Kaen nods still averting his eyes, he sighed "My family is a little more traditional than most, Hizashi-sama." he smiles slightly "What ever you command, I will do, I am at your service."

"Very good. You are young, and need more experiences... but it is not just in the realm of your powers. You are, first and foremost, a bushi. As such, you may be chosen in the days ahead to join a military operation against bandit groups in Kiyonai. You may be excused and head back into the courtyard, but be aware of this possibility. I will send for you shortly. Do you have any questions?"

Genji awaited in the private meeting room, in flowing robes of white and red. He sipped tea while he practiced writing poetry on a scroll of paper with a brush and ink. He was to meet a guest of utmost importance in a casual manner for the first time, his future wife-to-be, Sayuri. She would be led to the inner chambers of the Hizashi mansion, passed all the laborers who tore apart a corner of the compound and were beginning something new, where the two could find (some) relative quiet among the hustle and bustle of the day...

Physical Description: Sayuri comes from an old Katashiman family, The Hirayama. Still holding wealth into their family as well as having a family with many capable samurais, she made for a great marriage candidate and was sent to Lord Genji as a suitor.
She didn't get the name Blooming Lily of Katashima for no reason. She has a fair complexion and a nearly perfect smooth skin. Her face is slightly rounded with bright blue eyes that stare into your soul, an unusual eye color for the Katashimans. Her hair was grown out since her birth and has been never cut. It reaches down to her knees and is very healthy due to the care that she had taken for it. Overall she could only be described as a beauty.
Sayuri has been engaged before when she was only the age of 12. Sadly her fiance died in an attack before they were old enough to marry. Due to her grief, she was unfit for a new partner for a long time. She now has refound herself again and is ready for a new chapter in her life. Due to the fiance's early death, she remains a maiden.

While walking the way towards the inner chambers, Sayuri had been surprised by the state of the mansion. The building in itself was beautiful and serene, but it seemed busy with workers and servant were doing several were performing tasks in and around the mansion. It was only until she overheard the talk of the festival that had happened just the night before that she understood what was going on. She wondered if her arrival might have been an inconvenience to her Lord, but she had not been able to give him an exact date. Their journey had been a long one and several times they had needed to take a different route because of bandit activity. The guard that had traveled with her had ensured her safety.
When they finally arrived in the inner chamber, she would be let in by one of the servants. She would then proceed to bow down to her Lord before she would do anything else. "It is an honor to have been invited to your mansion, my Lord." her voice sounded sweet and gentle. She was dressed in a flowing silken kimono. The colors of it were white with only a few flowers on it, making it a delicate design. The Obi she wore with it was red. Her hair would flow freely over her shoulders, almost reaching the ground as she bowed down. She had taken some time to refresh herself after they had arrived. She had brushed her hair, put on a new freshly washed kimono and dabbed herself with a perfume of Lotus. She was sure however that the sign of her travel could still be read from her face.

"It is good to see you," he said, looking up from his brush and paper. He had been practicing his calligraphy while waiting for her. He expected her at any time of the day, and so naturally, he found himself pleasantly surprised by her arrival. For some reason he had figured it'd be later. "Long travel, yes? Some tea and lunch should be here soon, I had requested it be delivered upon your arrival." While he normally felt a slight bit on edge with visitors, for her he truly smiled, genuinely comforted by her presence.

Upon his greeting she would get up from her bow and take her place at the table with him. Her kimono flowing naturally about her body as she did. "It was indeed a very long travel my Lord. There were many reports of bandit activity along the route we took to get here, causing us many delays along the way. I trust that our messengers reached the mansion safely to inform you of them." She smiled at him. She had expected to meet a stoic Lord, but instead, she was being met with warmth. It was a pleasant surprise. "Lunch would be well appreciated my Lord." she bowed her head slightly to show her gratitude. "I trust that my people will be seen to as well."

"Oh, of course. There is plenty to go around right now," he said. "We have had quite an issue with the bandits... two of my people have recently been attacked, and they have recently sacked two of my villages. It will not be tolerated, and they are being dealt with as we speak. Soon, you will be able to travel in peace again, and at that time, I would like to show you around my domain."

"It must be hard to see your own people hurt in such ways. Humans can be truly cruel to each other at times, especially when greed has become their motivation. I am sure you will deal with them as is just to their actions, my Lord." she smiled at him sweetly. Even though he was telling her those things with a straight face, she knew that somewhere inside him it must have been hard to know he could not have protected some of the innocent. "I would gladly travel with you once peace has returned. I hear that Kiyonai has many beautiful things hidden within its borders. I wish to see them all together."
She would look down at the paper that was laying in front of them. It was clear that he had practiced his calligraphy for many years on end. His strokes truly beautiful with almost no flaws in them. "Some say that the calligraphy of a samurai will reflect his practice with the sword. If I were to believe this, I'd say my Lord's swordsmanship should be the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed with my own eyes. I could only wish my strokes would be as flawless as your own."

