Unfortunately for Wren, only one of the guards was engaged with the two travellers - the sullen youth with the bruised foot was looking out and down the road attentitvely, and noticed the small woman beginning her run-up from a sizeable enough distance away. Considering that she was going very fast, he decided that rather than waste time trying to lower the gates, he would instead just stand in the way of Wren, preventing her from carrying on past at any speed. The other guard, having farewelled the two travellers previous turned to see what he was doing, and also stood in line beside the younger guard, forming a formidable fortification.

Wren Adalaide
New
Roleplay posts: 2
Age: 20
Physical Description: At a height of only 5', and a weight of barely 100lbs. Miss Adalaide displayed a fairly diminutive stature. Being a rather shy young woman, her naturally bright red hair and piercing stare did nothing to help her from not standing out.
Clothes and Equipment: A functional yet stylish dress meant for everything from working behind a desk, too adventuring to lands far away is the only true article of clothing that Wren wears. Her boots on the other hand are made from a mixture of clay and wool. An odd combination to be sure, and something that the average person would never wear, unless they were able to sprint at speeds that would set normal leathers and cloths on fire. Her only noticeable weapon was a small iron dirk, though she did curiously carry around a small bag full of iron balls.

Seeing the guards start to form up, Wren started to worry. She was already going to fast to try and stop in any normal fashion. Wren decided to try and trick the guards, not honestly expecting it to work, but she was starting to panic. Yelling at the guards, Wren said "OH NO, LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU", while also at the same time using a her speed to start a slide across the ground, in the hopes that she could slide past the guards.

The Enlightened Knight and @keyes were riding to Isra from the South East. While the Knight came to learn of this foreign land, Keyes had his own though likely similar motives. Before approaching the Knight dismounted, and asked for Keyes to stop. He kneeled, and covered his helmet with his hands. He would mumble a prayer to the sun, and as he would finish he would have the same aerial view as that of the sun itself. After a few moments of surveying the geography he rode on with Keyes to the bridge.

Yelling at the guards, Wren said "OH NO, LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU", while also at the same time using a her speed to start a slide across the ground, in the hopes that she could slide past the guards. Neither of the guards turn to look, more concerned with the visible threat. However, and fortunately enough for Wren, the bridge is wider than two men are able to obstruct. Not by much, but between the pair of them, a gap exists. Not a large gap, but large enough for a petite young lady such as Wren to slide through without too much trouble. One guard makes a swinging grasp at her as she passes, but isn’t quite fast enough. As they turn to watch her rapidly retreating form, they grumble a bit, but don’t pursue the matter further. She could have just walked across. It isn’t as if they would have stopped her. No need to be so rude. Assuming that Wren continues onward down the read, she would soon be past the bridge, and continuing on toward the Eastern Gate. The likelihood that she would be able to pass through there without any issues is decidedly slimmer.

The guards standing to either side of the bridge eye the pair as they approach, and nod in greeting, but otherwise make no moves to bar entry. Their job is only to raise the alarm if an obvious threat approaches, and keep a record of how many individuals cross the bridge. Which they do, as the guard on the left makes two tally marks on a notepad.

The Enlightened Knight turned to the Bishop. "Shall we go straight to Isra your holiness? Or perhaps we shall 'examine' the surrounding areas first? I hear there is much to... learn...."

Odilon rode beside the Enlightened One. "What is it you hope to learn, Enlightened One? While I believe we should travel with haste to our destination, I am not apposed to gaining some sort of knowledge along the way."

The Knight scratched his head (his helmet) to indicate he was thinking. He really just wanted better knowledge of the land. "Let us continue on the way to the Norkari mountains, I heard of disturbances and strange powers there. On our way we may cross some places, speak to locals."

Likely accompanied by his companion Sariandi, Ildesias Xen Torsal approached the manned and guarded bridges and stopped for inspection with a smile on his face. "I'm going home," he told them, rubbing his hands together because of the cold.

Sariandi was indeed right there beside Ildesias. Nothing was said, she simply jerked her head toward him as if to say, 'I'm with him.' Wherever he went, she followed. Despite her revealing garments and the apparent thinness of her cloak, she didn't seem bothered by the cold.

