A large fortress on the western edge of the Kiyonai territory, this sturdy structure looms over the surrounding area, keeping watch over the farmers that tend the crops and serving as a checkpoint for those seeking to proceed into Kiyonai domain. The border is manned but access is open. Peaceful characters may pass through without awaiting a response.

Walking slowly along the road, a man with two swords who was by himself, possibly a ronin, would pass the fortress if he was not stopped. This was the major way in and out of the province and he thought to travel the land and find himself a good place to be. If only there were an inn nearby...

Five horses traveled toward the fort; two of the riders were Quy, coming from the Quying Province as translators and guides for the three very foreign riders. They were Sakandi, and gold seemed to glint subtly on all that they were wearing. Even so, it did not seem as if any of the riders were intending to come off as wealthy, but more so as comfortable. The gold seemed to be a matter of their culture, and not an intent to show domination or power -- a simple fact of life for them. Two men and a woman, the man in front seemed to have a face that was sophisticated and always set into an expression of quiet amusement -- not as if he were constantly laughing at the foolishness of man, but instead taking subtle joy in the beauties of life. As they parted through the lands to see the winged tops of the fortress, Jamil -- for that was the name of the leader -- quietly marveled. "What a feat of architecture," he said in Sakandi to his compatriots, the Quy guides (who were also warriors, gifted by Daimyo Akagi Zuikaku). "This land seems almost as if from fairy tales. A land shrouded in mists and wing," Jamil further spoke, giving in to a bit of flowery whim.

The woman that traveled with the Sakandi Emissary had her thick hair in braids, tipped with gold beads. Her skin was a smooth light caramel, and her Sakandi eyes glinted with the carnal secrets she held within them. She rocked with the pace of her horse as if she were born to the saddle, and she chuckled quietly as @jamil marveled at the fortress they were coming upon.
"You are becoming a poet in your old age," Zakiyah spoke in Sakandi. "Be careful, lest these people think we are performing a spell, then arrest us and behead us for our majic." Her thick lashes lifted and her exotic eyes took in the building they were approaching, then glanced at the fields around where people were bent to their task.
Zakiyah had never seen so much green before, but refused to allow a look of her wonder on her face.
"Quying is the only place that has so far promised to respect us, Jamil," Zakiyah continued.

A small group of seven riders would come up to meet them. They didn't seem to show any sight of wanting to show aggression and the Hizashi banner was waving in the wind. Word of the small group of foreign travelers had reached the Hizashi mansion and the decision had been made to meet them along the way.
Sayuri would be in the front, sitting elegantly on her horse. Her long hair would wave gently in the wind and she was dressed in a red kimono with yellow accents in the embroidery and a yellow obi. She would smile gently as the horses came to a stop. "Genji-sama, the Daimyo of Kiyonai would like to welcome you as honored guests to our beautiful province of Kiyonai. Because of his busy schedule, he sends me, Saryui Hirayama, his soon-to-be wife, to meet you and escort you to the Hizashi Mansion. " she would speak to them in the common tongue, only a slight accent in her words. She was practiced in the language. "We hope your journey was smooth and without trouble. If you would follow us." She bowed deeply, keeping the conversation political. If the Sakandi would show sign that they were willing to follow, she and the other six would turn their horses and make way for the Hizashi Mansion.

"Perhaps," Jamil responded, keen eyes picking up the group of riders that were coming down the road toward them. "Perhaps not," Jamil finished, still speaking in the flowing Sakandi.
When the outriders came upon them, Jamil looked as sophisticated and approachable as he had been on the Port of Quying. He seemed the sort of man that was born to be an emissary, the sort of person that could easily be spoken to and who would make no quarrel, the sort of man who could communicate with commoner and king alike.
He replied to Sayuri in his own accented Common, Zakiyah and the other Sakandi male quiet and patient behind him, as well as the Quy riders.
"We are surprised but pleasantly so by the invitation," Jamil said, for they had sent no word of their travels before hand. "It would be honor to be guests as Lord Genji's table, and to make your acquaintance, Madame. I am Jamil alHabid of Sakand, Emissary and voice of her golden highness, Emira Fairuz of Sakand. With me is Zakiyah, Sabina Majeh of Sakand, and if it pleases Madame, we may speak in your native tongue. Before we arrived, we were educated, albeit neither of us can speak as beautifully as you do."

