Roy's eyes widened in surprise as Grandma opened up a portal and put the chicken in it. He had no idea she knew magic, and was positively shocked.
"Wow, Grandma! I didn't know you could open portals like that! Must make things a lot more convenient, huh? I bet it makes groceries easier, anyways."
Still scratching his head, he urged the cart forwards and through the gate. That was nice of her, putting the chicken somewhere safe like that. What a nice old lady. It seemed that she had some skills he hadn't known about.

On her wrist is a silver bracelet with a ruby in it that Grandma uses for telepathic communication with others in its network.

Ah, that was right, Roy didn’t know she could cast spells. She had forgotten that in the fight with the Jotun, she had obscured her spell casting from Roy and Vera. Many knew she could cast spells though, and in this situation she didn’t particularly mind if Roy was one of those people.
“Why yes, it does make the groceries much easier to move about. Also has very good applications for disposing of garbage and whatnot. Disposing of waste in a city as large as Isra can be quite the challenge at times.”
Grandma offered Roy one of her warm smiles as she spoke, appearing completely jovial and carefree for the moment.
Giving a nod to the gate guards, Grandma continued studying the general populace as they rolled into the city. People watching was one of Grandma’s favorite pastimes after all.

Quietly, without fanfare or significant ceremony, The Western Gate is shut and all fortifications are closed, in accordance with orders issued to close all gates until further notice. Any and all individuals wishing to enter or exit Isra must first receive the explicit approval of the guards, or risk being detained.
Additionally, reinforcements arrive from The Citadel and take up positions along the walls, an air of readiness about them all. With these reinforcements, it would be somewhat difficult to sneak one’s way past, over, under, or through.

A white carriage rolled up to the gate, driven by a nondescript chauffeur. Robert Fletcher sat inside, wearing a well-tailored white suit. On the floor at his feet sat Bennik, his pet white peacock. Looking out the window, Robert fed the bird a cracker and watched the guards. It had been a while since he'd been the city of Isra. His business exporting his uncle's chocolates out of Port Silverion had gotten a little dull, and he wanted a new challenge. He'd heard that the city needed a Minister of Primary Industry, and figured that he would be a good candidate. After all, he'd managed to run Ozmodias until he was attacked in his home and forced to flee. The country itself collapsed soon after, through no fault of his own. The guards seemed to pay the carriage no mind, and they rolled right on through into the city.

In the distance, from the sky, a black speck seemed to zip to and fro as it grew larger and larger... the guards would be alerted to the sudden arrival of a flying black thing. It was something small, and something fast... and something headed straight for the walls.

A soldier, one of many atop the walls, happens to be taking a short break from walking back and forth to consider the complexities of life, the great problems of our time, the big questions.
Such as, “It’s chilly. I wonder if it will snow.”
Seeking evidence upon which to base his conclusion, the soldier peers upward, into the sky. He notes that it is rather cloudy, but not excessively so, and the clouds are dark and heavy. Precipitation of some sort is likely, he begins to think. But wait. What’s that, there?
Something black and moving far too quickly for how large it seems to be at this distance any sort of terrestrial bird. Intrigued and somewhat startled, he stands up a bit taller and squints, attempting to get a good look at it. He concludes that he cannot, at this distance, but based only on what he’s aware of so far, he feels as if it would be a good idea to mention this to his comrades. Calling the nearest of his fellows by name, he points, and makes a casual sort of inquisitive comment, seeking the other man’s opinion.
The other soldier looks and is much quicker to make a judgment about the state of things and how he feels they (as a group of soldiers) ought to handle this situation. As such, he begins yelling about as loudly as he possibly can, with the intention of calling a great deal of attention to this black-zippy-not-bird-something.
A state of tentative alarm is raised. Not quite so much as to alert the whole city, but certainly enough to raise the soldiers in and around this portion of the wall above a state of unawareness. Some begin to fumble with their weapons, but there remains a feeling of uncertainty, and some fear of the unknown. It's certainly not a griffin, at least.

It begins to slow, tilting its flight angle to expose six spindly legs to the rugged surface of the stone wall. The insectoid creature suspended itself in the air with the use of massive wings proportional to its three feet in length, much of which consisted of a frightening spine affixed to its tail. A low but loud buzzing as it grew near would exacerbate any instinctual human aversion to big, nasty insects, and it landed, just four feet from the ramparts, tiny alien spines upon its grotesque legs helping it remain affixed sideways to the wall.

