumental into the start of the cataclysm. It would be useless to ask people." As far as the fourth gem went, "The largest group will be looking for that. I have an idea of where it might be located because of some things my grandmother told me, but I don't know the exact location." Her hand went behind her neck for a small rub and she went on to say, "I was told the other two gems will be further away and harder to reach, thus me splitting the group as I have."

His facial structure is nearly fully canine, and he sports a greater number of muscles in his face, which allow him to express a wider range of more human emotions. He has four fingers and one opposable thumb on each hand, with each finger ending in a claw rather than a fingernail. Although he walks upright, Rakki walks with a digitigrade (toe walking) stance, and his feet largely resemble that of a dog, preventing him from donning ordinary footwear. Rakki found himself quite starstruck in the presence of the princess. She was a stunning human specimen, and due to his relatively humble origins the Chimera had never been within 1000 meters of a royal, let alone addressed by one. He was unsure about working with Zax, although he did not protest. After all, his violent nature might come in handy when exploring the untamed wilderness. He had no questions, and he merely waited in respectful silence until his group was ready to depart.

Arella stood quietly among the large group, listening patiently as the names were read aloud and the orders given. She looked over at Harlen and Silas. They seemed to be two decent fellows and she didn't mind the thought of traveling with them. She also found some comfort in the prospect of being at sea. She had always loved the water and never got to spend as much time on them as she had wished as a child. She did have some knowledge of the islands, though. Her father had done plenty of trading during the more mild-weathered summers when it was safest to cross the waters with the valuable cargo he traded in. Harlen walked over and made a comment about their group before asking a very pertinent question of the princess. It had been on Arella's mind, too. But the answer they received was not a very helpful one.
"I have decent knowledge of the islands, Harlen. I think given some time, I could refresh my memory. We won't have much trouble, I think," Arella said quietly to her companions. "We should get some supplies and then head out soon. The quicker we get out to sea, the better."

"I will recount the story my grandmother told Jill, Jun, and me." She said, and then launched into it.
Many centuries ago. There was a young mage, Croeria, who was newly crowned the queen of the Usque. Her ruling was just and fair, for she had the greater good in her interests. As a gift to the new queen, a crown was fashioned, a beautiful twining piece that elves had woven out of gold and perfectly carved, pure of clarity gems... These gems had been borne of different magics from the slaying or maiming of some sentient beings. Croeria did not know this when the gift presented, that the sapphire came from the death of a dragon, or that the ruby came from the feather of a phoenix... She did not know that a unicorn's blood had been needed for the emerald or that the diamond came from the eye of the griffon. Of course, the gems had been plucked away from a group of dark elves, for dark elves and high elves were always at war with one another.
This crown that held these harvested jewels was powerful and could control the environment around for miles. Seeing that Croeria only used her own power for the greater good of the land, she was entrusted with this power too. She was instructed never to abuse this power, for she would be turned to stone by the elder of the tribe that presented it to her.
Croeria did as she was instructed, and used the crown only for keeping the land lush and green in the summers and springs, and never used the fire element unless times called for it. And thus, the Usque forest, all of it, had thrived.
There were many who saw the potential of what this power could do... Some were angered that she only harnessed the magic for keeping a forest green and alive. She could do so much more! She could have all the land to herself! Why is she only interested in keeping one section of the world pristine when there could be something greater??
The day came that those who wanted more were destroyed inside by their envy. Armies were sent from the different surrounding kingdoms, some driven by the proclamation that Croeria was greedy and didn't want to share her prosperity, others proclaiming that she was intending to use this against them all. As the castle was stormed by one army after another, Croeria was saddened by what was happening. Surely they could see that harnessing the powers incorrectly could cause havoc in the world!
So she took the crown from her head, knowing that she could have used against her enemies to win this fight. She handed it to the only person she would ever trust with this item, someone who was fiercely loyal to her, someone who would never and could never harness such power in the manner it was coveted for. Her daughter. "Take it and go... Run, daughter, for you will be in great danger!"
The daughter did as she was told, only looking back with a solemn nod to her mother, for something told her that this would be the end. The young princess disguised herself as a peasant boy and left through the tunnels, and would not stop until she was well hidden where she knew nobody would find her. It was then that she saw the wisdom in melting the crown down and sending the jewels to different locations on the map in secret.
While the daughter was escaping, Croeria moved to stand on the balcony overlooking the fighting men and women. She raised her voice as loud as she could, "STOP! BE STILL!" Her voice was barely audible over the agonized screams and clashing of metal, but she said it again until her voice grew hoarse with the yelling. She used all of what she had in her, casting a spell behind the words for the sake of simply attracting the attention of the greed driven armies below. When they all stilled and silenced, one by one, and all turning as if one unit to look at the pale figure high above, she spoke... "Why are you doing this?" Her voice, though haggard, was loud and commanding... "Don't you see what this has done to you? That you want what you should not have and you are seeking to kill for it? You're all too late, I've destroyed the crown." And she would toss down the remnants of something else altogether, shards that resembled what used to be gems and lumps of what looked like melted down gold, all made so by illusion. "No more! It is gone! Now get thee away!"
Anger and disbelief swept through the crowd. How could it be? This fight was all for naught?
The sound of a lone bowstring creaked loudly, and kerthunked... It was accompanied by a yell of pure rage, "YOU BITCH! DEATH BE UNTO YOU!!!" The single arrow missed, and Croeria fled out of the line of fire...
For three days and nights, the battle raged on violently throughout the land, while her daughter slipped further and further away from the madness. She hid in a cave at one point, and pried all the gems from their mountings, desperate to get the deed done before someone knew that she was holding the item. The four gems tinked to the cave floor and she set about building the hottest fire she could, casting the crown itself in so it would melt away. Her journey from there had her burying the gems out of sight.
The last gem was sewn into the hem of her skirt, and she fled the main land for parts unknown. Nobody knows what happened from there, only that the young princess disappeared and would never be seen again. As for Croeria, she had died a slow and painful death... First tortured, then drawn and quartered alive. Some say her spirit is still felt in the Usque...

