Naith the Black

The Hunting Legion - Grim Riders
Roleplay posts: 12
Age: 35
Physical Description: Naith is stout, standing 6 feet and weighing 200 pounds. The man is built like an oak tree and few other men match his strength. He has dark brown eyes, almost black it would seem. His rough beard is often trimmed, and his he has a receding hairline.
==========
Clothes and Equipment: Naith typically wears a combination of mail and leather armor, with black clothing. A large silver pendant hangs around his neck that is imbued with magical energy, although he does not know how to tap into it.
Naith carries a very special sword on his side, which he has named Greaver. Greaver supposedly belonged to a great warrior, a hero of sorts, until he was killed by Naith. Naith now carries the fallen hero's sword around first as a trophy, and second as a weapon. Greaver is light, easy to wield, and very well made. Naith suspects the blade is not made of steel, but some other special material. Like his pendant, Greaver may hold magical powers but he is not sure how to tap in to them.
UPDATE: It has been discovered that Greaver is, in fact, made of kordanite.

Naith nodded at Nat'ia and climbed back up on his horse. "We shall set up camp not to far from your own. I'll return and discuss any important matters with you, should they arise." If that was all, Naith would bit the kobold farewell and trot off with his company to a suitable place for camp. They within seeing distance of each other, but not to close so as to not anger the kobolds.

The troll lowered his head and bobbed it up and down in what was a subservient guesture in his culture. He had wanted 50 people, but as long as they had enough wagons it would be ok. Sollix was pleased that the human would come on his own will and even more so that the kobold who had just volunteered would be the leader. Even a troll knew it was much better to have willing companions. “Good. We will go, now. I just the guide. Get much treasure. Human me-di-a-tor.” Sollix thought he knew what that last word meant. The trolls eyes lingered on the shinning gold and jewels. Such a hoard was already a fortune and the thought of many times that was truly awe inspiring. His gaze drifted to Mordane then Oobie Doobie, finally resting on Nat'ia. “Huk huk huk.” The soft throaty laugh held a tinge of menace, but perhaps that’s how it always was. The negotiation was over. Rolling up the map, Sollix left the tent. Once joined by his new companions Sollix would make the formal introductions in his broken common, then help with the preparation. The journey would be long so the team had best leave as soon as possible.

@huntinglegion Ketsueki was beginning to panic. Everywhere she turned, there were eyes glaring directly at her. She couldn't hide, and she was skidding to a halt just to change direction as her options for running ran slim. The next option was the Gnoll and Kobold ahead, though they were likely to turn in the next second with the commotion following in her wake. She didn't care - she had no choice. She charged, already panting in frantic and desperate exertion. She would likely have to try to crash one over to get by, and opted to try and shoulder the Gnoll with her body in hopes of catching them momentarily off guard... and hope that reptile wasn't paying attention or quick to grab. Had she tried to shoulder the Kobold, it might’ve worked to knock him down, the Gnoll was taller and more heavily built than the kobold, however because she shoved the gnoll and didn’t get near the kobold, when the lizard dived he could only wrap his hands around her legs/ankles for a brief moment, likely not enough to trip her. The Gnoll however staggered when he was rammed, but reached out to grab @ketsueki’s arm as she tried to run by, slowing her down and trying to keep her still. He’d need another hand to grip her before he could completely stop her, but for now he attempted to drag her in the opposite direction to slow he down while the Kobold got on his feet and more Legion members closed down on her.

@huntinglegion
The grab to her arm was more effective than the Gnoll thought - it was enough to redirect her momentum to circle him rather than continue onward. She had been deterred, and now was even more frantic. Her free hand went to the one clasped on her arm, trying to pry his fingers open. In addition, she leapt up to aim a butterfly kick to the side of his head using that change in direction - hoping one, if not both, of the kicks would land and break his hold; it was also an attempt to break the meager grip on her legs by the Kobold. Even if she didn't have the power, she was banking on potentially catching them off guard.

