The Empress is silent as Venus speaks; none too pleased that Venus has spoken up. The condition under which she was allowed to attend was that she would observe only, and now here she goes making a fool of herself, being overly dramatic and exaggerating her claims in an attempt to gain support that will never come. Naoki rolls her eyes and shakes her head. It doesn’t reflect well in the least, so The Empress steps in, standing to address the table.
“Venus approached me some months ago and explained to me in detail the circumstances of her plight, and I agreed to aid her to an extent. I feel it is worth mentioning,” The Empress continues, giving Venus a significant look, “That your 'Homeland' is in another realm, adjacent to The Overworld, and that your civil war would have no impact whatsoever on the kingdoms represented here today -- if not for the usurper’s plan.”
Switching between addressing Venus and the table, she continues, “As it has been explained to me, her 'High-Emperor Obitus' is a being of great power, greater than any other in the realm. Kratocracy. The manner in which the usurper intends to do the usurping is to gather magical artifacts from other realms and take their power for his own until he is able to take the throne.”
“And as it turns out, there are a number of significantly powerful magical artifacts in The Overworld — relics from pre-cataclysmic civilizations, among others. I possess some, know of some more, and there are likely many unknown to civilization altogether. The usurper has come to The Overworld in pursuit of these artifacts; I have seen it, and I have met him, the 'Blood Prince.' … Dreadfully ugly, but don’t tell him I said that.”
“The aid that Venus seeks is aid in preventing the usurper from acquiring them, as she cannot challenge him directly. And the implication she means to make is that he will come and attempt to take artifacts from those that have them.”
“Vortua is likely not at risk. No action is required on your part, Rudiger.” With a more casual tone of voice, The Empress intends to reassure him.
“Others, -- myself included, may be at risk depending on what artifacts may or may not be possessed by or contained within any given kingdom.” Looking around the table, Naoki gives a few significant looks. “If he learns of an artifact that would be of use to him, I am confident he will come for it.”
“I have lent to Venus information gathered by my spies, and we have learned of the Blood Prince’s efforts to unearth artifacts in distant corners of The Overworld. Should it come to a confrontation I will lend her Isra’s strength as well, as he is a common enemy. Based on the… conversation I had with him, he made that clear.” Naoki exhales sharply, finding some amusement in the memory.
“However, for those of us who haven’t already made a foe of him, I believe that something as simple as a letter speaking of the usurper’s activity would be appreciated. I would ask that all here keep one eye open for Blood Princes running amok, and notify Isra should you see one. ”
The Empress, with a shrug and a smirk, seats herself. She hopes that lending credence to Venus’s claims will cause the others to at least consider the matter seriously. She doesn’t expect anyone to openly express support, but when Khorne comes knocking, now they know who to ask for help.

From what Kojuro could gather, it seemed that quite a number of delegates had attended the summit in order to seek aid in civil wars. Audria, the Velmerys Imperium and now the Lady Venus, who as far as she had introduced herself, was only as a guest of Empress Naoki. It was Lord Rudiger who offered the most pertinent questions. Others politely refused their aid before the Empress gave more of an explanation. Other realms, magical artefacts; much of it was beyond his knowledge or understanding. It would bear discussing with Zu Fu when he returned to Tawakoshi.
“I regret Tawakoshi is also unable to offer you assistance. We wish to respect the sovereignty and self-determination of other nations by not involving ourselves in internal conflicts, and we would respectfully ask that other nations do the same in regards to us.
“As for magical artefacts: It is not part of Tawakoshi culture to create or use magical items and their use has been forbidden for a long time. However, that does not mean that there are none in the country. I will consult with my spiritual advisor, but it may be that we will need to ask the aid of foreign experts in magical matters. Perhaps Isra could provide advice on this?” He looked to Naoki.