Arella felt her blood run cold as the princess told the tale. It was thrilling and deadly, as were many such legends. But this seemed to be more than a legend to Camilla, or none of them would be there. The question that echoed around Arella's mind now, though, was what possible reason could exist to justify searching for these stones if they were so dangerous. She swallowed audibly and continued to comb through her hair, looking back and forth between the princess and the stone floor. She said a silent prayer that these horrific jewels would not bring harm down upon her. Part of her was now terrified of what lay before her and her companions. Under the assumption, which was a bad one, that the gem they were seeking wasn't guarded, then it would have to be very well hidden to prevent any kind of accidental discovery. Suddenly, this quest seemed to look a lot longer than she thought previously.

"I was given the task to restore the lands..." She said, as if to answer the unspoken question. "My thought is that perhaps we could restore the gems to the sentient beings that they came from, or perhaps give them to some guardians in order to protect them because they might be found by others... It is important that they be found to right the wrongs. That is why the reward is so high."

Rakki stepped forward and bowed deeply to the princess. "Your tale has moved me, your majesty. I will admit that I originally came along with this bunch to pursue the rumors of a dragon, but now I am certain that I would gladly lay down my life in pursuit of such a noble cause. You have my unquestioning services until this task is complete!" The canine did his best not to stammer, speaking up like this was not exactly his forte, but he felt as if he simply must make his intentions clear if he was to be involved in such an important matter.

Physical Description: She has long dark brown hair with a gentle wave that extends to her hips. It frames a pale face and a slender, almost dainty body. She is of medium height and has golden brown eyes. She is mostly of human descent, the rest is a mystery from her mother's family.
Clothes and Equipment: Her usual garb is a plain black dress secured around the waist with a golden cord. An intricate pendant hangs from a leather cord around her neck. She also wears a black, hooded cloak fastened with a silver pin in the shape of a crescent moon. Attached to her side is an elaborately decorated knife. In her small pack is a small healer's inventory, a leather-bound notebook, a small pocket with gold and silver coins, and a velvet red ribbon.

Arella waited as her two companions finished preparing to leave. A few clarifications went back and forth as well as some instructions and directions for the first leg of their journey. It was a long way up to New Brimiarde, and that was only to get to their boat. After that, it would be a long sail to their actual destination. Once everyone was ready, they bid the princess farewell and left, headed out on the road north.

"That is because I do not have one. I love the colors of springtime and summer when the earth is lush and fertile, and I love the autumn when the leaves are ablaze. Not very fond of winter colors except perhaps the freshly fallen snow." She smiled. "Are there any more questions?"

Rakki
Established
Online: Arriving at the Lake of Dreams
Roleplay posts: 49
Age: 20
Physical Description: Rakki is a bipedal anthropomorphic canine resembling a lab or perhaps a collie or shepherd of some kind. He sports thick, shaggy brown fur in addition to similarly colored but distinctly longer hair atop his head. Rakki possesses a tail, which is medium length relative to his body and does not drag upon the ground.

Clothes and Equipment: Rakki possesses relatively little clothing and equipment. He is usually clothed in robes made of stitched-together sack cloth, with a simple rope belt to prevent them from coming open. He walks barefoot, but thanks to the thick pads on his feet this usually presents little difficulty.
Other than his cloths, he possesses a rather large bindle made of a stick and a big patch of sack cloth, with small pockets stitched onto the inside. He uses it to carry only a flint, assorted herbs, gauze, any rations, and a small skillet.

"I am very fond of green." He replied to Silas with a sheepish grin, a tad unsure of why he was asking him such a thing at a time like this. The canine glanced back at the Princess with uncertainty, still doubled over in his bow since she had yet to acknowledge his words.

"Do forgive me." (That was my fault, not Camilla's) - "Please rise, you needn't bow to me. I do appreciate your enthusiasm, Rakki." She nodded firmly.
