Grandma notes the guards have little reaction to her words, although what that implies, she can’t yet tell. Noticing the windows with their rather unique use of blood in place of glass, Grandma decides to have the crow enter through the doorways instead, picking the one closest to the animals current position. For now, the old woman simply waits to find what lies inside the fortress.

It's a rather curious fortress. On the inside there is a plethora of demons, with various shades of rot. They are all socializing as if it were one grand party, consuming rotten meat, blighted vegetables and diseased water. In the room is a fountain, spewing out sickly green water. The mass of demons is at least a hundred strong, if not more. The room seems somewhat alive, the floor pulsing, the roof dripping. There are two vine covered doors, wide open, that lead into what seems to be an opulent, if not hideous, throne room.

None of the demons seemed bothered at all by the fact their bodies were in such a dilapidated state. Clearly whoever they served was a demon that used their abilities for corruption and decay, at least, that’s what she guessed based on the state of things here. None of the demons in the room looked like the leader of the bunch, but the vine-covered doors, they looked like they might lead the crow to the source of this place. Quickly flying past the horde of demons, the crow flies into the throne room.

The throne room was a literal room of absolute flesh, with a large, crystalline heart pumping at the base of the throne. There are more demons in here, but their bodies seemed a bit less decayed than the other ones, or.. At least, they seemed to care more about their appearance, with a more.. Artistic view of the decay process, with bandages and gruesome veils. One demon sits on the throne, a pair of courtesans on the armrests. A sword lay at the base of the throne, and based off of the demon's appearance, he was likely the leader, if not for the fact that he sat on the throne. His writhing intestines stayed lock within the very loose ribcage, which jutted out at particularly strange angles. It was curious, they seemed to be alive, sapient on their own. Or perhaps just a trick of the mind.

Grandma decided it was time to speak to the demons. Whether this would result in anything productive was anyone's guess, but she would make an attempt at least. Flying towards the throne and landing right in front of it, the crow cocked its head to the side as it stared at the demon on the throne. The bird opened its beak as a raspy unpleasant voice emerged from it.
“What business does a demon like yourself have in the Overworld? Your constructions are rather obtrusive to the local populace.”
The crow grew silent after it spoke its piece, staring at the demon with unblinking eyes. On closer inspection, he might notice it seemed to be trembling, perhaps in terror of demons before it, but despite this, the crow took no action to fly away or escape its present predicament.

"My affairs are just that. Mine." He said pointedly. "Mortals should not dabble in the affairs of the cthonic host. Even less should the familiars, or shapeshifters." He warned softly. "It is not safe for them, after all. I wouldn't wish harm to fall upon any whom get caught in the cross fire."

The crow tilted its head back and forth in response to Kheroth’s message, staring in silence for a moment. Grandma contemplated the demon's words, before replying through the crow, it’s jarring voice ending the silence.
“You might have a legitimate point there… If you were in the Eleven Hells that is. In the Overworld, I’ll do all the prying I want into the business of others, especially demons. It’s no coincidence I’ve seen two of your kin in the Overworld recently after years of not hearing so much as a whisper from the Eleven Hells. Of course, neither of them were brazen enough to terraform the local environment.
If she was there in person, Grandma would have motioned at the mess of a fortress that surrounded Kheroth, but the crow sadly couldn't make such a motion.
“As much as I appreciate your concern for the safety of others, perhaps you should consider your own first. For a demon of your standing to be in the Overworld, I am inclined to believe there is trouble brewing in your homeland.”

"Are you a leading official of this world?" He asks with the type of tone would use for an old acquaintance. "Also, if you have only seen two of my kin, then you are surely mistaken. We have had a presence in this world for quite some time." He said casually, ignoring the reference to his homeland.
"Would you care for some food for your familiar?"

“A leading official? I suppose I could be considered that, although if you aren’t familiar with the nations of the Overworld I don’t know how much good me telling you my position would be.”
Something about this demon, she recognized him from somewhere. It had been a long time ago but her memories of the encounter were slowly coming back to her.
“If demons from your realm already have a presence here, they must be much more subtle than you and the ornery one I met. Or perhaps too weak to draw any attention.”
Although Grandma hadn’t met any other demons from the Eleven Hells, she did suppose it wouldn’t be farfetched to believe they had scattered their lesser minions around to keep tabs on what transpired in the Overworld.
“My familiar could use a bit of food, but I feel it would become corrupted quite quickly judging by the state of your fortress."

"It would give me perhaps an incentive to figure out who the hell you are," he replied casually. "The time for chicanery is not now, I'm afraid. Any of my underlings that I have sent simply do not desire to be seen. Any other demons may not be strong, that is possible."
He laughed jovially at the last comment. "We hold perfectly fine food for the guests who do not wish to taste my personal concoctions, here," he said, offering what looked like regular bird seed. "If not that, let me know what your familiar consumes." He said with a friendly grin.

“I think my crow can survive without food for the immediate future, so I’ll have to pass on your generous offer.”
Grandma had chosen to respond to his last statement first, giving her a few extra moments to carefully considering where she wanted to go with the meat of the conversation. His identity had finally become apparent to her, but she doubted he knew who she was. He had been too young to remember and it had been a long time since she had visited his homeland, few would remember her there and those that did had no reason to mention her.
“I think you would find the fact I am an old acquaintance with your parents more interesting than my position in the Overworld. It took me a moment to recognize you, but I see you’ve grown into quite the demon, Kheroth.”

