The zombies retreat into the wastelands scattering in all directions. Clearly this wasn't the best place to attack, they needed to regroup and find where this land kept its dead.

The zombies retreat into the wastelands scattering in all directions. Clearly this wasn't the best place to attack, they needed to regroup and find where this land kept its dead. Zhiode scoffs in derision, her sword and shield falling to an open stance at her sides. "Look at them run. Did they not realize the enemy that they faced? Not realize the strength that Ískaldur holds?" She scoffs again, swiping her sword through the air before her. "Idiots. The least they could have done was fought to the end. There is at least a small honor to being smote by our swords. Instead they choose to flee, and die an honor-less death by the cold. I suppose it only suits them." She turns and floats to the gate, her weapons still at the ready.

The warriors of Ískaldur, having succeeded in driving back the invaders, slowly retreat back into the walls of their capital. Some of the stronger vikings and Mineraali free the people trapped underneath the chunks of ice, and help them hobble back to the safety provided by the walls of Ískaldur. Others begin gathering the incapacitated bodies of the zombies, putting them into large bonfires where either the viking mages or a Valkyrie would set it alight with magic. The messenger that had arrived with Nineteen (The Crimson Book) approached one of the vikings who was directing the others and seemed to be in charge, holding a brief conversation that none could quiet hear. Once that came to a close the messenger then went back to Nineteen. "ho, thee can cometh on ov'r anon. Beest careful howev'r, those gents might not react well to an undead."

On the occasion that he is drug into an event that requires some formality, he has a more pristine set of clothes that he can don, embroidered with the seal of Ískaldur, and a mantle with ornate clasps from the forge of Eldavél. To top it off, a finely crafted and engraved scabbard for his sword.
Beyond his clothing, Thrand possesses a rather ordinary shield and a magic sword with a shard from the Heart of Odin embedded within the hilt. The sword is both a national treausre and a symbol of his status as the King Chief of Ískaldur, and thus Thrand keeps it by his side constantly. However if he were to ever find himself in a situation where he would have to engage in combat, he’d much prefer to go with a mace before the sword.

Nineteen (The Crimson Book)The remaining Vikings and Mineraali seem to tense up as Nineteen approaches, watching him with wary eyes. The only thing that stops them from springing into action is the words of the messanger and the commanding viking, who repeatedly reassures that he is not dangerous. Eventually they get back to work, but suspiscious glances are still thrown his way. One such look originates from Thrand as he watches the skeleton with the messenger from a short distance away. While from what the messenger said it would seem like Nineteen wasn’t involved, none could be certain. The fact they showed up at the same time didn’t help Nineteen’s case much either. “Oi, skeleton, come on over here. There’s a couple things I need to ask you about all this.”

Nineteen (The Crimson Book)Thrand looks over Nineteen quickly, glancing back at the burning piles of corpses every once in a while. “What relation do you have to those zombies? What do you know of them?” He asks initially, adding in a not very well concealed threat. “Tell the truth, or you’ll be joining them,” he gestures with his head to the bonfires of the dead, “sooner than you might expect.”

Nineteen (The Crimson Book)Thrand walks a out of Earshot to Nineteen and beckons over one of the Mineraali who had been on duty, and began asking him questions about the events While the mineraali seemed much larger and powerful than Thrand at a glance, their behavior conveyed quite the opposite impression. Thrand’s questions seemed to cause the Mineraali to flinch, and he would reply nearly instantaneously in a tone that did little to hide the hint of nervousness. After just a few questions, Thrand turned around and walked back to Nineteen. “It appears that some of zombies had crystals, although they seemed to have escaped and we don’t have any of them to show you.” He pauses. “Do you really have no connection to these attackers?”

Nineteen (The Crimson Book) Thrand narrows his eyes. “Since you know of him, how about you take us to him?” He phrases this as a question, but it is very clear from his tone that this was less of a question and more of a command. “If you have no objections we’ll be moving out soon enough.”

Nineteen (The Crimson Book) Kirith strides over toward Thrand and Ninteen, white eyes locking onto the skeleton. She stops at Thrand's side, lowering her spear and planting it into the ground. "...is this the one who sent those rotting things to pollute our gates with their corpses?" Her head tilts to one side, dark amusement glittering in her white eyes. She nods at Ninteen once, and shadows fall on the group as the four Valkyries circle above them. They can move startlingly fast for armored people it seems. "Ah. It talks, does it? Does it know who sent these...things, assuming It's not the sender itself?" Kirith glances at Thrand, and then back at Nineteen.

Your master...or your foe?" The Valkyries behind do not move toward Nineteen, but stand solidly, clearly indicating they will not let him leave until he speaks.

Kirith, the Highmother Nineteen (The Crimson Book)Thrand looks over as Kirith approaches, acknowledging her with a curt nod before turning back to face Nineteen. “He claims to know the being who sent the undead, but he for some reason is unable to point us in the direction of the person he claims did this.” Thrand doesn’t bother to hide his suspiscious tone, rather making it rather obvious. He nods as Nineteen brought up the possibility of the supposed being scrying. He turns to Kirith. “Do you think it is possible find the location of this unknown being if he is currently using magic to spy upon us?” Thrand himself didn’t know much about the intricacies of magic, and so defaulted to asking the person he figured knew the best.