Grandma had been listening to the proceedings in quiet contemplation, but things seemed to be winding down. The reaction to Venus’ request for assistance was about what she had expected, the other nations politely declining to offer any assistance. Given their lukewarm reaction to her proposal, Grandma felt it was about time she started hers before the Summit was ended.
Clearing her throat, Grandma slowly rose from her seat, the chair sliding backward as she did so. There was a brief moment of silence as Grandma looked over everyone seated around the table, briefly making eye contact with each person present before turning her gaze back to the center of the table. Smoke began flowing from the stone topping her cane, wafting towards the middle of the table as it gradually began to take on a shape. As this was happening, Grandma addressed those present, her voice penetrating the brief moment of silence.
“First of all, I would like to thank all of you present for attending this Summit. As always, Isra wishes to maintain international ties and goodwill among its neighbors and meetings such as this are crucial in keeping such relations from deteriorating.”
Offering several nods of respect to the various leaders present, Grandma then continues.
“Over the past decade, Isra has grown from a small city based on an idea to the largest and most prosperous nation in the Overworld. If anyone had told me where Isra would be in the next several years a decade ago, I wouldn’t have believed them, yet here we are. Now, as I’m sure the esteemed leaders present here know, with rapid growth comes some ‘growing pains’, so to speak. While Isra has managed to deal with many of these growing pains quickly and efficiently, there are still a few left that need to be addressed.”
By now, the smoke in the center of the table had begun to take on a recognizable shape. Wagons, wagons laden with cloth, food, precious metals, and a whole host of other objects Isra traded. The scene shifted. The wagon was now at a city of some kind, the merchant exchanging his goods for gold. It shifted once more, the merchant now on a lonely road, bandits springing from the trees and killing the merchant mercilessly with a hail of arrows.
“As Isra is the most prosperous nation in the Overworld, it is no surprise it is also the nation that does the most trading. Both within its own borders and with many of the nations whose leaders are present in this very room. With this great influx of trading comes an influx of raiders and pirates who seek to steal from the merchants and traders that supply us with both basic and luxury goods. Within our own borders, we do what we can to protect traders, setting frequent patrols on the most popular trade routes and having our navy patrol our coast to help prevent piracy at our seaside towns and cities. While this has greatly increased the safety of trading within Isra itself, there is still a great deal of danger with those trading outside Isra.”
“That is why I am happy to announce a project in the works that will drastically lower such unfortunate casualties and keep both Isra’s and other nations traders safer. Within the next few months, we will be officially announcing the creation of The Imperial Bank. The Imperial Bank will be directly backed and run by the Isran government, and once the bank is fully operational, the Isran government will only do trade and offer contracts to those also using the Imperial Bank. Independent businesses in Isra will of course be able to choose whether or not they wish to use our bank, but given its benefits, I expect most to eagerly open accounts.”
“Many of you might have already discerned this, but to make things perfectly clear, I shall explain our reasoning behind the Imperial Bank. We have found robbery and piracy against traders to happen far more frequently on the return leg of their journeys, when they are not carrying the trade goods themselves, but the money they received for those goods. This is obviously because it is far easier to carry around a chest of money than to steal several wagons full of cloth that still need to be sold. If Isran traders start exclusively trading with locations that possess a bank, they will be able to immediately deposit their money into the bank and make the return leg of the journey in relative safety as opposed to hauling chests of gold hundreds of miles across the Overworld.”
Tapping her cane twice upon the ground, the smoke lingering in the middle of the table was pulled back into the gemstone capping it.
“For those of you here that are interested in maintaining their trade with Isra, we simply request that you allow Isra to purchase land in your nation so that we may build branches of The Imperial Bank. We will of course handle the construction and are also willing to pay a fair sum for the land, given it is in a suitable location. Before I open the floor to discussion on this topic, I would like to clear up one potential misconception. While the Isran government will only be trading with those who have an open account with the Imperial Bank, we do not require a minimum amount of money to be kept in these accounts. Whether it be you are distrustful of Isra not allowing you to withdraw your money when you need it, or you simply have other investments you are using it on, you are free to not put a single coin into your account. So long as it is an option for our own traders and merchants, trade will continue.”
Finished with her announcement, Grandma eased herself back into her chair, straightening her robes as she did so.