François would walk through the bridges. He heard of this city and after being kicked out of Gauldin he decided that this was where he should go. His family trailing him, it would be odd that such well dressed and mannered looking people would would have muddy shoes, and an old ass carrying things with them.

[ Empress Naoki, Artemis, Kate Green] On its way out of Isra and toward the Expanse, Lady Naoki's carriage and all of its occupants approach one of the eastern bridges. A wide, stone bridge, sitting relatively low in the water. All of that armor plating makes for a lot of weight, one must understand. And while the wide wheels do a fair job of distributing it, the majority of bridges simply aren’t rated for that weight- however distributed it may be. In fact, the majority of bridges crossing The Silverion River simply aren’t strong enough. To reach this one, a detour to the south was needed. But better to spend a half hour on a detour than to collapse the bridge and spend the last ten minutes of one’s life in a big fancy iron coffin with wheels, Naoki figures. Regardless, the chosen bridge can handle the weight, and the carriage passes by without incident, as does its escort. Curving their way to the left and northward, the journey continues. Off, toward The Land Tillers’ Expanse.

Rodger made his way towards the border gate, humming some nonsense tune to himself. A white shirt with leather jerkin on top, some decent enough pants with just a bit of fraying from age, and topping it all off with some boots that once probably looked nice, but now with all the mud and dirt and scratches on them it would be hard to tell. Along with Rodger is a hound dog with a bristly red coat and a stick like tail just made to whack into things at the worst possible times. He pauses at the gate offering a friendly smile and wave to the guards, "good day!" That said moving to walk through, hesitating only a bit to make sure there are no complaints.

"Good day," responds a guard, nodding his head. One armed man is no cause for concern, and not much heed is paid to Mr. Taren as he proceeds along, free to enter the city as he sees fit.

The walk was long, but his thirst for ale longer. Breathing quite heavily, Tilus was overjoyed when he found the stone bridge, then it clicked: he needed to remove his helmet. Panicking to remove his helmet, hoping he hadn't alarmed the guards beforehand, he searched about his person to make sure he was in top shape. Standing straight and tall, he marched forward to the gate, wishing not to cause any trouble.

It was a grand caravan chain rolling into view - likely a vibrant and grand sight for the guards on duty! Several wagons adorn in colorful flags and posters and drapery approached the bridge, one after another, as well as a number of strange and eccentric individuals walking along with them. A small band of bards seated in one of the wagons were playing merry music as they traveled along. Acrobats were tumbling and flipping about in practice as the caravan came along.
Xacaxeth didn't see anything. His cart was a cage at its very source, with no way to exit unless someone opened the gate from the outside. And from the outside, it looked like another wagon with the wide sides draped in colorful silk to hide the bars and him - the deadly viper of the desert. He scoffed internally at the name as he lay along the floor of his little dwelling, as comfortably as the heavy steel restraints would allow.
The head wagon bore the circus master, a portly and loud but excitable man - who offered a wide wave with his flamboyant hat in hand to the guard at their posts. "Greetings! Greetings! Come one, come all! Come see out troope when you can - we are holding a fair for a fortnight outside the grand city of Isra! Don't forget to come see the acrobats - they fly like eagles! And Auros the Strong!"
From beside one of the carts marched a visibly powerful man, carved in muscle - who laughed boldly at the mention and proceeded to display the rippling muscle in his arms with a flex.
Again, the Naga scoffed silently. What a joke.

What a joke. Murmurs of acknowledgement ripple their way through some of the present guards. They’ve seen their fair share of things, overseeing Isra’s gates, but perhaps this circus has something new. Then, one of the men mentions that on the contrary, he intends on spending his off-time down at one of Isra’s "clubs". Most of the other men- and some of the women are forced to concur, but it would seem like at least a few of the guards still intend on visiting the traveling circus at least once. Regardless, the procession is advised- if it isn’t going to be holding its circus inside the city, to move off the road and perhaps go set up their gubbins over in The Free Plains.
