It was time for the Land-Tillers to finish what they started.
Up until that moment, the archers had been doing their best to fight alongside the Isranian military, but now that the undead had adapted their strategy, it was time for a change.
With so much mana gathered (charge x3), the mounted mage corps and wyvern riding mages would pull up from behind the archers. The Psionic Corps would start sending out warning signals to any allied forces too close to the front lines. The undead formation of shields of pikes wouldn't save them from what was coming.
Once again, the mounted mages divided their casting into three parts. First there was a massive surge of noxious flammable gas. Next came a surge of oxygenated wind to guide the cloud right on top of the undead. And finally, when the cloud was safely away from any allied forces, there came the spark.
A massive fire storm would erupt. Blue flames would wrap over and around the undead, melting shields and pikes and turning bones into ash. The swirling flames would be visible for miles. A loud rush of expanding air would cause the entire battlefield's atmosphere to shudder. The heat could be felt across the entire battle line.
If this attack was successful, at least one half of the undead force would be annihilated.

Age: 28
Physical Description: Jun is a human adult, standing 5’4”. She is wiry and fit at approximately 120 lbs. She has olive skin, dark brown hair ending just above her shoulders, and slight epicanthic folds over her dark almond eyes. Her face is squarish with a small chin. Her skin is dotted with battle scars, and her left arm is heavily bandaged due to an unknown affliction.
Clothes and Equipment: Jun possesses a vast collection of seeds, herbs, insects, and scrolls hidden in various pouches in her armor. These serve as reagents for her multitude of spells. Her armor consists of a customized, long-coat style gambeson that is stuffed with a matrix of seeds and plant fibers. Fitted on top is a set of brass-like, enchanted half armor (chest piece, pauldrons, and tassets) which gives off a warm aura. She has an open-faced, burgonet style helmet and coif of the same materials.
Her most notable "weapons" are Blackbean and Resonance. Blackbean is an elephant-sized demon crow which has served with Jun for many years as a mount and as a bodyguard. A minor enchantment allows him to disguise himself as a regular crow. Resonance is an azure blue longsword with a mind of his own. He can intercept minor attacks and can teleport to his owner. He can also use a personal reserve of magic to aid in the casting of a single spell.

Jun was in awe as the Land-Tillers worked their magic (literally) against the undead hoard. That combination attack was heavily based on one of her grandmother’s moves. Since apparently all the forces here more or less had this, Jun would beckon for Lum'Valia as they went after Xel'rath towards the central plaza. A couple of mages and archers from the Land-Tiller forces decided to go with her. It wasn’t every day they got to meet Raynor’s daughter, and apparently she was doing something important. Jun normally liked the rain, but for some reason today's rain didn't feel right. <exit>

Physical Description: Elizabeth, or Liz, stands at about 5'9", weighing in at about 160lbs, most of it muscle from years of riding and fighting. She has platinum blonde hair, usually tied in a ponytail to fit inside her helmet. Her eyes are a vibrant shade of green that contrasts well with her tanned skin. She would be considered attractive if she ever removed her armor, otherwise her face is the only indication that underneath the iron discipline and plate armor is an attractive woman.
Clothes and Equipment: Liz wears a normal looking set of plate armor that is custom fitted for her specifically, and does not hide her gender. She wields a lance when mounted. Javelins are carried in her mounts saddle. Her mount is a young Griffin by the name of St. George, he is full grown in height, but does not yet have the full mass of a adult griffin. She wears plain clothes when not in armor and her shield bears the symbol of the Dawn Riders on it, and her breastplate bears the symbol of Isra on it. She wears a small necklace with a purple gemstone on it underneath her breastplate, only visible when she she is unarmored. Her sword has the insignia of the midnight sun engraved in the hilt, as it is relatively out of sight and does not violate the military dress code. Her primary weapon is her sword, an ancient Elven artifact passed down by her bloodline. It is wreathed in green lightning when unsheathed and wielded by her, and she has a sunmetal shield that complements it with magical abilities of its own.