Akagi looked at Kojuro as he mentioned a lack of magical artifacts in Tawakoshi, a fact Akagi knew to be untrue, at least in regard to his own City. They were unused and sat under heavy guard around the clock, relics of bygone eras dug up by the Quy archaeologists. The look was not more than a flash, an indication of things they would need to speak about later, in the privacy of their ship home.
Grandma's announcement came as a bit of a surprise to the Daimyo, the Empress had made no mention of such a thing during their initial trade negotiations and this prompted him to stand and address the Summit.
"Vizier, while we understand the nature of your request and the reasonings behind, I must ask if Isra will be negating all trade agreements just to force their partners to sell an already expansive and powerful government more land? Quying has a long history of fighting pirates, so we can sympathize with the sentiment, but I have seen your navy. Are we to believe that such impressive and powerful ships are incapable of defending Isran merchants? I find this hard to believe. We would be more than happy to assist our Isran friends if they are not capable of defending their own merchant fleet."

The announcement of an Imperial Bank - state financed - slightly baffled Erik. The Tawakoshi lord's comments were accurate and he nodded in recognition but there were other things concerning him more about the idea. "Vizier, do I hear you telling us, that you will suspend trade with any country that doesn't let Isra buy land and place a bank in their country? Because that's what it seems to boil down to doesn't it?" he said and crossed his arms and sighed. "Will it make things more safe I wonder? As Lord Akagi said no pirate in his right mind attacks a national fleet. Also having monopoly on the way trading is done is not something we can support in Taingaard. If Isra wishes to propose international standards of trading with other nations' own banks and monetary deposits I'm all for it... but quite frankly this is just trying to gain influence and control in our nation through the back door." Erik said and gesticulated with a frown.
"There is also the question of relations. If... and I say 'If ' very cautiously here... that such a thing would be a viable option, we would need to see Isran ambassadors and representatives in Taingaard so we'll get to know each other a lot better. I can't remember if we ever saw one here." he said and cleared his throat. "In my opinion... if you seek to stimulate the trade we should make a combined effort to make the main roads on land and on sea more safe for both travelers and merchants and thereby kneading our nations together more closely." Erik said with a faint smile having stated his case.