"Yes indeed... so they say." He smiled in a somewhat suggestive manner. His swordsmanship was indeed unsurpassed by many, though among the higher echelons of samurai society, he was required to study, rigorously, at the subjects of calligraphy, mathematics, martial arts, strategy, and politics. From this comment, he regarded his future wife-to-be as very polite and observant. "With practice comes perfection... Perhaps we will enjoy practicing calligraphy together." He set his brush down. Patience was an expectation among the nobility, as traditional discipline would demand he finish his work, and so he had finished the final kanji as he spoke. Now, he gave her his fullest undivided attention, looking her in the eyes. She was so beautiful, that flawless face threatening all his years of discipline, and he felt a sensation of longing for her company. Around her, he was feeling very at ease. "The first place I would like to show you is deep in the mountains, a difficult travel but well worth its end. Up north... a beautiful temple to the arcane..."

"Perhaps we might." was her only answer as she smiled to him while he finished the last of his kanji. She would lock her eyes in with his when he looked up at her. A small sigh of relieve would escape her lips despite herself. She had been worried about being sent away to somebody who was only after her families wealth and she would just be a tool to get it. Instead she was met with warmth and she could see the longing in his eyes, something she had not expected at all.
His age showed in his face, but it didn't bother her. If anything his experience could be read from all the lines. "That sounds wonderful my Lord." she smiled at him once again, not letting her eyes escape his. "I will gladly accompany you anywhere you need me, my Lord."

"Well then... perhaps you might accompany to the capital in Jeoncho," he said, revealing some small corner of his master plan to her, a gesture of close trust. "It is very beautiful there in some places." Refreshments arrived, and after the servants had left them with tea and sweet rice, Genji switched course, moving to more official matters. There wasn't much appeal in this direction but he had to be quick to build up his future family and their trust in his agenda. "I needed someone who is genuine and of good spirit. We may be about to inherit a great deal of wealth and responsibility. A survivor of the old Imperial bloodline from Katashima has arrived on our shores and is in our hands. We plan to act immediately, once regional instabilities are taken care of."

"That sounds wonderfull, my Lord." she bowed her head and smiled to him. She was pleased that he was already considering her traveling along for important trips. She knew a load of weight was resting on his shoulder and she wanted to share his burden as much as she could. If she could make his job just a slight bit easier for him it would be worth it for her.
When the conversation took a more serious turn her smile would dissapear and she would pay full attention to his words. She took a few small bites from the rice while listening, making sure her chews were soundless and would not disturb him. "That is a big claim for just one person. Do you have proof to back it up, my Lord?" she asked out of pure curiousity. She was sure the emperess Itami had not survived the civil war and as far as she knew, she had had no siblings. Maybe a cousin had gotten away, but the claim of a cousin might not be strong enough. "People might not be as willing to follow a war if they ain't sure of the claim for whom they fight. Of course, if this is indeed true, we should waste no time to rebuild the home we once knew." she took a sip of her tea and let the aroma's reach her nose. It had been rough on her to leave Katashima. Tawakoshi was very similar, but in many ways very different. Adepting had been an unnatural thing and being led by an unfamiliar face had not been pleasant. She was pleased to hear those things might change and she might be part of why they did.

"I have an ability.. a gift." He opened up about it to begin, shattering any ice between them about such a thing. "Magic... it is rare in these lands, and rarer still that it is seen. But as you may know, the Imperial family of Katashima carries with them a certain magical signature... one that doesn't necessarily grant any otherworldly power in its own right, but I can feel when someone gives this aura.." Genji took a slow sip of tea, blowing on it at first to cool it at the edges. "But, it isn't for me to tell the people. A couple authorities must verify this finding. In time, we may both meet with the dragon, Ryu-jin, and we will have to visit the Temple of the Wind Singer. First, however, I must make sure all our pieces are in order."

"I see. Forgive me for being very unfamiliar with magic My Lord. My family is not gifted and have tended to stay away from those who are. Surely you know how suspicious Katashimans are of any kind of magic, no matter how innocent it might seem." She gave him a smile. "However I admire your confidence and of course I will support you." She did believe him, after all, he had no reason to lie. She was also happy he would get it verified however as many other people might not be as easily convinced.
"If there is anything I can do to help you get those pieces in order, know that you are free to ask me. I wish to be in your service and to share the burden you have carried by yourself for all those years. From this day on I am yours for as long as you might wish me too, My Lord. I will truly try my hardest to be a good wife to you." She would gently place her hand on his own, her hands soft and delicate when they touched his. A sincere smile was on her face as she looked at him. Her bright blue eyes meeting his own.

