The Village of Naoki
Throughout the empire, the popularity of the Empress waxes and wanes. Some places are fiercely loyal to her, while others are bitter and resentful, and yet others still couldn't care less as to who was in charge. However, few places are more loyal than the little village of Naoki. As evidenced by the name, its people (especially the mayor) are fanatically loyal to the Empress, despite the fact that she has never deigned to set foot in such a remote and insignificant cluster of homes. Although the town is poor and run-down, it has somehow managed to erect not one, not two, but three twelve-foot stone statues of the Empress. One stands in the center of the village, overlooking the townsfolk as they go about their day-to-day business, while the others stand guard by the roads in and out. After all, according to the Mayor, the town is kept safe under the Empress' watchful gaze. Various smaller shrines and effigies to the Empress can be found scattered around the town, often showered with flowers and other small offerings.