Turning to the Daimyo as he spoke, Grandma nodded a few times at his points, drumming her fingers on the table briefly once he finished. She seemed about to respond, but then Erik Haldar addressed the Summit, leading to the old woman's attention toward him. There was a certain playful gleam in her eye as she listened Erik say his piece, although, by the time she had turned back to the Daimyo to address him, her usual neutral expression returned.
“Have no worries Daimyo Zuikaku, we have no intention of immediately canceling any trade deals we have made with you. Our plans for the bank are still months away from fruition and we do not intend to retroactively impose these conditions on ongoing trade deals. I also think both you and Tain Haldar might have the wrong idea about our reasons for wanting to purchase land. We are not interested in gaining great swathes of land within your nations, only small plots at locations where it would be suitable to have banks built.”
“As for the matter of piracy, what you say about our navy is accurate. It would technically be possible for us to deploy them with all of our trade ships and keep them safe from the average pirate. However, doing so would cost an unreasonable amount of resources and do little to help protect independent merchants, from both Isra and other nations. While I support working together to help guard the most common sea routes and coast from raiders and pirates, using our respective navies to escort our merchant ships would be highly inefficient. With the potential for there to be no money carried by merchants during their voyage, I hope to deter pirates from raiding simply by lowering the potential rewards they can gain. While there will always be pirates, I believe the system I propose would lower the amount of them”
Satisfied that she had responded to the Daimyo’s questions, Grandma shifts in her seat, her gaze falling upon the Tain. She wasn’t particularly familiar with Tain Haldar, but that didn’t particularly matter to her, for now, she simply needed to address his questions.
“Although I partially addressed it in my answer to the Daimyo, we won’t be suspending any current trade deals over this. Of course, I believe the only nation we have ongoing trade with is Quying. For other nations not interested in granting international merchants greater safety, we simply would not begin negotiations.”
“I do want to thank you for bringing up the point of other nations using their own banks. I wasn’t able to neatly fit this into my original proposal, so I shall clear it up now. Firstly, if other nations wish to create their own banks and all the infrastructure that entails, and do so in a manner that will live up to the high standards we intend to set for the Imperial Bank… We would be more than happy to work with such banks in tandem with our own. However, I personally have heard nothing about the other nations present here having such banking systems in place. If this conversation spurs you to build such systems, excellent. However, setting up such a system is a rather expensive task and I wouldn’t have felt right demanding nations that are less prosperous than Isra expend the thousands upon thousands of gold it will cost simply to trade with us. The offer of Isra building banks in other nations was more for the financial benefit of nations that might not be capable of pulling the capital together on their own.”
A smirk slipped onto the old woman’s face, her tone shifting to one of amusement.
“Also, come now Tain Haldar, I think everyone here knows if Isra had intentions to influence other countries we have far more effective methods than simple building banks in them. This proposal is about protecting merchants and allowing for the safe transport of money from nation to nation.”

Listening to Grandma and her choice of words, The Empress makes several hardly subtle facial expressions, most of them grimaces. The project is Grandma’s idea, and it made sense for her to pitch the idea, but the manner in which she comes off is a little too close to the truth. Grandma has many talents, but charm is not among them.
Feeling the need to elaborate, The Empress stands.
“I feel as if I should reiterate: these plans are still in their earliest stages. No construction has begun on the bank’s primary branch, the leadership is still undetermined, and a budget has yet to be made. Those things The Vizier has stated are plans, and subject to change as more information is gathered.”
“If there exist any comparable institutions with which The Imperial Bank could cooperate, that would be ideal. However, I know of no such establishments. … Admittedly, I know little of many of the states represented here, but it’s difficult to plan around what isn’t known.”
Here, The Empress offers a small shrug before continuing, “Isra would like to have banks in the ports it trades with to help its traders and facilitate large deals, but isn’t asking those states to build them. Isra offers to purchase land and build the banks itself, rather than demanding states construct expensive facilities for the benefit of Isran traders.”
“Although The Bank would, of course, benefit traders of all states. Those who come from Quying with holds filled with silk could return swiftly with an empty hold — or loaded with Isran goods, to take their profits from the Imperial Bank at their home port.” Gesturing toward Daimyo Akagi Zuikaku, she references the existing trade agreements and how they would be improved.
“Further —” Turning toward Tain Haldar, she addresses what he said, “Isra wishes to exchange embassies. I believe that’s a discussion to be had between two states as opposed to a setting like this, but I issue a tentative offer to all those in attendance to construct embassies on Chancery Drive. Following formal agreements made after The Summit.”

Akagi listened intently, noting the Empress's facial expressions as the Vizier spoke and nodding his head in agreement with Tain Erik's words.
"I would concur that perhaps this is a matter best discussed outside of this setting. Isra is a much valued trading partner, and I am satisfied that our existing agreement will not be terminated. After this event has concluded, perhaps we should meet to further discuss this?"