As the creature approaches and proceeds to alight upon the wall, our friend the soldier isn't entirely certain what to think. In an effort to reach some manner of suitable conclusion, he decides to get a better look.
Taking a few steps over to the ramparts, he places a hand atop his helmet to hold it on and proceeds to lean over the side and observe this strange creature.
There it is, he supposes. It's awfully large for an insect, in his opinion. It certainly doesn't seem like any sort of being he's ever seen before, but it is decidedly insect-like, he decides.
At this point, our friend remembers that he does not like insects, and proceeds to lose his lunch over the side of the ramparts.
Simultaneously a short way down the wall, a small group of a few soldiers have gathered together and are preparing their crossbows. As soon as they can all finish drawing, it is their intention to peek over the side and stuff the monstrous creature full of boats. Further away, the news is beginning to spread, and the wall as whole is quickly rising to a state of alertness.

The giant arthropod seemed indifferent to its spectators, its wings quieted and revealed to be similar to those of a massive dragonfly. Its single mandible formed an an almost jaw-like mouth, and it seemed to lack the giant compound eyes expected of an insect this size. As though on reflex, it lifted its spined tail just inches from the ground, so that its slightly serrated, barbed tip didn't drag upon the ground. It took off and flew again, its wings buzzing loudly and displacing a noticeable amount of air. It headed back towards the distant treeline from which it came.

Nit had (so far) managed to pass into Isra peacefully and quietly, until he came upon the giant gatehouse of the city. He called up through his thick cloaks and robes to whomever was manning the gates in his best hooman voice. "Oi, you dun best let meh through to yur boss, cause I've gotz real important... things to do! Yea."Legion Master Zhax sent Nit out here specifically because he wasn't the smartest one of the bunch.

[The wartime restrictions on the civil right to self-movement are lifted, allowing travelers with no ill intent to pass in and out of Isra as they please. Isra’s standard rules of border passage now apply fully again.]The gate before Nit spontaneously opens, granting him entry. The guards roll their eyes but ignore him. He seems delusional, this one. Either that or stupid. Perhaps both. They’ll let the Citadel Guard deal with him if he’s as insistent as all that.

Above the heads of the guards who watched, a bird of nondescript size and nondescript plumage flew overhead. No longer a seagull, it was some sort of forest bird, a little smaller than a crow but larger that the sparrows that pecked at eaves and bugs.
It was just flying. A flying bird. A little shadow on the ground that was there, and then gone.

Lookin' for trouble!

Age: 21
Physical Description: This playful satyr seems to be of rather average height, quite shorter than the strong men of the human realms standing at 5'5'' tall. His body is that of a young man, though his thighs begin growing thick fur, ending in goat legs replacing his human ones, which along with his horned head, make his species quite apparent.
Though quite fit, and decently hairy, he doesn't seem to favor masculine features that much as he seems to prefer a more easy-going and youthful demeanor.
Clothes and Equipment: Certainly no warrior, this adventurous satyr travels the world with little less than the revealing clothes on him and his beloved necklace. "Oi! It's people and stuff!" The young satyr would be celebrating to himself as he ran towards the gates, more than likely stopping at the harsh look of the guards that'd cause him to try and straighten up for a minute. Minute that doesn't even end before the goatman seems to swagger forward with unnatural confidence as he fingerguns at the guards with a huge grin, "Greetings, my metallic friends, I come in peace and was told this was the best place in the realm for a starting out bard like myself to explore. If you'd be so kind of informing me on the protocols to enter this fine city I will be more than eager to collaborate." He winks, leaning on one of them.

Niko perks his head up in acted shock, "Trouble?" He scoffs, "Of course not!" He lies his ass off, "As for magic, I probably wouldn't be here if I'd done well on my magical studies." He says, reminiscent, looking at his nails, "I'm no better than a stage magician. I'm completely harmless, I promise ya! You could rob me naked right now and most I could do is cry and beg." He smirks, "But that's why brave, strong men like you are around, ain't it?" He says, tilting his head a little as he rests it on one of his fists, giving them the most innocent look he could achieve.

The guards listen absently. "Mmhmh." Humor is evidently above their pay grade.
The guard that spoke initially jerks his thumb over his shoulder, toward the city. "Then have at it and cause no trouble."
There exist no further restrictions to enter the city.

Reese sighed as the carriage stopped at the city gates, “Traveling on the road is so tiresome, don't you agree? If only we could just pop from one place to another.” The journey from Port Silverion to Isra had tired the french aristocrat. He looked forward to finding a bed at a nice inn to return to after a long libation.
