Ketsueki remained poised outside the door, ears keening in just for some call for her to enter - nothing more or less. She wasn't in a position or mission to eavesdrop and wouldn't try to do such a thing in the halls of the Daimyo. At least, not yet. For now, she could only follow with the motions of the palace and it's people until she could find herself again.

"Seya-san... that is all. You are dismissed to the courtyard." Tika Seya would then be expected to exit the room immediately. Provided she did so, only a moment would pass before he could hear shuffling at the same door. ".. Come in!" Ketsueki would hear that familiar voice and inviting tone. She would be given passage to enter, and after the ceremonial proceedings, the guards slid shut the door. Genji was seen sitting in sieza in the same room he had met with her before. @chineseprincess had been instructed to scoot to one side, clearing the way for the entry of their guest. "Akiyama-san... show Pana your wounds. Pana... show me a demonstration, if you will, of your capability." These lasts words were said with nearly a whisper, he himself ever cognizant of the presence of the guards right outside the room...

Pana nodded silently and moved over to Akiyama. The same glow began to form, from both hands this time. Ribbons of life energy slowly expanded outward until they wrapped around her, then slowly moved to the patient's wounds. As before the stitching and forceful movement of skin over the wounds would appear. Any internal injuries would be healed as well. After a minute of healing, the light died down and Pana sighed as Akiyama was left fully recovered from her injuries.

Ketsueki entered and bowed properly, this time with a little more grace than from their first meeting. Her attention flicked over to the young girl curiously, but she focused more upon Genji as he spoke.
And she became all the more curious at his demeanor and the request. What was this about? She remained silent and presented both her hands to the girl called Pana - revealing the newly bound fingers. The middle and ring fingers of both hands had been bent backwards until they had snapped a few weeks back, but were now properly stinted and bound to try and heal. It was the most prominent of her afflictions, as the rest were easily covered with her kimono - and it was also the most hindering one.
Now, what was this girl going to be able to do about them? She couldn't help but silently ask this question with a brief glance to the Daimyo across the table.
Apparently that would be answered rather quickly, and Ketsueki watched with a bit of awe as clear medicinal magics were applied. The bones were mended and her fingers straightened properly. The ache faded away. When it was over, the woman slowly and carefully unbound her hands - surprised to find no bruising or marks. Warily, she flexed her fingers to find they were perfect, as if they hadn't been broken in the first place.

Genji could be seen beaming, clapping as though he had witnessed an amazing performance. He knew it: he had an excellent hand to play with Pana around. As the spell and his excitement died down, and Ketsueki's shock subsides, he then breaks a very charged silence. "Very good, very good! That was most excellent, Pana, and thank you! You shall feast well tonight, I assure you. Both of you have been provided rooms... and for now," he looked at @ketsueki, "I think you are surely most eager to experience your body and the world as it should be again, Ketsueki... you may depart the way you came. Make sure you are prepared for this evening," he said with a smile. Should Ketsueki depart, he'd turn to Pana, now that he was alone with her.
"Curious," he said, in a very patient sort of tone. "Tell me about your past. What happened, and how did you get here? I would like to know your story."

All the woman could do was nod, and carefully rise back to his feet to shuffle from the room. Now with her hands working beautifully again... what now? She would have to figure it out elsewhere.

Pana smiled when Genji complimented her work. It wasn't often she received praise. When Genji asked about her past, however, she returned to her frowning mood.
"My lord....It isn't a pleasant story." She said, avoiding eye contact.
"When I was very young I my parents died in a raid and I was left alone. Because of my size I wasn't allowed to do much even in the orphanage where I was raised. After becoming a young adult I ventured into the world looking for a way off Takawashi due to my powers. Eventually I came across a handsome young man who claimed to like me despite my powers....instead, he wanted me to nurse his workers back to full health so they wouldn't need to rest, making me little more than his slave. For most of my adult life I lived with him as the halfling equivalent of a footstool until there was an attack on his home. I managed to escape but around the time I met miss Seya we were attacked by bandits, as she mentioned."
She paused and stood to her full height, which wasn't even enough to see Genji in the eyes if he was on his knees.
"I will serve you, my lord, but my dream is to leave this land for good. I hear of a land far away from here where magic is accepted and my kind is more numerous."

"A far away land? It can be most difficult to reach such shores safely. Here, I will provide you the solace you require, and protection from those who would wish you harm. In return I require your services, as you may be very aware... the samurai are a... warrior administration," he goes on to explain. To him, Pana's story made a lot of sense. There were many out there who would value her capability, but are far less kind than himself. Genji's soul was a gentle one, and he had no intention of keeping her in shackles. "Were you born with these powers? Who were your mother and father?"