He pulled towards himself with what strength he had, hoping to pull the woman off her feet so she fell face first onto the ground in front of him. The crowd of legion members that were behind her almost caught up, and few who had heard or seen the commotion were beginning their approach to surround her from where she was originally running towards. The bandits jeered and said rather rude insults about the ninja and her race while they approached. It was clear chasing her wasn’t too serious, but more of a game of tag to them.

@huntinglegion
The moment she found the opening to bolt she took it - and she ended up face first on the ground with a hand clenched over her face from the hard landing. She had been so certain on escape, and the grip on her ankles hadn't been expected. Needless to say, her face hurt. She struggled to keep from making a sound, despite the jeers and calls from the beasts circling were loud in her ears. Her patience failed and her temper flared, to where she yelled back at them in her Katashima tongue, and proceeded to try and pull her legs free of the vice-like grip - clawing at the earth to try and pull herself away.
Being the object of their entertainment, their games... it was demeaning. And she hated it. She wanted to get out more than before.

Being the object of their entertainment, their games... it was demeaning. And she hated it. She wanted to get out more than before. After a brief moment she’d be able to get her feets to slip away from the kobold’s hold and move a few inches away. However as this happened, the gnoll she kicked had recovered from the shock of her kick, and decided to give her one of his own. He stepped in towards her side while clutching where he was hit with one hand, looking to quickly kick her right around the kidney to keep her on the ground. All the meanwhile a very eager goblin ran forward ahead of the group on the opposite side of the kicking gnoll, and with a whooping screech, tried to dive right on top of @ketsueki’s back, trying to slam his elbows down on her upper spine. Seeing that the kobold lost his grip and was just out of reach, he would try to push himself up and off the ground. Some less eager bandits started to surround the downed woman, as more caught up to spectate the ruthless wrestling match.

@huntinglegion
The blow to her back ripped another pained yell from her and she fell still on the ground, trembling as she waited for that new throbbing pain around her kidney area to null... sadly, it would do no such thing. In the next few seconds there was a blinding pain up and down her spine from those pointed elbows on the little creature, which took her breath away at the excruciating pain. She was unable to even scream. She felt paralyzed from the blows, and it all but hurt to even try to extend her arms again to crawl further. Trying to move her legs was just as much a chore.
Yet she managed to push her arms over her head once more, and drag herself just another inch or so before it was too much to do. Desperation had done much to get her this far, to not black out or just give up entirely. But she could barely move until the shock of the hits eased off. All she could hear were the jeers of the growing crowd, and it somehow gave her just a little urge to push harder. She strained to crawl further, covering very little ground yet again.

The kobold got up, but didn’t intervene upon seeing @ketsueki not try and fight back, the gnoll and goblin had her for now, he took a step back and jeered. “Da bitch can run, but she can barely fite!”The Gnoll did a similar action, giving her a step of room, mainly so he could reach up into his mouth and pull a bleeding and broken tooth from his jaw before spitting on the ground and tossing the tooth aside. “You outta pay fer dat.”The goblin laid on the woman’s back for a moment, quite comfortable there, before booping the back of her head with palm, then used her backside to push himself up so he could stand over her and taunt. “Come on m’lady, make meh work for dat! Don’t give it to me!”It was clear now that she was completely surrounded with no easy way of escape, as bandits and spectators blocked every direction. She may have been trapped, but she could still fight.

This had degraded to nothing short of a bandit's brawl and she was in the middle of it... and the goblin laying across her was just an insult.
For the first time in a long while, she felt her blood begin to boil. She managed to push herself up onto her hands and knees and turn her head - slowly and deliberately. She was taking in her surroundings. The kobold at her flank, hyena at her left and the goblin standing straddled over her. The gnoll would easily be able to see her eyes, angry and almost wild, peering through the fallen strands of her hair as she looked around.
Her gaze settled on the gnoll...
She would lash her left elbow back and up, looking to rack the oni standing over her. She had a fair feeling these things weren't quite the mystical creatures of legend, and might not stand to such a hit. Even if it did, she was prepared to roll over and lunge up with her hands, looking to grasp it by the throat in both hands and try to force him down to the ground with her. At least to try and get him off his high horse over her. There was doubt she could actually choke it unconscious, but she was desperate enough to try.

