Karnitium is the name of both an island and a nation. The island itself is almost circular, measuring almost eighty miles in diameter (slightly larger than Ireland). It is located in the subtropics, with long, hot summers, and short, mild winters. Its climate is humid, with rain blowing in from the west at least once a week. The island’s geography ranges from smaller, rocky mountains in the north, to salt flats in the more arid south.
Its varied geography makes it both relatively unknown, and extremely self-reliant. Only rarely do its people need goods that cannot be produced somewhere on the island. However, travelers from Karnitium have been growing increasingly uncommon, and rumors of unnatural beasts, and inexplicable events cross the seas with ever increasing frequency.
Oddly, for most of the recorded history, there have been no people born on Karnitium who can use magic of any kind.
Now, emissaries of Karnitium walk the roads, searching for someone, anyone who can help them.
OOC:
This quest line will be an interactive experience, but more constrained than normal, in that there will be a GM (of sorts). Some general OOC knowledge to consider before sending/creating a character to participate.
This will be a heavily combat based quest. However, for reasons I can’t currently explain (no spoilers), character death is extremely unlikely (unless you WANT your character dead, for whatever reason).
Transit to and from Karnitium is difficult for a number of reasons, and characters will be unable to leave until the quest is complete, for better or worse.

Physical Description: Slight of build, standing at no more than 5'5 with a slim, wiry figure. Has a somewhat boyish face, with thick midback-length hair, dark-brown in colour and generally either tied back and/or stuffed inside his hood.
Clothes and Equipment: Wears thick clothing, made mostly from a combination of nettle, leather, and animal hide. Almost always has on gloves and a cowl, both lined with fur at the ends. Has a multitude of small pouches along his hip and waist, filled with various supplies. Has a hatchet secured by two loops at his hip, with two sheathed knives of differing lengths at his thigh. Carries on his back a composite bow about 4 feet long, as well as a spear a little longer than its wielder.

Physical Description: Standing at a height of 3 feet 2 inches, Konan does not seem to be a very intimidating fellow. Like many of his race, he is of diminuitive size. Konan is what is called a halfling, an animal-like and child-like race. Halflings are generally between 2 to 4 feet tall, with animal like features, usually mammalian, although some reptilian halflings have been known to exist.
Halflings can look almost completely animal-like, with fur covering their whole body, or they can be almost human like with only some animal like features. Konan is of the latter, with only large furry ears and a tail manifesting itself. His feet also seem to be small paws, which are quick and allow for quick agile movements.
Konan has bleach blonde hair along with similar colored fur on his animal like parts, and dark brown eyes that hold a determined fire almost always. Although like many halflings they also hold a mischievous glint.
Clothes and Equipment: Konan is an adventurer, and therefore travels lightly. He only has one set of clothing which is actually a very lightweight but durable armor. This armor gives him as much protection while offering the greatest freedom of movement. Hidden within this armor are four enchanted daggers that seem to have peculiar markings on them.
He also carries with him an unassuming looking sword, that is about a foot in length. To a normal sized human, the sword would look nothing more than perhaps a long dagger, but to Konan it is a full fledged long sword.
Aside from this he carries a small backpack on his back that has all the essentials for traveling, along with some other unknown things.

Physical Description: She was once blonde, but the blood of her enemies has stained her hair so it is more of an orange color. She is about 5'5 with a face that is often mistaken for friendly. Her blue eyes try to watch everything around her.
Clothes and Equipment: Opting for platemail over the more useless armors most female warriors wear for protection. She does not use the upper legs for better agility and dexterity. Most of the time she wears nice ruby colored robes underneath them. In the end she is still a part of one of the wealthiest families in Isra. Her sword 'Volujin' was made by dwarven grand master smiths. Tailored to her balance, tailored to her need for bigger and stronger enemies the runic magics within the sword even carve through dragon scales like butter. After all, only then does it become a fair fight.

Preparing for a battle: He has a green cuirass (do) with black trimmings as well as the helmet (kabuto) shaped to be a conical hat, the face mask (menpo), the armoured sleeves (kote), the greaves (suneate), the cuisses (haidate), and the shoulder guards (sode) all the same color and trimmings.
He has multiple other weapons stored in a personal pocket dimension.
One of which is his double bladed black scythe that has the standard long curved blade and a shorter one curving up under it with a space of a body between them.

Physical Description: Alden is 6 even, with shoulder length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid set cheek bones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well muscled body of a swordsmen, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one where to take more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris's there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Alden rarely removes his shirt, but should someone see him with it off, they would find his body to be covered in scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding among the others.
Those of a more magical bent may be able to decipher the runes in his eyes and on his skin. Identifying them as sigils more commonly found on magical items. The most obvious effect of the runes on his body, are increased speed, strength, and durability.
The runes on his eyes give him the ability to detect magical auras and residue, as well as allowing him to see through low level illusions and glamours. They also maintain his vision regardless of the current light level, and even if there is a sudden shift. His eyes are also capable of dropping into the infrared spectrum in complete darkness.
The rune work on his body enhances his natural strength, speed, endurance, durability, and reflexes to almost super human levels. The effects make him a formidable opponent for most magical creatures though only because they are supplemented by exceptional skill.
This means that all though he is almost super human in a straight contest of strength or speed he would most likely loose to most other magically enhanced humanoids such as vampires or were wolves.
Alden's runes also greatly increase his healing rate allowing him to recover from injuries that would normally take a few months for a person to recover from in a few short weeks. Not only do Alden's runes accelerate healing they also enhance it. A normal persons body will repair itself until it is functioning again then stop, thanks to the runes Alden's body will continues to fix itself until it is in near perfect condition. His healing abilities enhance his already prodigious stamina as it repairs muscle damage and lactic build up and it also increases longevity as he does not accumulate long term damage as most people do.
Finally his body runes provide protection from people attempts to find him magically. Detection spells will be obfuscated their readings on his location being off by about 20 meters. Long distance scrying and tracking spells are only able to narrow down his area to somewhere within a mile radius. It should be noted that these protections can be overcome by someone with sufficient power or ingenuity.
His runes cannot be removed unless they are cut off of his body using an appropriate ritual knife and magic. If the runes are disrupted in any other way they will simply grow back in a few weeks time.
The final thing that only someone versed in rune craft and enchanting would be able to tell is this: The process of these runes being carved into his bodies would have been unbelievably painful. A normal person would have been driven insane or to suicide if they had this happen to them. During the carving process un-directed magical energies would begin to take hold and tear apart your soul. The pain this would not cease until the rune pattern was completed. This means the pain caused would be on a spiritual and physical level of incredible magnitude.