"I don't know...I was too young to remember my parents. I didn't even know I was a halfling until the slaver took me in. I always figured I was...just short for my age." She shrugged, realizing how silly it all sounded but not being able to give a better excuse.
"I discovered my powers in the orphanage. We had a rat problem and the owners set out traps for them. unfortunately for the rats the traps were flawed in that they didn't kill instantly. Whenever I found one still alive I would heal it back secretly and let it go. The owners never found out and just assumed it was a really big rat problem. I did learn of another power I had around the same time the slaver took me in, however...."
Pana began to make similar hand and foot movements to when she healed the others but instead of beautiful golden light a sickly black aura emanated from her. Wisps of darkness danced around her hands and fingers, a hushed but violent whisper coming from the black light.
"I dare not attempt this against someone so kind as yourself or your men," She spoke as she made the movements with her hands, "But while I am capable of giving life to people I can take it away just as easily."
She eventually slowed her movements to a stop, causing the dark aura and wisps to vanish into nothing.
"Since it and my healing are a form of magic, even something like miss Seya's blade is enough to negate my powers."

"Hrm... so you can control one's level of life, or death..." he said, curious of the origin of such a power. "Magic... as you realize, it is a very suspicious force here. But I myself have great appreciation for such powers. I have a better ability than most, I believe, in sensing them." He also learned that Tika's sword had been enchanted. Such weapons may have seemed commonplace for one visiting from the mainland, but to the average person in Katashima, the effect was quite rare. "Well... that is all. I've enjoyed coming to meet you, and we will meet again soon. I have instructed Nakatani to prepare a room for you... until that time, please enjoy the courtyard."

Pana stood up and kept her head down, bowing to Genji as she left the room.
"Thank you, my lord. I hope I can be of service to you in the future." She said before leaving for good.

Lord Genji had received word that another he had summoned, Koen, had just arrived. He was to meet him here in this room very shortly, and Genji had prepared himself. He sat in sieza behind a small, bare table, a black parchment and ink brush at the ready. "Come in," he said, signalling the guards to open the door and send in Koen, who had been instructed to bow his head to the floor and remain so until told to rise.

Kaen entered as requested keeping his gaze averted from that of Hizashi-sama, he knelt down in front of him placing both palms in front of him, on the floor putting his hands in a diamond formation and hanging his head almost in between his hands, not moving or speaking until spoken to.

"You may rise," said Lord Genji, who had just summoned for Kaen Kogoeshinu. "Kaen, is it? Of the Kogoeshinu family. It has come to my attention that you are practiced, of good health and age, and that your family has a very interesting gift..." he begins. "Please, tell me about this gift. There are no others present."

Kaen rose but still averted his gaze "Yes Hizashi-sama, my family has a 'gift' but they would rather call it a curse. An ancestor laid with a Oni, which caused magic to be born within the first born sons. I managed to hid it for years. They exiled me when they found out I hid it." He left out a hefty sigh, moving the hair away from his left red eye, whispering a few words to his left hand drawing a flame from a near by flame and it danced being no bigger than his palm, bowing before Hizashi-sama. With his right palm his opened a jug of water on his obi, pulling the water out, creating a dragon from it, swirling and going around the dancer. "I don't like to use it. But there is a certain beauty to magic. " He put his palms together creating a puff of steam. "I can't control it for too long, Hizashi-sama but I wish to know more. I can control it but not create it. But I've read some of my family were able to create it in time."

"Hmm..." Genji looked intently at the small water dragon, impressed even with his rudimentary element-bending demonstration. Kaen was going to need training for his gift to be of the most use, and this would have to be conducted in secret. Furthermore, there were only a handful of individuals capable of providing this. "I am very impressed to see this with my own eyes. We will have to work on developing that power... but as you know all to well," he said, "there are many who do not understand or appreciate it. We will have to keep this power a secret while building on it simultaneously." He began to write some things down on his parchment.

Nods in agreement "Yes Hizashi-sama. As you wish." He smiled a bit at this. People feared magic, this place seemed to relish in it, it was refreshing. "Magic is often misused or mistreated, just like a sword. I believe that just like a sword, one should learn to wield it properly if not they will perish." he said keeping his head down, "My father viewed it as a curse for our misdeeds. Often time the cursed one would be put to the sword, I suppose since I was the son for the Head of our clan, I was excused." he sighed sadly.

"I can certainly understand that... to understand the past, one may come to fear magic. It is perhaps not as widely feared today as it once was, but is still considered a taboo, and people are ostracized or even killed over its use," he said. "But for you... I believe it could be for the good of the clan to recognize that which exists, even against the grain of social judgment, and for that I think I will seek a training opportunity for you. I have something in mind, but I will send for you when the decision is made."