Zakiyah fell quiet, the reserved woman with all those carnal secrets in her eyes vaguely amused where she sat upon her Sakandi horse. She looked upon the faces of those who appreciates, nodding her head when Jamil introduced her. She said not a a word, however, and followed after the others as they were led into the fort, content to let Jamil be the mouth piece.

It was true that no word of their arrival had been send from the original source, but the Hizashi clan had many ways to know who was coming where. They had been spotted by scouts and word had reached the mansion soon after. After learning that the people were of Sakand heritage, it became important to meet them.
"I am pleased to make your acquaintance as well, Jamil-sama, Zakiyah-sama." She would bow her head down to both of them as she adressed them in turn. Sayuri had decided to switch to the Tawakoshian tongue. She normally would remain in the common language to honor that her guests weren't from her own country, but it would be easier to express herself in her native tongue. She would, however, speak slowly so her guests would not have any trouble following her words.
As the small group set their way towards the Hizashi mansion, Sayuri would stir her horse to ride next to Jamil. The other guards that she had brought with her would form a protective shield around the group, so that they would not be bothered by anyone else. "It will be a few hours before we arrive at the mansion I am afraid. Please enjoy the views while we travel, I always find it very soothing to watch the trees sway in the wind." she would give them a gentle smile. "What gives us the honor of receiving you, Jamil-sama?" she would ask after a few moments. Even though they had heard of their arrival, the purpose of it had been very unclear.

Jamil was a man given to a quick study of people, a man with an accurate judge of character but a slow hand to judge. His intelligent but warm brown eyes seemed to be smiling at Sayuri, even if no such smile was present on the handsome line of his mouth.
He was content to guide his Sakandi steed alongside Lord Genji's betrothed, keeping at a pace alongside the moon-faced woman. The standards of Tawakoshi beauty were different than those of Sakand, but he could still appreciate and notice when the Tawakese thought something especially beautiful. He had a feeling Sayuri was just such an example.
"The Emira of Sakand has sent her niece, Lady Asherah, to marry the Daimyo of Quying," Jamil spoke in Sakandi-accented Tawakoshi, surprisingly well adjusted considering how different the languages were. Then again, it seemed predictable that a man of Jamil's bearing and airs would be so educated. "Sakand and Quying are entering a beautiful relationship, and while they prepare for the wedding, the Emira wanted me to travel and make contact with the rest of Tawakoshi. I am fascinated with what I have found, and whom I have met so far," Jamil lightly flirted, a harmless attempt more so made to further break the ice than it was to test the waters.
"We have heard good things of Lord Genji," Jamil continued, keeping the conversation positive.

Zakiyah continued her quiet mien, her Sakandi eyes dancing with humor. Like Jamil, she smiled with a glance, but hers seemed much more sly, much more teasing... As if she had a secret she could tell you, but only if you came closer.
Exotic and seductive, her long lashed gaze looked at the guards that now circled around them and took note of the Quy guides that traveled with them.
Jamil's smooth and sophisticated speech earned a soft laugh from Zakiyah, and a glance traded with their third Sakandi compatriot. Still, however... The woman with the braided hair, golden skin, and sly, fox like eyes kept her quiet yet one couldn't help but think she was a cat on a ledge, focused, and their tail swaying back and forth, back and forth...
Ready to move.

The Sakandi sure were interesting to Sayuri. Even though she had learned the common language, she had not often been able to put it into practice. Outsiders had been rare in Katashima and seemed to be just as rare in Tawakoshi. She had heard of the wedding between a Sakandi woman and the Daimyo of Quying, which had surprised her due to the normal Tawakoshian customs. The relationship between the different provinces had yet been established as Genji hadn't been in Kiyonai for a long time. She wondered about the sudden search for contact through the hands of the Sakandi.
She would watch them with her bright blue eyes, many men had told her how they reminded them of a calm blue river or even of a bed of freshly fallen snow in the morning light. The way their bodies looked sure were very different. The dark skin and the dark thick hair on the Sakandi was beautiful in its own way. They looked like they had bathed in the sun all their lives and their faces were a lot more slender and long then was the standard of beauty in Tawakoshi.
"I have heard of their betrothal. I hope you won't take offense when I tell you I was quite surprised the Daimyo was marrying to a Sakandi woman. Many people in these lands are still wary of foreigners. It was a risky step on his side, but I am sure it will be rewarding to all of us. Nothing bad can come from forging relationship between us and other lands and it might even persuade our people to start being more open minded. I hope she had found happiness in her relationship with the Daimyo." she spoke gently with soft and gentle voice, still speaking slowly to honor their guests. She was quite impressed with their Tawakoshian. The betrothing hadn't happened that long past so they must have learned the language fast.
"Lord Genji is an honest man with many ambitions. He has a heart for his people and tries to act on their well-being. I am sure he will be pleased to hear of your arrival and the relationships you wish to forge."