The Gnoll saw her burning eyes, it made him smile, a bit of a challenge for once. He was eager to get in there. The bandit over her saw she got up on her hands and knees, this made him laugh. “Haw, look at mah new pony! Giddy-” Swiftly the woman’s elbow pulverized his family jewels in one motion. His voice jumped up a full octave. “AHHHWEEEEE- huk.” She easily grabbed him by the throat as he clutched the delicate remains of the thing that once existed in his groin. He’d be tossed aside and onto the ground squirming and sprawling towards the edge of the crowd until he made it through and disappeared amongst the wall of bandits. @ketsueki was clear to stand up now, but as she got up it seemed the kobold wanted to go first, so the gnoll let him step up to the plate first. He waited for this woman to stand up and face him, slowly circling his fists in a mockingly way.

She got the goblin to go away. Thank goodness for that. She managed to push herself up onto her feet, stumbling as she fought to remain upright. She was becoming more aware of how worn down and weak she was. She turned and came face to face with the kobold.
How was she going to deal with this one? Right now, he wasn't doing much other than waving his fists. Perhaps this might be simple.
Despite any teaching that this was completely rude and unlady-like, she spat on the ground at his feet and took a single wavering step backwards - keeping her eyes on that reptile.

It was her and the lizard for now. He stopped with the mocking gesture of his fists, and prepared for an actual strike. It was clear these bandits didn’t have a proper form or technique, instead they taught themselves sloppy way of fighting, or just didn’t have one. The kobold decided to step in range, throwing a basic narrow hook with his scaley right fist towards her abdomen, looking to stun her. His left fist was still in front of him, looking for any counter attack, and also ready to try and stop any slow fancy stuff she may try. The crowd only got louder as more hits and actions happened.

This would have been tricky, but she was committed when the punch was thrown. There was no counter attack, per se, but she would guide the strike off to her right with her body coming in around his flank as she leapt up. Her legs swung to latch her left heel over his far shoulder with the other leg coming around beneath his extended arm to wrap around and join the first - latching her ankles together in a tight headlock upon his left shoulder while she pulled on his arm with both hands. Assuming she managed to make the grab, the weight of the two of them would likely bring them down to the ground... sadly, landing her upon her back and causing her to seize up from the amplified pain of the impact. But it would make it damn difficult for her to let go until he passed out, if not longer than that.

The kobold was completely unclear of any technique she was trying to perform, and thus would pay for it. In a near blink of the eye for him, the ninja wouldn’t have too much of a problem seizing her legs around him and bringing both of them to the ground. Once she started pulling on his arm, he grunted and tried to stop her with his free hand by trying to dig the claws on his hand into the thick flesh of her leg while kicking in a desperate struggle of his own to get away. It was unlikely this would cause her to let go though. The crowd didn’t seem awfully pleased about @ketsueki ’s fancy hold, didn’t make too much of an entertaining fight to them.

Vash the Black
Established
Roleplay posts: 40
Age: 15 (About 30 in gnoll years)
Physical Description: A seven-foot-tall, four-hundred pound ball of muscle, fur, and teeth. Vash is a gnoll, a hyena-like humanoid known for their slaving and marauding. His fur, charred by phoenix fire is now blackened. In the thick of battle his eyes have been known to shine red with an inner light of ferocity.
Due to a rather intense run-in with a phoenix, Vash's face and much of his stomach was terribly scared, leaving him with one milky white eye. To cover the melted flesh and exposed bone he wears a metal mask over his face.
----------
Clothes and Equipment: Vash wears plated metal armor, but little else in the way of adornments. Has been known to occasionally wear trophies of particularly fulfilling battles, but his lack of sentiment and forgetful nature means he often loses or abandons them, leaving farmers and peasants to find gruesome remains at times.
He carries with him a flail he's affectionately called Meteor, which, exposed to great heat, has unleashed new powers. Namely the ability to create a spinning wheel of fire. It also deals additional fire damage with every blow.