She watched in awe as the fire rolled towards one of the two Testudos left on the field. With that one hopefully dealt with, she turned her attention to the other. Thus far casualties were acceptable, having lost a total of about 100 soldiers, and nearly as many horses. The griffins had proven immensely effective against the undead, their sheer size and ferocity enabling them to easily dispatch the slower undead.
Testudos, while worrying to land-based cavalry, were not nearly as problematic for aerial cavalry. The tactic here was simple. The light griffins would swoop in, breaking off the tops of spears and pikes, followed by the heavy riders, who would land on top of the center of the testudo and literally crush the enemy beneath them. The Medium Companies would follow, exploiting the gap created in the center and further causing destruction. Once the enemy turned inward to deal with this threat, the land cavalry would charge, having already surrounded them, and the testudo would be caught in a devastating hammer and anvil tactic.
She gave the signals necessary to implement the tactic, then, as the light Riders pulled up, she led the rest of them in a hopefully devastating aerial charge.

Both tetsudos lay destroyed, yet another victory for the allied forces. Bones of heroes lay shattered all around and the fire still licked at the bones of the unlucky undead that felt the Land Tiller's magic fire.
Luckily for General Finch the rain that had brought so many dead back to life finally stopped falling. The lands of Aaedan had been purged and save for the military district which was almost abandoned and the southeast district where fighting was nearly finished, the city had been purged.
It would seem that all that was left was for the source of this magic to be destroyed.
But no one had seen the mages of Aaedan. No one had set sight on more than one throughout the entire siege.
Green lightning crackled through the clouds. Magical power was still mightily present in them...

She wiped the remnants of the blood and viscera off of her sabre. Her lance lay shattered in the chest of an undead soldier. Her shield was pitted and scored, as was the armor of her and her griffin, but they were alive, and her mighty legion stood victorious on the field of battle, she had proven worthy of their command, and had destroyed a firce more than triple their size while losing less than a quarter of her own forces. It was a mighty victory indeed, but the battle wasn't over yet. There was still undead to be dealt with, but her Riders could handle it.
She left the Riders-in-Training behind to secure the outside and prevent any more surprises, while she took the Griffin Riders with her to the Central Plaza.

Tuesirth was treading heavily through the fortifications to leave the crumbling city, stopping when he heard the monstrous commotion in his wake. He turned his head to the skies... and lay his eyes on something that made his heart ache in a number of ways.
That dragon... the very aura she carried with her, and what she created to destroy that tower... that was the Earthwarden, chosen by the very earth itself. Though he did not know who she was, it was apparent - and he was staring in a mixture of awe and resentment. He tried not to allow his desires get the best of him, but a small part of him was jealous that she had been chosen rather than him.
But the earth knew best to choose as its messenger and guardian. He looked out to Va'nei Dha'zhi, Earthwarden with a longing gaze... and a part of him came to realize she was a beautiful creature in her right. Whatever reasoning there was that blessed her with that gift of burden, he would not question it. None questioned the spirit of the earth, for it could not answer. It only moved and acted. This was the way it was to be.
Without even realizing it, there was a low and deep hum - almost a rumbling sound - emanating from his figure. It was a sure sign of his true dragon form. Why he responded in such a manner? Even should he come to realize the sound he was making, he wouldn't know either.