The private meeting room had been set up as a nursing room for the sick Lord Genji to ensure that he would be comfortable in every way possible. It also made it easier for visiting medics and doctor to visit him without having to be led to the very private quarters of the family. It was here that Sayuri spends most of her days, by her husband's side. But this morning she had a special reason to visit him.
After his sudden awakening they had thought that he was recovering, but soon after the Lord had fallen even iller then he had before. He had been unconscious for days and the only thing keeping him alive was the cups of honey water they were trying to make him drink. His face was pale and the structures of his bones were visible as his muscles and fat were being eaten away by his own body. His skin was pale, making him look more like a ghost then a person. Sayuri herself had bags under her eyes of her lack of sleep and her hair was starting to lose its glow as she had not been taking good care of herself, being to troubled with worry. That would soon change though.
"Genji-sama, my love. I hope that you are able to hear me even when your body seems still. I wanted you to be the first person who was told. I have been feeling ill for the past week and decided to have a doctor look at my health." she paused and gently took his hand. It was limp and white with nails that were long and unkempt. She brought his very hand to her stomach, laying it there. "Our wedding night has been blessed. I am with child, my love. Your own heir, your own blood." she smiled through tears that had started to roll down her cheeks. She had never imagined that she would be bringing this joyful news to her husband that she wasn't even sure would live to see the child born. "Please get well soon. I wish nothing more for you to see your child grow."
Just as she was about place her hand back by his side, she could feel his fingers flinch just a bit. Her smile widened, taking it as a sign that her words had reached him. That somewhere in his deep slumber he had understood his message. She then placed the hand back next to him and got into her feet. It was time to tell the rest of the family.

Zu Fu would only smile softly as he usually did when Yamazaki came and picked them up. He 'had had a hunch' that they would be able to pass, but definitely surprised at how little credit a spiritual envoy had in Kiyonai compared to other parts of Tawakoshi like Jeoncho. Or maybe it was just this man, though the abandoned shrine Kazue had experienced was another thing pointing at this too. Maybe the lord of the land was at least a wiser man? This would however show when he would show up in a little while and Zu Fu sat down and leaned towards Kazue.
"Now... remember that it is me who's here to apply for a job." Zu Fu said with a light hearted grin, knowing that Kazue probably wouldn't be able to keep herself out of it no matter what he said.

Kazue would also stay quiet, she had done enough to scare the young man for now. She felt pressure fall off her shoulders as they passed the anti magic field, she knew she had some more freedom now. She would look around the mansion as they passed through the courtyard. There were spirits there, lesser spirits, and many of them too. They seemed happy and content, playing in the water and dancing in the sunlight. It made her smile, knowing that this was a place of comfort for them, a place where the energy remained right for them to want to stay.
"I know." was the only thing she answered to him, though a playful smile would fill her face and her eyes would shine at the thought of mischief.

Presently they were let through into the Private Meeting Room proper where Kojuro awaited them. He sat at the head of the room, dressed formally in a high collared dark green silk robe. In front of him were two embroidered silk cushions where Zu Fu and Kazue could make themselves comfortable. A servant already waited with a tray of tea and refreshments. Kojuro had been intrigued the legendary shaman Zu Fu had chosen this moment to make himself known at the Hizashi Mansion, at a time when they were preparing for war and change was very much afoot. “Thank you for your visit Zu Fu-sensei. I apologise for such a simple and … somewhat covert reception. Officially I am not accepting guests, and still not well enough to leave my room.” He smiled, making it obvious he was taking Zu Fu behind the curtain of this deception. While he looked rather pale, his eyes were full of alertness. “Still, your visit here is important to me. This is … your assistant?” he cast a questioning glance to Kazue. Yamazaki had given a rather unfavourable report of her, suggesting her to possibly be Zu Fu’s fancy piece or a demon of some kind. The servant poured tea and offered the refreshments to the visitors.

As they entered the room Zu Fu cast a glance on the young lord who seemed to be awaiting them. The lord seemed to be dressed like it was proper for one his status, though Zu Fu was still wearing his travelling clothes which were relatively worn by now and in now way did he resemble a guest on his way to meet one as politically important as Kojuro Hizashi.
Zu Fu stopped a bit and looked down himself before returning his glance at Kojuro and chuckled a bit noticing the almost comical difference. Zu Fu then bowed with a smile and sat down in front of the Hizashi lord on the cushion that were prepared for them taking his time getting his old body comfortable before listening to what Kojuro had to tell him.
"I'm all for covert meetings and deceiving your friends." Zu Fu said with a smirk and gave Kazue besides him a knowing glance. "And I think my travelling partner here might be into that sort of thing too. And I'll have to tell you, that she's probably better then either of us Hizashi-dono." Zu Fu said with a wide grin. "But I can hear on your words that you're thinking too highly about me, young lord. I'm neither a teacher nor am I important enough to have assistants. I am merely Zu Fu, and while I'm pleased to meet you too, I was driven here as much by necessity as in desire to be among good company." he said and nodded politely and hoping that Kazue would introduce herself as she saw fit. If she introduced herself as a spirit or not wouldn't bother him at all as many things would be laid bare today.
Zu Fu looked at Kojuro and for a brief second and he'd likely notice how Zu Fu's expression became slightly darker and more grim before turning back to his usual positive mood. "Much is changing in Tawakoshi right now, and even men of tradition like us must move with the winds of change or risk having our roots pulled up by the storm." he said and folded his fingers in front of him. "I have spent much time in the Temple of The Wind Singer, and it almost appears as if it was too much time and that I left too late - though somehow events have coincided as they should and I can only be thankful. But the invisible tides and currents that guide the spirits, people and the earth itself tell me that we have not met today only to share a cup of tea." Zu Fu said and looked at Kojuro awaiting his response before continuing with his proposal.
