This thread represents the The Oculus Solis Arena as it exists for the final match of the Warrior Bracket of The Second Annual Tournament, for the match between Alexander Gallagos and Lamina Manira . The fighting area itself is an open, circular expanse of imported sand fifty meters across. Competitors enter through opposite entry tunnels on the east and west sides. At the beginning of each match, a match official stands in the center of the ring. The competitors are expected to make their entrances, approach the center, perhaps shake hands or something like that with their competitor, and await the mark of the match official to begin their fight. [In the event of a dispute that cannot be resolved between the competing parties, message Empress Naoki .]

The gates rose, sun first glinting off the external steel toe of her boots and rising upward to reveal the form of a fairly small girl, one strapped with weapons and a skirted battle raiment. At her left hip was a mortuary sword, her right, a hooksword, and to her back was strapped a jumonji yari at a diagonal angle. Blinded by the light at first, stepping into the sun from the dimly lit waiting area to a cheering crowd, Lamina strode proudly towards the center of the ring, sun glinting off her weaponry as she awaited the announcement to begin. This is it, she thought... the final round. She gave her arms a little downward shake, the colorful and sparkling metal bangles around her bare wrists jingling as she seemed to exercise her limbs with a jerk, as though some subconscious preparation for the strenuous exertion that was about to begin...

Alexander strode into the arena through his gate, dressed only in the raiments he was provided, as well as his much-treasured gauntlets. When he saw the little slip of a girl he was facing off against, he was even more pleased that he had chosen the gauntlets. He also carried his spear, loosely slung over one shoulder, while his dagger was strapped to his hip. Alexander preferred not to stand in the centre of the sandy ring, taking only a handful of paces from his gate, before raising both hands and his spear into the air, successfully attempting to stoke the crowd into a furor.

Lamina stepped up to where she normally did, more so nearest the center of the ring. She chose not to brandish any weapon yet, but simply awaited the announcer's call... She glared at her opponent with a cold stoicism, waiting for the match to begin.. yet inside that statuesque outer shell, her heart was pounding as she fought to keep her adrenaline under control.

For the final match of the Warrior Bracket, the crowd is- on the whole, somewhat ecstatic. To get to this point, both fighters have demonstrated their prowess with the blade, and as such, this match ought to be something of a spectacle. Either that or a unilateral stomp. But that would still be a spectacle, the crowd supposes.
Regardless, Marceline the referee takes to the grand stage after both of the competitors seem to be about finished with their grandstanding. Seeing as how Lamina is closer to the center, her enchantments are checked over first, Marceline’s cube spinning about Lamina’s petite figure for the space of a few moments, and finding everything to be in order.
A beckoning hand draws Alexander from his position near the gate toward the center- Marceline isn’t walking all the way over there. Once he’s within twenty meters or so of the center, his enchantments are checked as well and found to be functioning properly.
With the enchantments checked and the competitors standing roughly twenty meters apart, there is no reason to delay the start of the match any longer. At a gesture from everyone’s favorite referee, the sound of a gong rings out across the arena for the final time of the day, signaling the start of the Warrior Bracket Final.

Looking his opposition up and down again, Alex was increasingly glad of his choice of arms and armour. Preparing himself, he stepped backwards and away from the centre of the arena, holding his spear in his right hand, point touching the ground a metre or so from his body.

Seeing as how Alexander chose to use a spear, so too, did Lamina. While it wouldn't have been her first time stepping into a melee at an extreme disadvantage in reach, the final round seemed a bit too serious to be showing off. She reached for her yari at her back, unfastening it and twirling it before her, her left hand upon the end of the shaft and her right gripping its center, head reaching before her and hovering before the sand. Cautiously, favoring her right side as she tilted it slightly to the fore, she began closing the considerable distance before them.