He rejoices with laughter, somewhat unsettling the daemonettes at his sides. "Someone of the Brimstone Court? Why, this is an honor indeed!" He chortles with glee. "I'll admit I have failed to keep up with the affairs of the Court, so you'll forgive me for not recognizing you, yes?" He asks, finally reining in his joy. "It would make sense though, I would think! The Brimstone Court, no offense, has never been particularly adept at getting their heads out of their asses, to be frank." He says with a snicker.
"What brings you to my little soirée? With a familiar nonetheless! I wasn't aware that the Brimstone Court even utilized proxy agents for the Overworld."

Kheroth’s reaction took Grandma aback slightly. However, as she considered his words, it was a logical conclusion for him to come to. After all, who else would know of him who he would have no recollection of but the very demons who lived in the same realm as his parents and him when he was growing up. She briefly considered if there was anything to be gained from going along with his inaccurate assumption, but nothing immediately struck her that she could gain by masquerading as a member of the Court to Kheroth.
“Although I can see how you came to that conclusion, I sadly must disappoint you, for I am not a member of the Brimstone Court. I am but a traveler who once visited the Eleven Hells, and to be more specific, the ruling ring. During my time there I conducted some business with your parents that proved mutually beneficial to all parties included. You were but a babe during my visit, but your aura is distinct enough I can still remember it.”
As much as the old woman enjoyed playing a subtle, slow game, she felt being straightforward would serve her better in this instance.

His smiles dims a little, but it is still unnervingly broad. The daemonettes giggle at the idea of their master being but a baby, before promptly leaving, sensing Kheroth would seek privacy. "Oh? Well that would explain the familiar. I give you my condolences, my father is not a very easy man to get along with," he says with a weak chortle, now rather uneasy, still, he tried to hide it behind a mask. "So, what exactly is the nature of your visit, my dear..?" He trails off, unaware of a name, or even the proper gender of his guest.

“You have no reason to apologize, things get boring if the deals are accomplished too smoothly.”
The crow glanced at the daemonettes briefly as they exited before turning its attention back to Kheroth. Its trembling had ceased, although perhaps now it was simply frozen in terror.
“My reason for sending my familiar here was to investigate rumors that reached me, rumors that are far more accurate than I expected. However, I didn’t expect to be acquainted with the creature responsible for this mess… Consider my words friendly advice as opposed to the threat they would have been should I have not recognized you. Those who hold the power in this realm don’t take kindly to disruptions like the one you caused here. This forest wasn’t particularly close to any nations worth mentioning, but in the future, I would suggest you think long and hard before spreading your decay.”

His smile sours, growing thin. "The decay spreads as it pleases. Should the mortals of this plane choose to spread it, that is of no fault of my own. I simply provide the joyous gifts, it is their decision to spread it. Do not threaten me again, lest you be unwelcome." He said softly. "The Cthonic Host does not take kindly to meddling, and my parents would surely not enjoy if I were harmed. Keep that in mind, dearie." He chuckles, albeit with a distinct lack of his previous mirth.

Grandma considers replying with a biting retort but quickly settles on something else. It seems her presence here isn’t particularly appreciated, not that she had expected it to be. She had learned the cause of the corruption, for now, that was enough.
“If that is your wish, so be it. I shall look forward to seeing your decay spread across the Overworld.”
The was a just the slightest hint of mirth in her final phrase. The crow’s whole body spasmed as Grandma departed it, the animal’s corpse falling limply to the ground.

It isn't all that long before something foul has word of it spread, and the Haemorrhage is most certainly fitting of the qualifier. It was thus not long before a Malleus Maleficarum, a Hammer of Daemons heard of the site. Vidkub Wewelsberg was one such person and he approached it from afar with a calm expression about him. Outwardly he would seem like a normal person with upper-middle class semiformal wear. From the outset it would seem he was only armed with a side-sword at his belt and a crossbow upon his back, both weapons apparently simple without any flourishes. It would thus seem almost paradoxical how calmly said man approached the vile forest; but in truth Vidkub was on quite high alert. He smelled blasphemy on the wind, keen ears twitched and angled to better hear even the slightest noise, eyes remained stationary but everything in their periphery was taken in... And of course, the sixth sense.

The trees shift from green forestry to bloody growths of flesh. The soil remained constant, albeit with the stench of iron and the streaks of blood. The animals of the woods were not corpses, but rather.. gruesomely mutated. A few crows, with rotting feathers and gaunt legs. A river of bloody water trails nearby, the fish seemingly skeletal or horrifyingly monstrous.

The hunter was apparently unphased by his changing surroundings, only noting them professionally as an ordinary hunter might note the prints of elk or a bear-ravaged beehive. The animals about him did however give him ever so slight pause. If these creatures were affected by the corruption then surely they were under its dominion in some way? However for now it seemed that they weren't going to try to tear into him. Naturally, he considered the possibility they could be biding their time, but wasn't that always the case for everything? No, instead he proceeded with a smile across his face, only stopping to draw his blade and skewer one of the fish to examine as he walked.