Erik leaned back for a while folding his hands while listening intently to what both the Vizier and Naoki had to say about the bank. The words were all well and good and promised a lot. However there was one problem - he didn't believe them. Not out of mistrust per say but definitely because of a lack of trust - he didn't know them and they didn't know him. Who would allow such influence into their country by people they hardly knew? And who was he kidding, as the vizier said they did have every possibility of influencing other countries and he would be a fool to think they wouldn't actively seek to influence other countries in many other ways then just that of war and conquest. And sometimes there were far more effective methods than using brute strength like having others commit to a system and controlling the system themselves - often in the subtlest of ways.
"Vizier, that's a bold and almost rude statement." Erik said and kept his eyes locked on grandma. "Going by your words I will assume you have at least considered how to influence other countries and going even further it seems to me that you would consider it a fun little plaything and care little for our military defenses as well as our defenses against cultural imperialism." the tain said his expression stern as he formed his words. "But did you ever care to ask yourself if you really could do it if you wanted to? If your expertise in the matter and military strength really did eclipse that of the defending country? The way you blatantly joke about it I really do doubt it." Erik said and shrugged.
Arrogance. It started to bug Erik as he had not once yet been met in eye height by the Isran party as they acted as if they owned the moral and rational high ground. "I would absolutely not." Erik said to Naoki about her proposal of exchanging embassies. "My people have been in Isra. I have been in Isra. But I have yet to receive even a hint that either you or any other high ranked Isran leader would set foot in Taingaard." he said and and lifted a brow. "I am not prepared to exchange embassies unless the Isran empire makes themselves known in my country and shows that we are something else than a business venture." Erik said firmly.
"I am not saying it couldn't be done, but would you honestly let Taingaard or Tawakoshi influence the way trade is being done in Isra this radically?" Erik said and added. "These issues needs a lot more action and fewer words to be ironed out. I would hope to see Lord Kojuro at The Great Hunt - perhaps just as representative - to discuss further trade deals and I'm please that Altansetseg has agreed to send an ambassador too. What will Isra do? Send an architect for the construction of the bank?" he said and sighed.
"That won't do, not even close. However I will extend to you an invitation, Emperor Naoki, to come and experience Taingaard yourself. Climb the mountains, enjoy the view, walk in the forests and have a drink at Vanskaar Meadhall to get to know our culture - perhaps even without a horde of guards and advisors? Then we might perhaps speak of exchanging ambassadors and forming closer political ties, but I'm not giving out influence in Taingaard for words alone. Of course Isra is attractive as trade partners but so are Tawakoshi and Toragana and many of the smaller city states and nations. Despite this fine initiative with The Summit, I'm not giving you special treatment." he said and had thus finished what was to say about this right now. Erik didn't hold a grudge or think lowly of the Israns at all however if they wanted these things they needed to take a different approach to it.

Grandma turned to the Daimyo, offering a slight nod at his words. She hadn’t been expecting to finalize any specific deals at the Summit and individual details with each nation would be best to work out in a private setting.
“That sounds agreeable to me, Daimyo Zuikaku. I only meant this as an announcement, the details of such agreements can be worked out at a future date. Isra also considers Quying one of our primary trading partners, so rest assured we will be ready and willing to discuss such things at a time you find convenient.”
Although Grandma had been able to respond to the Daimyo’s question in a relatively diplomatic manner, the Tain’s words drew an incredulous look from the old woman. Glancing over at Naoki, Grandma offered a vaguely apologetic shrug before turning back to the Tain with an audible sigh.
“I appreciate that you didn’t find my statement rude, Tain Haldar, lately I’ve noticed an unfortunate trend of those who are upset by the truth when fails to align with their own views.”
Continuing to hold the Tain’s gaze, the smile on Grandma’s face slowly dissipated, her lips forming a thin line, but even now there was still a slight twinkle of mirth in her eyes. Had the man really just asked her if Isra’s military strength eclipsed other nations, but in this case specifically, Tainguard’s? Such a question made Grandma wonder if perhaps the Tain had taken in a bit too much alcohol during the Night Ball.
“I have certainly considered such things, Tain Haldar. Such is my duty to The Empress. On the question of what Isra’s military is capable of... I feel quite confident in saying the answer to that is whatever Isra needs it to do, which I believe places it in a completely different league than your own, Haldar."
Leaning back into her seat, Grandma placed both her hands on the table, the numerous rings on them distorting the lamplight in the room oddly.

