The Silverion River runs down the eastern portion of The Free Plains, and curves to lead into the ocean near Port Silverion. Watchtowers are set up at strategic points along the river. Anyone who wish to enter Isra from the east or south would have to cross this river first. There are exactly two bridges spanning the river, and the two are largely similar. They are sizable stone arch bridges with fortifications at both ends. Both were designed with reliability and defensibility in mind, and in these areas, no expense was spared. At the ends of and along both bridges, guards patrol, ensuring the safety of all those who pass over. Outposts have been built into the structure of the bridges to provide for these guards. One of the bridges is located on the road between The Free Plains and the Expanse, and is also used to travel to The Winterlands. The other is just south of Isra itself and allows traffic to pass across to the farms and homes on the other side, as well as down the road to Medan. Read about Isra's border permissions here.

A single Aaedanian rider pases through the checkpoint. If anyone tried to stop him, he ignored them. The horse was huffing and heaving, a long ride now behind him and his destination was too close at hand to stop now.

The gates of the bridges swung open before the army as they carried on, tramping above the wide, lazy river.

The Sniper waited until the last of the soldiers passed. Her bow was ready and primed in case one of them saw her, but none appeared to do so. The Sniper slung her bow across her back, and rested her hand on the pommel of her longsword. She casually walked up to the bridge and waved at the guards, putting on her best smile and winking flirtatiously at the guards.
"Pardon me gents, could one of you open this gate here and let me in?

One of the guards, a young lad with a pitted face, moved immediately to swing the door open, with utter disregard for the new security measures ordered by the Judiciary Governer only that morning, but his older and more experienced comrade was more observant of the new regulations, stamping down onto the youth's unprotected foot with his boot, causing a string of muffled curses to issue forth.
"Sorry ma'am. New regulation says you've got to be identified and searched if you're travelling from the Aaedan region." The older guard, who looked to be a veteran of the job, well weathered by the many moons he had seen. "We'll need a name and proof of country of origin, as well as a full inventory list before you can be carrying on inwards. I'd like to let you in, but you know how the bureaucracy is, and what with the bad business going on over there," he gestured in the direction of the Expanse that provided cover between the two great cities, "we can't afford a slip in protocol."
In truth, though, the veteran didn't particularly want to let her in. He disliked how easily she had managed to get his younger counterpart to open the door, though whether that was entirely her fault he debated. He also didn't particularly like the fact that she approached the guards on the bridge hand on pommel. That was generally a bad sign in his considerable experience, so he moved his own hand to match her's.

She should have just shot them both from her hiding place and moved on, but she had thought she would try to talk her way in first. If all else failed she could always do it she supposed, but as of right now she wasn't wanted by the Isranian government...she thinks.
She feigned ignorance as to what was going on.
"I am just a simple farmer by the name of Melissa, my farm was burned to the ground during the fighting in Aaedan, my husband killed by the merciless undead. I fled to Isra, after hearing the stories of how they took in the Medanian refugees, I had hoped they would do the same for the Aaedanian ones. Please! I have nothing left for me back there. I just want a fresh start."
Her voice tone was pleading, and she did look like a woman who made a living through hard work. Tears started pouring down her face as she spoke, a trick she had learned in her younger days to sneak into places past young, sympathetic and foolish guards. It was quite effective, and if she had not turned to banditry, she likely would have made a good actress.

"Oh! Well, okay then!" The young guard's squeaky, scratchy voice resounded pathetically as he moved to open the door once again, and was rewarded with another stomp on the foot.
"Ma'am, you're still required to let us inventory you. You'll need to place all of your weapons and armour on the ground, and also empty out any bags you may have brought with you before you can enter."
The veteran's suspicions were growing by the minute. He'd been working this job for a very long time, and thought it was quite strange that a distraught woman, fleeing a burning house ravaged by fire and an undead horde would choose a bow and a longsword to run with, over the other more useful things she would have been able to grab. Perhaps that was just his innate suspicion, but there was a reason he had been working in this job for such a long time.