At first the shambling, awkward gait in the distance may have been construed as some wounded creature, limping towards the forest of tents. Such a poor creature would likely find more than it was looking for. The Hunting Legion was hardly a kind place, after all. As the figure closed the distance, however, that awkward gate appeared closer to a lope. Perhaps it belonged here after all. The gnoll's thick, matted fur soon became to distinct to any who may have been watching, the seven-foot-tall monstrosity approaching quicker now that its eventual goal was in sight.
Vash knew that he'd likely be confronted by The Hunting Legion's [ @huntinglegion ] patrols, though he hardly looked in the mood. Already he cast about impatiently, lip curled up over a vicious set of foul teeth at the thought of an interruption so close to his goal. His fellow gnolls might have cast him out, but surely the Hunting Legion he'd heard about would be receptive to his power. All he had to do was prove his strength, surely, and they would be begging him to join. Even offering him a high position! His fantasies were short lived, however, as he came within stone's throw of the palisade walls. He doubted they'd be sending an army out to face him, but attempting to wander in might give the wrong impression.

@huntinglegion
The claws tearing right into the flesh of her calf made her groan loudly through clenched teeth in an attempt to keep from yelling out. She wanted to let go right then and there, but if she did she was certain she was done for. She latched on tighter, completely oblivious of the gnoll still around, and pulled his arm out as hard as she could - looking to either incapacitate him or pop his arm out of slot if possible, whichever came first. Granted her strength was waning, but desperation was a good motivator. She blocked out the yelling of the company watching the fight, focusing intently on the task at hand.

He doubted they'd be sending an army out to face him, but attempting to wander in might give the wrong impression. As the massive Gnoll made his way towards the wooden wall and it’s gate, he’d find little resistance from any sort of basic patrol wandering about outside the fortifications. They assumed that Vash was already part of the legion, even though they’d never seen a Gnoll as large and unique as him. Even had they known Vash wasn’t part of the legion, they didn’t want to get in his way and receive a mighty hit from that flail of his, he wasn’t causing trouble or looking for any, so they might as well keep their distance. The meager gatehouse and it’s heavily armored defenders wouldn’t allow this Gnoll to pass with such ease as the patrols did though. He’d be stopped by the goblins, kobolds and fellow gnolls at the gate before he could enter. “Oi!” shouted the goblin captain as the other fellow guards readied their heavy polearms, “What are ya goin’ in for?”There was a moment of pause as the goblin tried to identify who that gnoll was, it wasn’t anyone he’d ever seen. “You’re a new face aren’t ya?”He didn’t seemed to be fazed by the gnoll height difference of two feet compared to him.

Soon enough the clawing ended and a quick observation would note that the Kobold was unconscious, as he slumped to the ground with a final exhale of struggling, still between @ketsueki ’s legs. Now that the lizard was no longer struggling or awake, she could focus on the gnoll. As she might roll or kick the limp body of the lizardman off to the side or away from her, the gnoll interfered. He attempted to step in and swoop down to grab her around the neck with one hand and raise her to where her feet would not touch and squeeze her windpipe. Should he miss, or @ketsueki become out of range, he'd take a step back again to keep his distance for when she got up.

@huntinglegion
Ketsueki strained to tug herself from beneath the limp body of the Kobold - only to find unwanted assistance. A yelp in alarm was cut short as that thick hand latched about her throat and squeezed, and hoisted her up above the ground. She struggled to breathe, hands clawing desperately at the one at her neck. In an attempt to try and get the Gnoll to drop her she lifted her remaining good leg and aimed a kick for the side of his head.
