Vermin. He'd called her vermin. Her blood boiled at the mention, greatly offended. She had worked hard and carried the family name and the tradition of her father and uncle proudly in Katashima - and now she had been reduced to something lower than an animal by these people. If she had the strength, she would have been more than happy to make an attempt on the bastard's life.
But she could do nothing as she was dragged away in a pitiful state and tossed into a dark hole - a fate worse than the cage she had been transported in. The darkness was terrifying - it had been in the darkness that the worse horrors had been inflicted. In isolation, the only sound of comfort were the voices of her tormentors in her head - it made her wish for silence. She lay on the ground, tightly curled up in a protective ball and weeping quietly - hoping that the shadows wouldn't appear, that she wouldn't feel their hands on her skin again. When her only solace came from a sliver of moonlight, she shakily crawled over to where it touched the earth and carefully rest her head near the spotlight. It became her lifeline until the morning, the thing to ward off the impending darkness of this miserable cellar. She struggled to eat with her hands in their current state, but she managed - desperate for nourishment. When she cleaned the bowl and quenched her thirst with the last drop of water, she collapsed by that ray of hope and tried to rest - trying to replace the nightmares of the Shogun with dreams of her family.

A pink kimono is accented by the red trim of her lower hiyoko layer, an ornamental display of feminity in what was otherwise a men's cut of garb free of the constrictions of traditional female clothing. Her hakama trousers were the deep color of violet, with a display of light rosey flowers bedazzling the hem of the left leg.

Hour of the Rat - Inaba Kiyomasa, Tika Seya"I see.. and your family name is on this list. It marks the most loyal retainers to the Hizashi clan that had been lost." Inaba hadn't forgotten about the bandits, but he had already written that report and would advance it through the appropriate channels. But this was highly important. "You say you are the last survivor..."
He jotted down one last thing, and then looked up to her. "This has its implications. And they're serious. Look. I'm tired. And I really wanna get outta here. I need you to do me a favor. Don't tell anyone that you came here tonight. If anyone asks tomorrow morning, tell them you just arrived and left my office. And when tomorrow morning comes, I need you to take this letter to the House of Falling Blossoms Tea House and present it to a man named Omura. You stand out like koi in a crystal pond. He'll know to recognize you, and he'll introduce himself. Arrive alone. Do not bring anyone with you into the establishment."
He handed her a letter, sealed with the official seal of the Kiyonai Magistrate. "Yes, yoriki. I promise." While sitting, she bowed quickly, to display commitment to her word and her task and also to conclude the meeting. She would not stand until he did, and not leave until his instruction. But provided he did, she would go back out to the central market district of Kiyonai.

The next morning, a small handful of police would come to Ketsueki. She'd be pulled from the cellar, as she had been nourished but not yet had time to recover, and one of the young samurai would gesture to her cage, allowing her the decision to go by herself in dignity as the light of the sun revealed her to be conscious and mentally wary.

The sunlight was blinding when she was dragged out of the dark hole of a cellar, forcing her to cover her eyes under she was left on her knees - and she wasn't in dirt. When she managed to ease her eyes against the hard light she found the samurai pointing out that bamboo cage... that pitiful little corner.
There was no way she could do anything but what they asked. At least someone was kind enough to not shove her in. Despite how it hurt to move, she would manage a painful hobbling crawl into her the cage - trying to find some way to sit that was the least uncomfortable. From here... she didn't want to think about her near future.

Yet she'd find it difficult not to, as the guards draped an ornate cloth over her cage, to conceal whatever it was that four servants hoisted upon their shoulders by means of the wooden rods alongside the bottom of her cage. With her unable to look out and others unable to look in, she might find some comfort in the solace. Yet some time would pass in which they were most certainly not headed towards the river... and while she may have been expecting to see Reisui prison sometime in the near future, the sounds outside would suggest they've instead reached the edge of the city, passing through the gate and out onto a country road... yet never did it lead to any water... so just where was she going?

The man moved on from the gates, tearing down the roads until he found the designated office of the magistrate. He would bring the animal to another hard halt and dismount - looking for anyone that might be able to help him in his search. This was still unknown territory for him, and things weren't like they were once. But, of course, things like this ran on a system. He just had to find the right place to stick his foot in, and trip the right man.

(My apologies for being late. :( )
Eventually, the man would come upon a small compound that was the local magistrate. Here, men carried the forked weapon known as the jitte, along with their swords. These samurai served as the city police, and reported to the magistrate. The junior magistrate in charge was Kiyomasa Inaba, and he had just finished his return home from the Hizashi mansion...

The best he could do upon arrival was approach a samurai on duty for aid or direction, since he was still in unknown territory.
"I was told to come here - I'm looking for someone that might have been brought through here. A woman."

"A woman, you say? Well, we see a lot of people here, for sure... please, follow me," he said after the two met in the courtyard outside the office. Kiyomasa took Akiyama inside and sat down before a low table, gesturing for him to do the same. Once they were all situated, Kiyomasa grabbed a set of scrolls from a corner of the table and opened one up to begin. "What did you say the name was...?"

The man followed along at a brisk pace, seemingly a touch impatient but quiet all the same. He lowered himself to sit on the other side of the table as instructed, hands resting somewhat easily on his knees - though he had trouble keeping his fingers from twitching as he watched the junior magistrate with a thin gaze.
"Her name would be Akiyama. Ketsueki."
