tories and tales come and go like all else in the day to day social discourse. Thus it may come as little surprise that a new tale, charged with all the history and tantalizing secrets that curious gossip offers, would begin to surface around the fringes of the local tavern talk... It was not likely to be headline news, but in due time, any experienced tavern-goer might hear of it from the shadows of dark corners and stormy nights as the tale slowly grew credibility from the grassroots.
As the legend goes, an ancient dark wizard, Reksath, and his two accomplices, wreaked havoc on a small, local kingdom, the ruins of which can still be found. This wizard became the number one public menace, aided by a magical, spherical device that amplified the power of the mana nearby. Such devices were and still are well known, but are rarely discovered outside of the grasps of the nation states.
A battle ensued, and thereafter the evil was permanently sealed within his own hideout. It is believed that he and his accomplices lived out their remaining days imprisoned within their own cave. As the story initially went, the magic orb was taken upon Reksath's banishment, immortalized on display at the kingdom's royal castle, the display case itself resistant to many forms of physical and magical tampering.
Yet, it has seemed that recent adventurers had managed to crack the mysteries of the object's display case, finally gaining access to the artifact itself. The artifact has since been proven to be a fake replica. Regardless of the long extinct kingdom's intentions, it is now speculated that the real artifact had never truly been recovered and still lies in Reksath's lair. Reksath had been known to be a paranoid hoarder of treasures, and there is some hesitation among adventurers to enter the lair unprepared...
