... Is no more.
As you may or may not know, when we came to the site we had considerably more members. While the group we had were all for world building and coming up with the workings of a fictional government, only two of us stayed behind to man the ship. While I was contemplating trying to run this behemoth I've decided to take action to reduce it to a manageable size.
Some of you may be asking how? After conversing with the Admin I've decided to do a pseudo time skip of sorts. All topics which have taken place and are still taking place will have happened a currently unknown amount of time, probably between 1-3 years before the current time of the site. I will be working to see all open topics through to the end however and I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion I have put upon you. I will be writing, in detail, the events that transpired during the fall of the Solarian Assembly.
But Medsy what will happen to the Assembly? Well, to summarize, a string of events will spell the rise of the slave races, mainly orcs (think LOTR orcs meet worg riding nomads) and Underlings (think Drowish), along with the untimely demise of most of the Solaris family, resulting in massive Solarian losses and huge amounts of refugees leaving Solaria as it would now be known as, formerly Solarian Assembly Territory. What small numbers remain will cling to Antermurale, the last remaining bastion of humanity in Solaria attempting to survive in the now hostile lands. RP in Solaria will revolve around the factions battling for survival and power in the ruins of the once great civilization in a wide spread but skirmish sized campaign. If any government or group wishes to join the fight for Solaria swing me a PM and we can discuss a way to work you and your faction into the time change lore to get the ball rolling.
Ill be working on the change/update for the next few days but as always if you have any questions or queries add me on skype @ Medsy59.

Roleplay posts: 58
Age: 36
Physical Description: Straight black hair, a little long in the front, falls gently like prison bars across soft, uneasy blue eyes and curves gently towards the left temple.
His broad shoulders and robust yet slightly padded frame exaggerate a swagger reserved for much larger men than his own 5'6" frame.
The positions of stark tan lines on his arms betray a man often in the sun but seldom there in working man's clothes.
Clothes and Equipment: Regulus keeps on his person the helmet of his office, a bronze helm shaped like a snake with open mouth, from which the wearer's face is seen. This helmet he more often than not carries under a free arm when not in the presence of lower ranking men whom he is unacquainted with.
He also wears the fine red tunic of his office, though dulled now with time and wear, clasped with a ring made to favor the Great Serpent. This toga is relatively form-fitting, with leather belts (engraved to favor the serpent, of course) at his waist and sewn into where the shoulder meets the sleeve.
Tucked into the belt at his waist is an ornate shortspear, a constant companion seldom needed but ever there.
Tied to the belt on the opposite side is a small pouch, in which he keeps coin, ink, a small journal, and writing implement.
Peaking out from the front left of his belt is a spyglass, and hanging from it by tough leather chords is an iron canteen, dented only slightly from absorbing a sword blow in his greener years at sea.

Medsy also brought up having a bunch of human refugees from Solaria run to the border of the Sanctum Imperium Ivelius. Before any of the locals get uneasy, bear in mind that they're a) all humans who only use fire magic and b) so similiar to us that we probably descended from a similiar culture, and there's just so much RP potential, and c) it'd give the Sanctum political justification to run rough-shod over the new conquerors, to return the solarians to their own grounds. What say you, folks?

So one problem with accepting refugees is that we are already taxed by our current population. Accepting more refugees will stress us further. As the pragmatic and cynical bastards we are, we would know this and the people's plight probably wouldn't tug out our proverbial heart strings too much. We should have a strong political reasoning for why we're willing to accept the refugees, one that outweighs the downsides.

Perhaps strengthening the bond between our two nations to build upon a potential alliance would be the icing on the cake instilling a long lasting confidence in the relationship. It could also be used as a bargaining chip in the future if Solaria is ever reclaimed and the Solarians are in a place to talk politics once again.

That's an excellent point. We certainly have more to gain from the leaders and skilled labor. I could see a lot of advances coming from bringing their pyromancy studies to our pyrophants. And it'd give us a lot of political PR as a good-guy-gang. But it'd be hard to justify to big an influx for just that. Could we have them fall back to the nearest edge of their territory and claim it as our own, protecting them at the cost of tithing or conversion or something? And how would you feel about those, Medsy?

I could certainly see us harboring some refugees, particularly the useful or wealthy ones, but I don't feel it would be within the character of our nation to open our borders for Solaria's huddled masses yearning to breath. We've probably had these guys for three or so years, we could've shoved them into land in the Wasteland and told them to settle there in that time, maybe maintaining enough of a presence to demand a tithe from them.

I think starting a new town may be the best option, possibly make it a protectorate of Sanctum Imperium Ivelius. Are 175,000 refugees?

Yes sir with 1750 combat ready folk too. They could be as self sustaining as the land allows I guess.
We could either RP out the whole thing starting with them entering your lands or have them been settled for a while. Either is fine with me

You guys are like the only people the Assembly had decent enough contact with and are close enough for refugees to safely travel to by foot. I could split then but it make it rougher for me to control the RP and the two or three groups in different governments. They could split into a number of settlements within your territory if that makes it easier?

Head Witch Hunter Vex

Head of the Witch Hunters
Roleplay posts: 8
Age: ???
Physical Description: Average Build.
Average Height.
No distinguishing characteristics.
Tends to wear a small polite smile on his features at all times.
Some people have commented that if it weren't for his armor's crest, they wouldn't recognize him at all.
----------------------------------------------------------
Clothes and Equipment: Varies depending on situation.
His 'work' clothes however tend to be deep red and black hooded leather armor with the Great Serpent and the crest of the Head Witch Hunter emblazoned upon it. Hands are wrapped and protected.
Along with his basic survival pack and horse, he carries with him the Holy Word of the Serpent, a ceremonial knife, anti-magic incense, and a small hand crossbow and a set of bolts dipped in oil.
Rumor has it that Vex sometimes picks up and keeps magical items from his hunts, and some say that his pendent he wears has strong magical properties.

[Vex's response:] "You make an... interesting... proposition, my lord Cleric-Seneschal. However, I would warn that bringing so many... unknown... elements into our kingdom and giving them refuge would put us at great risk for... corruption. Allowing potential infidels to exist and spread malicious rumors about the Great Serpent and our Glorious Emperor while living under our protection would be an abomination in the sight of the Serpent... Might I be so bold to suggest allowing myself and a few select Witchhunters to investigate these refuges thoroughly and... neutralize... and potential threats to our kingdom, my lord?"
[My response] Yeah, sure. Bring them in... Sounds like fun and adds another roleplay element. I am all for it.

The fact of the matter is that our empire would struggle to support that many more mouths to feed. I think it would be interesting to clash cultures and whatnot, but I can't think of a good reason why my character would support it. I'm in favor of harboring a select few who could be useful, but no more then that.

I think a Selection-style village of the old empire's greats would be pretty interesting. The others could try to disperse and assimilate into the Sancturians, create a pretty cool tension, and seeing all the similarities it wouldn't be very difficult. But yeah, in-character it'd be tricky to justify allowing settlers to mass-congregate within our borders. There are a few military terms for that, few of them positive. A few smaller shanty-towns that stay low enough below the radar could probably pass.

Hold on. We are having trouble justifying their merge now... Why don't we rp it? The refugees appear at an out lying town asking for aid from the Imperium.
We can then rp and find out if the two nations can agree or if we start a conflict. Either way, interesting rp all around.