The Empress blinks, looks down at her chest, then squints at Tain Haldar. The accusatory implications in saying that no Isran leader has visited Taingaard are, she feels, baseless, as this is the second time they’ve met and it’s poor form to visit uninvited. That particular comment earns a small eye roll, but otherwise, The Empress maintains a largely neutral expression through Tain Haldar’s bit. Then it’s The Empress’s turn to drum her fingers on the table as Grandma speaks. A better means to accomplish this same end, she thinks, would have been to deliver the bank announcement herself and do a military parade tomorrow, leaving Grandma to sort the details later. There are more diplomatic ways to say what Grandma is saying, and Naoki doesn’t feel the need to further assert. There’s no need to take jabs; aside from the fact war would be impractical for both parties given the distance, it reflects poorly. Grandma’s closing remarks prompt Naoki to cringe, indicating that Grandma does not speak for Isra when she says that. “I feel as if there’s a miscommunication, Tain. You suggest ‘Isran ambassadors and representatives in Taingaard,’ and I confirmed an intention to exchange embassies. Yet you deny it.” The Empress makes a gentle questioning gesture, unsure if it was intentional. “When I say 'exchange embassies’ I mean exactly that, an exchange of diplomatic missions comprised of ambassadors, their aides, and other representatives. I am offering to send and receive ambassadors. This would precede any discussion of an Imperial Bank in Taingaard — that discussion will be years in the making, done through the appropriate diplomatic channels.” “I hope to have the opportunity to accept your invitation soon, though likely not as soon as your Hunt. My skill with the bow is modest and it is difficult to leave Isra for extended periods of time. … That’s why ambassadors are useful,” she adds. “I hope you will accept my esteemed colleague, Consul Finch, to speak on my behalf.” Gesturing to her right, The Empress indicates Elizabeth Finch. There has been no prior discussion of this between them seeing as how the Hunt was announced only minutes prior, but Naoki is confident Liz will find the mission acceptable.

Trade was not something that the noble classes in Tawakoshi traditionally dealt with, but Kojuro was beginning to see the value of Quying's merchant lords. It seemed that in the rest of the world, coin and trade and mercantile goods were integral to status and diplomatic discussions. Akagi was very wise to bridge this gap between the two cultures with his unorthodox system, much as the traditionalists, such as the former Shogun, despised it.
He had merely listened to the discussions, hoping to learn what he could from them, but now spoke. To Erik, he smiled and inclined his head politely, “Tain Erik, I would be glad to attend your Great Hunt as a representative of Tawakoshi, although I'm sure one of Lord Akagi's people would be better suited to discuss matters of trade.” He then turned to Grandma and again, gave a small incline of the head. “I beg your pardon, Lady Vizier, in case you were unaware, Quying is once again part of the nation of Tawakoshi, which makes Tawakoshi your trading partner, not Quying alone.” Although his tone was polite, it was clear that he was making an important distinction.
The bank issue had caused quite an atmosphere to develop in the meeting room, and yet the Empress seemed to be attempting to backtrack her grand vizier's words. Concerned that the peaceful nature of the summit could be derailed, he added, “It seems perhaps that the matter of this bank was raised far too soon. Time should probably be given to increase our diplomatic ties and consider different strategies.”