" Daimyo Akagi Zuikaku met @fairuz some time ago, in the empire of Isra," Jamil offered amiably as he continued to guide his Sakandi mount beside Sayuri's own, absorbing the information she spoke of... Reading between the lines as well. "It was through this chance meeting that they developed a respect for one another, and the reason why the Daimyo chose Lady Asherah." He stopped, then laughed. "One of the reasons. Lady Asherah is like her aunt; beautiful and clever, and both are traits that Daimyo Akagi appreciates, among others. The Sakandi have found Quying to be very open and embracing of change and progressiveness. It has been a pleasant and wondrous surprise that the Quy people have been so accommodating. The Sakandi culture can be..." He trailed off, a grin coming across his features that he shook off, before turning his twinkling dark gaze onto Sayuri. "Let us just say, I understand your surprise, and I will not be offended if your Lord Genji is more circumspect in his dealings with us than Daimyo Akagi." The shadow of the fort came upon them, but if Jamil was intimidated, it did not show. He was appropriately impressed with the architecture however, pausing in his conversation for a moment before beginning again in his smooth voice, his accent making his Tawakoshi dance. "Forgive me if I am rude in asking, but should I address Lord Genji as Daimyo Genji instead? And are there any titles I should be using for you, Lady Sayuri?" Jamil seemed genuinely interested in knowing.

She and the other Sakandi native continued to follow after Jamil and Sayuri's horses, their Quy guides behind them, and Sayuri's men flanking them from every angle. The Sabina Majeh was quiet, but there was a reservation about her that did not imply shyness at all.

She would listen to his words carefully and remember the details that she thought could be of importance to her later. She would ride gracefully and with a straight back. With every movement of the horse, her long hair would move along with it and create ripples as if her hair was alive.
"I am glad you understand, Jamil-sama." she bowed her head slightly again towards him, happy for his understanding. "As to addressing my soon-to-be husband, Lord Genji will suffice. If you wish to be true to Tawakoshian nature, Genji-dono is also one of your options." the mansion was creeping up on them and soon they would come upon the main entrance. "As for how to address me, Lady Sayuri is fine." she smiled a warm smile and would rush her horse on slightly so she would be at the gate before her guests.
<Exit to the main entrance of the Hizashi mansion>

Who takes notice hawk? A simple bird of prey? Soaring from the start of the horizon into the blue without a single care. In a world with so many incredible and fantastic things who counts the aviary?
Wings flapped with a heavy push as the brown and white-feathered fiend sailed through the forgiving winds. His direction seemed to be that of a nearby tree. A simple overhang of green and life.
It was of little consequence to the farmers and travelers as they went about the normal routine of the day. Unremarkable things hide in basic uninteresting packages. Something fell from the branches.
A small girl tended to a fence might have glanced over and she may or may not have sworn she spotted something peering back at her from behind the trunk. Glowing eyes and a mischievous grin. A second glance and it would have been nothing more then a day dream.
From that tree produced a slow walk. The walk of the weary a thick brown torn and sewn together cloth covered a slow moving figure. A person with great injury or wound that had caused a eerie step? The elderly sometimes walked with such a hunched sway. If someone was just passing eyes over in partial interest it might have seemed like nothing.
A determined stare? Inspection might have revealed more. That ordinary staff he was carrying was fine gold and red. It looked ornate! A heirloom of some sort? What a fine thing for a beggar!
Toward the fort the figure swayed and was that a tail that whipped out under the cloak before vanishing like a snake waiting for prey? Back and forth the figure bobbed heading inside unless interrupted.

And a small girl there was. Rin had been playing on one of the nearby fields, trying to chase butterflies and catch beetles until she had noticed the figure in the brown cloth. Her curiosity had been peaked and she had started to run in its direction as fast as her little feet could carry her. Her little kimono was already partly muddy and wet from the dew when she finally got anywhere near there. The ribbon in her hair is slightly crooked from all the running. She didn't even realize it was odd that the figure was walking there.
"Sir! Where are you going? If you want to visit the town you should go that way!" she pointed her little finger towards the opposite direction as to where he was going. A big smile on her face. She didn't even realize yet to who exactly she was talking as she had not seen his face.
