Empress Naoki is a curvaceous woman of average height, indeterminate age, and catlike features. Her hair is a dark auburn, often pulled back into a long braid. Her ears are both soft and fluffy, and her tail is never less than perfectly groomed. Amber eyes glisten in the shadows cast by her hair.

Naoki's wardrobe is to her as a frame is to a painting. Sometimes embellished with detail to be attractive in its own right, but never the focus. Usually simple but elegant, tightly fitting and highly revealing, used only to frame the beauty within.
Additionally, Naoki is, when clothed, often adorned with a small collection of accessories. She wears an earring, a brilliant cut amethyst, in her right ear. The silver signet ring of Isra is worn on her left pinky, marking her as High Lady of Isra. Directly adjacent, she wears the golden signet ring of The Isran Empire as its Empress. On the inside of her left thigh, there is a tattoo depicting a rose entwined with tentacles.

Alright, so here’s a question. In asking, it’s my intention to start a bit of discussion and get people thinking. This is open ended, so interpret it as such.
What is your one piece of advice? One nugget of wisdom, one suggestion. What would you say? What do you feel is important to impart on an individual, critical to be said, heard, and heeded? Related to whatever you’d like. Could be contextual. A suggestion for life, for habits, for an activity to start or to stop, or perhaps something just as simple as a movie recommendation. What is it?
And then, why? Elaborate on it some. If you have more than just the one, have at it, but I feel as if making a list would diminish the value of it all. I would then encourage you to share your thoughts on what others have to say.

Age: 31
Physical Description: More or less average size for a Northlander, he has dark red hair and green eyes on a face that years and experience have not been kind to though one can see that there have been some recent improvements; he has a naturally very ruddy complexion. He has a thick but short beard, as well as poorly groomed but naturally straight growing and thus easily maintained hair. He is vaguely athletic from farm-work and manual labour though perhaps his stronger muscles are not the ones most important for combat.
Clothes and Equipment: Thick robes, scripture of all sorts, crosses, a large staff with four steel flanges to appear like a cross and a box chained to a thigh that he never lets go of that doesn't seem to open no matter the lock-picker, magics used or the reverse. Under his robes is a thick steel collars and various bits of blood-drawingly tight plate upon the man, and it is not certain whether they more harm or protect the wearer. He carries as well some basic herbs and alchemical equipment, accordion, and a bottle of steel-melting stuff he refers to as "holy wine."

Get fit, or at least make an effort to do so.
From being a wet noodle to someone as chunky as... something very chunky it's not good either way. That said, don't go in over your head and get intimidated by difficulty or simply shyness after seeing those more fit.

Well, I certainly don't feel qualified to give anyone any advice. I find life advice is one of those things that can't really be imparted. You can learn facts and figures, or even certain ways of thinking, but I honestly believe that you have to make the big mistakes in order to learn from them, and even once you know something is wrong, life still seems to find a way for you to follow the wrong path regardless. Obviously, crack cocaine is different, I never needed to try that to know it was a bad idea.
I would love to travel back to my 11-year old self though, and tell myself to put a lot more effort in at school, and take it much more seriously. When I was about 13 we had to take "options", this is basically where you decide what subjects you're gonna take, and I made some ridiculous choices based on what my mates were doing, or what the girl I fancied was doing.....Not really the right basis for forming the rest of your life! (Didn't take Computer Science...became a web developer.)
Wait, what am I on about, I do have a piece of advice. Listen to more Led Zeppelin......and don't do crack.

Don't give up.
That's it, really. Whatever you do, whatever goal you're trying to accomplish, whatever happens in life that forces you into a situation you might not be comfortable in. There is no greater piece of advice, no single sentence that can have more of an impact on the life of the individual and society as a whole.

Improve your password security.Passwords are a massively important of today’s culture and social systems, but many people are unaware of how easily simple passwords are cracked. I could explain some of the dangers myself, but instead let me reference this and this other xkcd, which touch on two of the most important points. But then I would also reference this video which goes a few steps further- it goes on to not only explain, but demonstrate some of the methods used in cracking passwords. It’s quite scary, in my opinion, watching it crack thousands in the space of a few seconds. (The same channel also has some other good videos on the topic.) The takeaways being to use a password manager, don’t have short passwords and use a password manager because that’s the way to do it. Continuing with a personal recommendation, I’ve found LastPass to be a good password manager. It’s rated higher than its competitors, has more features generally speaking, and I haven’t had any issues with it so far. I would implore each of you to look into the topic.