Eyes rolling and deep sighs, what kind of response was this? Erik was unimpressed at how the Vizier in particular dealt with this issue that Erik had pressed - but then again he did expect that kind of behavior because he did provoke it. Consciously. Part of doing politics was trying to poke holes in the political facades of the 'messages' that had so carefully been prepared and which they hoped people would eat 'as is'. However he hadn't stayed the ruling tain for so many years to be duped by this and it told him that the vizier was politically immature despite her age and - seemingly - magical prowess.
"Don't talk to me like I'm some kind of boy, vizier." Erik said sternly as he leaned back and folded his hands. "Of course I can see how large Isra is and it takes no genius to count residents. However you must be getting confused if you think that allegiances does not exist and count only the might of one nation." Erik said and added. "Your confidence in whatever imagined scenario is none of my business, but I do find it unbecoming of you, vizier, that you have stooped to measuring sticks at such an event as this." Erik said and tapped his fingers towards each other. The vizier's words had already revealed a lot to Erik about some in Isra viewed themselves in relation to others.
"I'm sorry to say, empress, but your political advisers have yet to impress to me." Erik said referring also to incident with Iulia who had started leaking odd details about the empress in Audria and now the vizier had far too easily been provoked into making this a competition of theoretical military strength. In fact Erik didn't care to discuss either, but he found it rather arrogant in such a way to insist on one's own merits that openly in a summit about peace and had wanted to test the composure of the vizier. However the empress seemed slightly more politically mature and seemed less taken aback by Erik's statements and Erik smiled content as she spoke.
"I denied it to make a statement, empress." Erik said still with a light smirk. "That's because I seek honest political collaboration - not a means to an end." Erik elaborated. "Well empress, of course Miss Finch is very welcome for The Great Hunt both as contestant and in a diplomatic function. Also I'm pleased to hear that you'll consider visiting Taingaard in the near future - for me that makes strides that words and embassies would never be able to cover." Erik said and nodded slightly to Naoki. "The bank business however - as Lord Akagi suggested - we better suspend for now. I'm happy that you, empress Naoki, are looking to take such favorable steps." Erik concluded before looking at Kojuro.
"You are of course more than welcome, I don't expect a nation leader to participate in such dangerous business and I might even dissuade you unless you really insist." Erik said and gestured. "However there is much, much more to do than just hunting monsters and I won't let you regret coming all the way from Tawakoshi to Taingaard." Erik said and looked at Kojuro before glancing at Akagi. "I hope once I get to visit Tawakoshi my way will bring me around Quying to discuss trade and visit your the culture I've heard so much about - even in Taingaard we've heard about you fantastic skills in ship building and sea faring." Erik said and nodded towards the daimyo.

Liz hid any showing of surprise at being nominated for a task so quickly, a second to mentally compose herself and then she stood, bowing to Tain Erik.
"I am honored to be representing Isra at such a nationally important event to your homeland, Tain Erik. I look forward to learning more about your culture and your people, that any relationship between Isra and Taingaard is favorable and friendly on the part of both nations." She said sincerely. Liz bowed once more and took her seat, not requiring any significant acknowledgement to her words. She had no plans to really interject herself into the trade discussion. which she was not really informed enough to participate in.

“My apologies Lord Hizashi, I’ve been so used to Quying being independent that it momentarily slipped my mind. We are of course looking forward to building ties with Tawakoshi, hopefully using the ones we already have with Quying as a strong foundation to work on.”
Grandma’s tone had shifted to one of warmth as she responded to Kojuro, the smile on her face appearing far more genuine than what she had offered the Tain. Of course, then the Tain responded again, drawing the old woman’s look of thinly veiled incredulity. When she had initially seen Haldar, Grandma had thought he might be someone who liked getting directly to the point and not beat around the bush. However, it seemed there was more weasel than warrior in the man judging by his choice in tactics.
A number of thoughts passed through her head, things she would very much like to tell the Tain, but doing so would likely result in a complete derailing of the Summit. If this had been a meeting with just the Tain, perhaps she wouldn’t have held back, but sadly that wasn’t the case.
“It seems rather disingenuous for you to take offense to what was simply an answer to the question you asked, Tain Haldar. It was nothing more than my response to your hypothetical question, certainly not something worth getting worked up about.”
Punctuating her final words with a dismissive wave of her hand, Grandma stifled a yawn as she directed her attention towards Naoki.