"What? So you can go through them and take what you like before you turn me away? No thank you. Thats what some bandits up the road tried, I thought you people were supposed to help refugees. Not strip 'em down for your own amusement. I bet Goraia is more friendly then this."
With the indignant tone of a woman who had had enough shit for one lifetime she turned and walked back down the road.

The city had come into sight about an hour previously, and they had landed about a mile outside of the Eastern Border. She doubted she was a big enough dragon to be seen from that far out, but either way she figured she shouldn't try to get into the city's borders as a dragon. She landed gently in a small creek that was a branch off of the Silverion River. Once again, the small minnows and frogs that inhabited the creek ignored her presence, save to get out of her way as she landed. They would scatter once Roy dismounted from her back however. "Alright Roy ( Royal Fletcher), you're safely on the ground now. Go ahead and hop down so I can look more...presentable."

Roy clambered shakily to the ground, glad to be back on solid dirt. He'd never really liked flying very much. Still, he supposed, it was faster than walking. Opening his parasol, he took off his gloves and hood.
"Er...thanks, Neva. We sure got here fast. What do you mean by more presentable?"
He leaned against a tree, opening another bar of chocolate. Luckily for him, Uncle Renalt's foil wrapping was so precise that the chocolate had survived the dunking in the river.
"My uncle's awfully nice, but he used to be a dragonslayer when he was younger. I think he's retired from that now, though."

"Like this."
Her form began to shrink, slowly becoming more humanoid in appearance until, at last, she was the shape of a woman. A rather beautiful woman at that. Long black hair cascaded down her back, while a series of turquoise tattoos flowed across her arms and up her face. Sparkling green eyes shone out above the tattoos, and she was clad in a simple set of travelling clothes, mostly comprised of various shades of blue, mixed in with some brown. Across her back was strapped a wicked looking spear, on either side of which was a singular javelin. All three were etched across with the same blue series of markings that appeared on her arms and face.
"There we are! They are much more likely to let me in now, right Roy? And don't worry about it, I am well aware that there are numerous members of my species that sought to do harm to the world rather than protect it. So long as he does not try to kill me, we shall not have a problem! Especially since he makes that delicious chocolate stuff."

"Wow..."
Roy stared at the newly-transformed dragon for a moment before tearing his eyes away and shuffling off down the road. It wasn't polite to stare, after all. Even if Neva was very pretty as a human.
"Oh, that's good. Uncle Renalt probably won't have any issue with you, he likes customers."
He chuckled, and practically skipped down the road.
"Gosh, I sure can't wait to see Uncle Renalt again. I haven't seen him in a while."

Neva chuckled at the young man's antics, his excitement certainly was infectious, and she couldn't help a broad smile from appearing on her face as they approached the gates.
She waved up at the guards on the gatehouse as she said cheerily:
"Excuse me up there! Would you mind opening the gate? We would like to get to the city!"
Her voice was full of excitement. She had not been to a city in almost her entire life. Plus, chocolate.

As the pair approached, the older guard, who was previously on high alert, relaxed slightly. Despite the javelins and spear, she released a... calming persona, unlike the previous visitor, who had put him on edge with her quickly changing moods.
"Of course, ma'am, however, you will be required to remove your weapons from your back, first, so we can inspect them. Afterwards, you'll be free to take them back. And you, too, sir. Family of Renalt's?"
The elder guard said, observing Royal only to the end of the of his statement. He recognised the shock of white hair that was typical of the Fletcher family, and he had had a lot of experience with Renalt's lolly shop in the past, it being a favourite with his children, in the past, and more recently, his grandchildren. The younger guard had fallen into a sullen and resentful mood towards his elder companion, no doubt caused by the wholly unhelpful pain in his foot.

