Greater Houses
Owaru Family
The liege-lords of the Owaru clan, they are the leaders both in court and military affairs and often serve as generals or courtiers in the imperial court. Their holdings are mostly inland at the footholds of their border mansions, stretching from Ryoka Owaru to Mizumi no Aishiti.
Horu Family
The artisans of the Owaru clan, they were once a merchant family but have since attained samurai status as many became master swordsmiths. They are the youngest of the greater houses and often serve as courtiers or artisans.
Ikoto Family
The Ikoto are ambitious and dangerous, using a mastery of iaijutsu and their inherently strong force of will fed into their belief in the rightness of their actions to serve as courtiers. Their renowned skill with a sword also makes them excellent yojimbo.
Kaidoji Family
A quiet and restrained family, considered morose and somber by the rest of the clan, they are the priests of the ancestral worship cult widespread in the Owaru province.
Lesser Houses
Raion Family
This family chose the wrong side of the civil war within Katashima, they had historically struggled with the Owaru family for dominance over the clan. It was only after the Morimoto won the war that they lost most of their lands to the Horu family and their status as a Greater House.
Matsu Family
Beserk samurai, they have been bred to produce the largest and most powerful bushi shock-troopers for the Owaru Clan. Due to the prevalence of gigantism and inbreeding in their family their fertility has dwindled and their numbers have followed.
