Wulfenheim
Nestled in the lowlands of Valland is Wulfenhim, the ancestral home of Clan Valgard and one of the oldest settlements in Asgeir. The wealthier inhabitants of the hold reside here, including smiths, craftsmen, and tradesmen. The Jarlessa, Aesa Jojora, governs Valland from within Wulfenheim Hall, alongside her warriors, advisers, and household. An ancient stone wall surrounds most of the settlement, with outlying farms spread around the outskirts. As is custom in Asgeir, Wulfenheim boasts its fair number of warriors, shield maidens, skalds, and more - and many of them unwind at the mead hall: the Blackened Bitch. Aesa Jojora is protected by the Wolfguard, some of the finest warriors Asgeir has to offer who excellent cavalrymen, and are known for their black wolf cloaks.

The Knight of Vengence travels here and walks into the settlement. He had heard rumours about the sword Gormr, and was ready to try his hand at obtaining it.

A brisk wind would welcome Knight of Vengeance into the realm of Asgeir. Winter had waned, retreating to the tops of the mountains and the northernmost reaches of the northlands. Spring had arrived and was ready to exercise its seasonal power. The snow had melted, giving way to the birth of new life; flowers blossomed, trees sprouted new leaves, and the fields turned green. Despite Spring’s arrival, however, Valland was still chilly, with freezing rains and crisp mornings; such was the grasp that Winter held over the northlands. The Knight of Vengeance would find the old town of Valland nestled in a defensible valley; Wulfenheim Hall towered above all other structures - a sentry for its civilians and farmers. Old stone walls had stood the test of time and resisted the destruction of war. “Halt,” one of the guards at the gate’s said, approaching the Knight. “What business do you have here?”

I have heard rumours about a legend."

“Gormr?” the guard repeated the man’s inquiry. He turned to look at his comrade, who shrugged, and then returned his focus to the Knight. “I know about the legend of Gormr. They say Hemhildr used it to slay the serpent Slivr - but succumbed to his wounds. But before he died, he drove Gormr into the stone and asked the Old Gods to keep it there until a worthy hero came to retrieve it. This way, the Mountain Tribes could not use it against his people.”
The other guard nodded, “those people would be our ancestors.”
“If you want to know more,” the first guard continued, “perhaps you should talk to some of the locals in the Blackened Bitch. It’s the local inn, center of town.” The guard moved aside so as to let the Knight continue unmolested.

The rumour of a legendary sword had fascinated him. These legends were rarely true, usually just foke tales, but there was no harm in checking. Still, he had traveled out this far north and he hoped he could get something in return. He looks around the town before he finds the Blackened Bitch.