The Empress looks back at her Vizier, openly exasperated. She’s above any consideration of being replaced, but damn if she doesn’t have a mouth on her. Grandma's “brand of diplomacy,” if it can be referred to as such, is very suitable for annexing and information extraction, and decidedly less so for friendly events such as this.
“I think that may conclude The Summit,” The Empress begins. “Unless anyone has anything else to add or discuss, let’s take a moment to review what actions will be taken as a result of this meeting before leaving.”

The princess was quite silent during the discussion at hand, but if anyone were to view it as dismissiveness, they would be very wrong. She was intensely interested in Grandma's proposal and the problems that Tain had with it. Soon, two more had pitched in their voices.
As much as Set wanted to speak, she bit her tongue. This was not her place, as she could make no big decisions for the Tamorjin quite yet. They were still a tribe, after all. Though they were growing, at current, they did not have the power to contest anything alongside these nations.
She would keep it in mind for the future. Perhaps showing interest in the idea would toss her the support she so wanted to become the Tamorjin's next Khan.
The princess agreed with the Empress and waited for her to continue.

Venus looks her eyes once more over the group present. She would be lying if she said she truly cared for the majority of them, but she kept a face of politeness and perfect decorum up. She laced her fingers together, looking at Naoki. She was most assuredly going to be scolded later, but perhaps her punishment wouldn't be quite as unpleasant as Naoki might think it to be. Pain, after all, was quite similar to pleasure. Some of her aura started to drift outwards as she thought.
She inhaled through her nose, smelling the various auras of the room, the ambient energies that swirled. The thick energy, like that of a dusty book, that pervaded the room with Grandma. The feeling of icy winds from Erik Haldar, the strong arcane presence from Queen Belestrasza, tinged in ash and cinnamon.. What an interesting scent. She shrugged it off, feeling the familiar lustful energies from Koitika and, of a different, yet no less familiar sort, from Naoki. Even Altansetseg's youthful energy, akin to that of a squirrel, with the scent of maples. She adored the wide variety she could smell, and longed to sample each. Still, she would not. Behaving herself would, likely, include not siphoning a small part of everyone present's soul or mana.
Realizing her energy was spreading, she abruptly yanked it back onto herself. The Queen looked around, hoping nobody felt it. She exhaled softly, and with that, so too did her thoughts of mana and energy depart from her.
You know that Kheroth won't stop terraforming, right?
Yes.
He will conquer all.
He knows to behave himself, or I'll rend his flesh from his bone. You can tell him that, Pandemos.
If you say so, Ourania.
Dropping her internal conversation, Venus watched as the Summit drew to a close.

After some final conclusory words and light remarks on how well it went, The Empress concludes The Summit. She thanks all who attended, and makes noncommittal suggestions of doing something similar in the future. Afterward, she approaches some of the attendees. The Empress invites Setseg to visit The Citadel at a later date for lunch, discussion of the matter she brought up, and potentially further talks. Though she doesn’t say as much aloud, The Empress is interested in the idea of Toragana and seeks to learn more and potentially gain an in from this outspoken princess. The understanding already exists between The Empress and the representatives of Tawakoshi that they would need to meet to discuss updating the terms of their trade agreements, but such a discussion would be almost entirely technical in nature and shouldn’t necessitate any grand event. Though The Empress would like to further relations with Velmerys in some manner, the queen kept largely to herself during the summit. Naoki can think of no legitimate reason to schedule a meeting and isn’t going to aggressively inquire about whatever war the advisor mentioned without further prompting. Liz will attend Erik Haldar’s Hunt; that requires no further action on Naoki’s part. She leaves discussion of potentially visiting Taingaard for another time. With that, The Empress considers the night’s matters sorted. Bidding farewell to whichever components of her entourage stuck around to that point, she departs with a quickness, headed first to the water closet, then upstairs to pick up where she left off.