After having done all she could within the city, Va'nei had taken wing once more and was exiting the deadened area of this land, heading back toward her Sanctuary.. when she realized there was a hum coming from below her. It wasn't one so much audible to the ear, but to her soul - something that spoke of mountains tall and ancient, with their hearts stretching deep into the earth. Puzzled by this sound, she circled around and descended to where the hum was emanating from, shrinking as she lost altitude until she could take her human form, which she did when she was mere feet above the ground. Her feet landed lightly, green-and-gold robes billowing around her body as hair fell in a verdant cloud around her face and shoulders. Golden eyes easily found the source of the hum, and they rounded in surprise as she came to an abrupt halt. It was a visceral reaction to a creature like herself, and she spoke breathlessly, her amazement evident.
"..An earth dragon?" She had yet to meet another of her own kind since she'd awakened, aside from Noroth.. to meet another child of the earth, and this one an adult, was nearly beyond belief to her. She'd begun to think she was all alone, aside from the hatchling who was growing like a weed. She took a hesitant half-step toward the armored male, her golden eyes searching him in hopeful question. Was she truly finding another of her own, after so long? And why was he here? Had he, too, heeded the call of the earth as it cried out in protest to this undead threat?

When the Earthwarden began to make her descent, he charged with heavy steps that made his stone armor clatter to rush through the fortified gates to get outside - watching the woman appear on the ground in the stead of the dragon figure. He could only stand and stare... she truly was beautiful. She seemed so delicate, like a tiny blossom with the softest petals as it yearned to grow.
But she was not so youthful - that much was apparent to him. Not from a physical aspect, but by the size and shape of her dragon form. It spoke the words to tell him she was not a new guardian. Crystal clear eyes met the golden sunrise orbs set in her face, and they softened almost painfully. She reminded him of a time before he went to lay to rest at the request of the very earth. Of a mate he took, and surrendered.
He inhaled deep and let it out slowly, before making his way in very heavy, thudding steps towards her. When he came to stand mere feet away from her, he would stop and watch her from above - his hulking figure seeming to dwarf her own in a number of ways.
His voice comes out in that booming baritone, but at the same time a purr that renders him not so frightening. "You... are Earthwarden. It is my honor to meet the chosen one," he greets, feeling a bit awkward in his words. What was he to say to one so lovely, yet privileged to make him envious?

Her heart thrilled in delight at meeting one of her own people, still alive and well in this age that seemed so unfriendly to dragons. Taking a step closer to him, a bright smile appeared on her girlish features, and Va'nei couldn't help but laugh softly - it was most decidedly not a derogatory or mirthful sound, but rather one of unadulterated joy. She wasn't alone! Noroth was the child of her heart, it was true, but she got so lonely sometimes, yearning for the company of another adult dragon with whom to pass her time. And here there was one before her, greeting her! It was too much to hope that he would become a companion, but perhaps someone she could occasionally while away the hours with, maybe soaring through the clouds and casting their great shadows upon the earth so far below, enjoying the dance of ages past.
"I do not know if it may be called an honor to meet me, but it is most certainly my deepest pleasure to meet another of my kind. It seems we are so few in this modern era." Her head tilted in a curious gesture as she gazed at him, fascinated by the intricacy of his armor, admiring the sandy coloring of his hair, the chiseled cut of his jaw. He was such a creature of power! She was so unintimidating in this form, she was almost jealous of the raw force his person put forth. "Please.. you must call me Va'nei. May I know your name, fellow child of the earth?"

... it was impossible to hold ill will to her. She was a gentle creature by nature - he could see that. Perhaps that was something he lacked, and it was thus the earth named her its champion. His gaze softened immediately at her words, though his figure didn't ease. He was still tall and strong, broad and proud - even when his eyes betrayed otherwise. A gentle giant.
"I have been called many names. Most know me... or knew, as Tuesirth. Some called me The Mountain." He would bend at the waist with an arm crossed over his chest, a proper bow to the woman of a dragon. "You honor me, yet again, with your name Earthwarden. Va'Nei, it is."