Roy grinned at the guard, always happy to meet someone who's met his relatives. It made him feel warm and fuzzy inside, as though everyone were his neighbor. That reminded him of his great-uncle Rogers, who was always telling him what a beautiful day it was in the neighborhood. Glancing around, Roy decided that it was, in fact, a beautiful day. The sun was shining, he'd just met a dragon, and he was going to visit his uncle! He nodded enthusiastically.
"Oh yes, he's my uncle. I'm here to visit him. I'm Roy, nice to meet you!"
Rummaging around in his pocket, he pulled another piece of chocolate from his seemingly infinite supply and offered it to the guard, along with his sword.
"Would you like a piece of chocolate? Uncle Renalt made it."

She drew her long spear and handed it over to the guards, followed by the two javelins. The moment they left her hand and went into the guard's the inscriptions on their hafts faded away, and those on her arms glowed brightly before returning to their previous color, though slightly more intense.
"Is there anything else you need?"
She smiled brilliantly at the guard, he was clearly a good man, and the river flowing not far beneath her feet infused her with energy and happiness.

The man accepted the piece of chocolate from Royal, lying it down on the sill behind him, so he could take it back to one of his grandchildren. He then took the sword, assessing it quickly before leaning over and scratching a note down in the register. "Oh! I almost forgot. I'll need your names, too, please. Then you'll be free to carry on."
He passed the blade back, before taking the spears and javelin from Neva-Sviv-Suna, holding onto them for a moment, impressed by the expert craftsmanship and design. "These are... impressive weapons. Very damaging in the right hands." He spoke, not intentionally making any implications, before handing them back, and noting down the details again. "The reason we take stock of the weapons people have when entering the city is so that we can keep register for when they leave. It pays to make sure people haven't left mysterious artefacts lying around, or at least that's what I've been told." The man had his hands poised over the name box. As soon as they gave their names, they would be free to head into the city, after they picked up their waiver forms that would let them get through the next gates.

Roy was somewhat disappointed when the guard didn't try the chocolate. He'd hoped the man would at least take a bite. Still, it was clear that the man had tried Uncle Renalt's chocolate before, so he didn't let himself get too bothered by it. Taking back his sword, he sheathed it carefully and beamed at the guard.
"I'm Royal Fletcher."
When the guard commented on Neva's weapons, Roy looked over at them for the first time. They certainly were fancy-looking.

She grinned at the man as he handed back her weaponry. The inscriptions glowed brilliantly for a moment before settling into their previous pattern as she slung them across her back.
"Thank you, they are almost...a piece if me if you will. Very well crafted, I designed them myself. I am Neva-Svir-Suna."
She eyed the chocolate the man had set down, but figured it would likely be considered rude if she ate it. Humans were so weird.

Physical Description: At a height of only 5', and a weight of barely 100lbs. Miss Adalaide displayed a fairly diminutive stature. Being a rather shy young woman, her naturally bright red hair and piercing stare did nothing to help her from not standing out.
Clothes and Equipment: A functional yet stylish dress meant for everything from working behind a desk, too adventuring to lands far away is the only true article of clothing that Wren wears. Her boots on the other hand are made from a mixture of clay and wool. An odd combination to be sure, and something that the average person would never wear, unless they were able to sprint at speeds that would set normal leathers and cloths on fire. Her only noticeable weapon was a small iron dirk, though she did curiously carry around a small bag full of iron balls.

Knowing that she was nearing the border gate, Wren had to make a choice. She had heard the rumors of how strict the inspections could be at this guard gate, but she had to get to Isra as fast as she could. She had finally found a clue as to who she was, and it had pointed her to Isra. She had two options: the first being she stop for inspection with the hopes that they might let her through, even though she had no papers declaring her nation of origin. The second option was to use her ability to run at incredible speeds to try and get past the gate without a confrontation with the guards. Seeing that the guards were distracted talking to some other adventurers, she made up her mind in a split second, Wren decided to try the later option. Whispering to herself "I do not have the time nor the patience to deal with these guards right now". Crouching low, Wren pushed off with all of her power. It was a desperate, all or nothing run at the gate.