I would like to add to remember all the security links on your accounts. Is your main email linked to another email for security purposes that you forgot about and has a weak password? Where possible, use security links that are difficult to exploit - such as your phone number for text messages; but always have more than one. I lost access to an account last year because I had an authentication app on my phone and then broke my phone. A good idea is to have your mobile phone and your house phone as security back-ups and if the service offers you some sort of un-redeemable recovery code that you can use to get temporary, one-time access back into your account, then write it down somewhere safe and don't lose it. Make sure never to store passwords in plain text files on your PC. Also remember that memorising passwords is always a better alternative than leaving any kind of trace, whether electronic or physical.

In my experience, the greatest and most productive thing I've learned that can be summed up into a bit of advice is also the advice that seems to be the most counter-intuitive to an advise thread and is one of the most controversial bits out there.
My life advice: you aren't in as much control as you think you are.
I know most generic advice threads might have lots of sensational motivators about taking control of your life, and you need these things. But I think a lot of people are jaded to these messages for this reason.
You are your brain. You are only aware of a small portion of what it is and what it does, and the decisions you feel authorship over are, in reality, predetermined by subconscious regions of that brain. Not entirely sure what this means for free will, but I can draw one conclusion: if you want to improve yourself and your life, and you're having a hard time "just doing it" like those motivational posters say, make sure you are eating good food, getting enough rest, exercising frequently if possible, and immersing yourself in novel situations in life. These are all essential for maintaining optimal brain health, which is "secretly" one of the greatest factors to your quality of life and the "luck" you feel you have in it. If we're actually in less control than our own brains lead us to believe, then sometimes the best way to try to take any control at all is in taking control of that brain. It's an exhaustive subject, but frequently when people are having systemic troubles with life, they're looking to specific things within their life as culprits, which the reality is that they might not be getting enough rest or good enough nutrition to have a brain that is currently healthy enough to provide them with new ideas and perspectives to change things.
I think this is, ironically, the core essence of having a truly internal locus of control, and in maintaining its integrity when things go south for you.
Most systemic problems come back to this. If you want some manner of upward mobility in some area of your life and you don't really know how, simply trying to max out the health of the brain is a great way to start. Of all the things that people tell you all your life that we tend to ignore, the basics of being generally healthy has had the most tangible results for me.

Age: 108
Physical Description: As nearly as he can tell, Badger is more than a century old, but appears to be in his mid-30's from the human perspective. He stands at a stocky 3'4, and has a muscular frame. A crop of pinkish-purple hair on his head is normally covered by a hat, and his white, toothy, segmented grin is always on display. Big ears, green eyes, and a bulbous nose give him the obvious look of the classic gnome.
Clothes and Equipment: If Badger is not working (that is to say performing) he can normally be spotted in his normal old street rags; a brown coverall type garment with a ratty shirt on underneath. He always has a trick or two tucked in his pockets, and is very fond of short blades.

If you agree to meet a prostitute at a hotel room, it is PERFECTLY NORMAL to then just "want to talk" to him/her. There is no reason to doubt your virility or sexual potency in any way.

Henry "Drake" Drake
New
Roleplay posts: 6
Age: 17
Physical Description: His skin tanned after years at sea, Henry has the looks of a nimble man light on his feat. Crows feet due to his time exposed to the sun nestle on the edges of his pale jade green eyes.
His auburn hair long enough for a fringe in front, and to cover part of his ears on the side.
His teeth, all still present, but with a shade of green to them due to the herb he's grown used to chewing on called Qat.
Together with calloused hands, cuts and scars sprinkled all over his body, he looks like a mixture of a child too young to be at sea, and a sailor who has seen far too much.
Clothes and Equipment: On a normal day you'd see him fashioned with loose garments mixing a short-neck shirt with flowing leather vests. Thin linen pants, rolled up to his knees, strapped by a thick leather belt with a heavy metal buckle. Strong enough to hold his rapier and daggers.
At sea he wears a tricorne hat to cover from the sun and rain, as well as a length of rope on his lower back for emergencies.
Besides his weapons, he has three small pouches. Coin, Qat, and a third one he rarely uses. And a thin looking glass, foggy and rusted.

Everything you do matters.
From the shoes you wear every day, to the road to work you never take. From the neighbor you never speak to, to hours of conversation with your best friend.
Fragments of change come from everything you do or leave undone.
Cynicism may protect you from the those trying to change you, but don't let it stop you from changing the world.