"Tuesirth the Mountain.. it suits you." The female nodded, inclining her head in respect, in response to Tuesirth's bow. When he straightened, she smiled at him, but after a few moments, that smile faded and she looked toward the northeast. Then her gaze drifted back to Tuesirth. She was clearly torn between staying to speak with him, and heading off in that direction for some reason. Then when she took a clearly reluctant step away, it became clear she was preparing to leave.. but it was also obvious that she didn't want to. She wanted to stay and speak with him, but she had obligations.. namely, an adopted hatchling to return to. She uttered a low sound that was nearly a frustrated growl.
"I wish I could stay and speak with you.. but I have a youngling who depends upon me. I need to return to him." She paused, then forged ahead with an air of hopeful eagerness, not quite pleading. "I have laid claim to a valley, in the mountains east-northeast of here. I welcome you to visit it, should you wish to." Her gaze searched his face, as though memorizing the features therein, in case she should never see him again.. and yet there was hope within her warm golden eyes. "It does my heart good to know that I am not quite so alone in this time as I had thought.. and for that alone, I owe you much, Tuesirth the Mountain. Until we meet again." She turned from him and moved briskly away from the fortifications, then resumed her dragon shape and took to the sky. She wheeled above for a moment, emitting a rumbling coo, then tilted her wings and took off in the direction of her Sanctuary.

The great Earthwarden had a child to tend after... only one? That was an odd thought, but he wouldn't judge. But the idea of seeing her again was a mixed one. But, perhaps, speaking with her again might do him some good. Gaining her favor was never a bad thing, either. He watches her take to the skies in her true figure, the proper shape of his kin, and he listened intently as she purred upon her exit.
He could place the sudden pulse of his heart within his chest, pounding almost painfully against his rib cage. It was something similar to the mate he surrendered so long ago. But he knew better - that was a foolhardy thing to think of or even to toy with as a fantasy. But he would see her again, regardless. For now, he continued to walk away from the dying city that seemed to not need his aid - the Earthwarden had down her part, and thus there was no point in his remaining.

Perhaps surprising, several minutes after the Earthwarden had begun to soar off toward the east, she suddenly reappeared overhead, moving as fast as she could toward the desert of the Land-Tiller's states with an earth-rumbling roar of anger. She had been summoned, and she was enraged. If Tuesirth was looking to help out, going with her to face whatever had so angered her might be a good place to start.

Hearing that roar from the Earthwarden brought his head up to the skies immediately - and he watched her soar back across the skies with all haste.
Needless to say, he was drawn. Why? There were a couple of reasons. But he wasn't about to explore them in his head right now. He shelved them and began a heavy gait of a run in the direction she flew to, leaping up and changing shape in mere moments - the massive mountain of a dragon was airborne and pumping his mighty wings with a painful swiftness to get him clear of the earth faster - the gusts felt for a few miles in any direction. When his form was one with the clouds he sought to follow the retreating speck that was Va'Nei in the distance.

Physical Description: At 6'1", Tristian is tall and broad-shouldered, with a lean but muscled form. His features are chiseled and aristocratic, set with dark brown eyes and framed by shoulder-length brown hair; he does occasionally grow a beard and mustache, but most frequently, he is seen to be clean-shaven. Very little about him stands out, aside from his handsome features - he has a few scars gained during the flight from Medan, but few of them are visible to the casual observer, being hidden by his everyday attire.

Clothes and Equipment: As a nobleman, Tristian typically wears well-made tunics, breeches, and boots in a variety of colors, but as a practical man, he abhors silk - most of his clothes are simply made of fine, but sturdy, wool, though he does indulge in fur-lined gloves and cloaks in winter. On rare occasions, mostly just important state functions (given he is the head of the Black Tower) he can be seen wearing a full set of blue and gold plate armor, emblazoned with his family crest of the gryphon head. A lot of the time, Tristian carries with him his family's heirloom sword, and he always wears a golden signet ring with the Seryl family crest - he also wears a signet ring with the crest of the Black Tower, which allows him to maintain telepathic contact with his operatives.

Teleporting in from the Black Tower, Tristian appeared atop the wall and looked to those still present. He spoke in a calm, firm voice that would brook no argument.
"I am Lord Tristian Seryl, leader of the Black Tower, and I have come to pay my respects at the funeral. Please do not hinder me." Descending from the wall, he moved toward where the crowd was gathering to see the last moments of the White City, and Aaedan.
