Rakka Hoshi no Sanymaku (Mountains of the Falling Sun) These mountains are the homeland of the Shiniga Clan. They control the vast majority of the western mountain range. These mountains are filled with forests, villages and cities, shrines, plains, valleys, rivers, ponds, farms, dojos, remains of lost or dead tribes, and Shiniga Ancestors only know what. Samurai, Shiniga Ashagiru, and Shingami Priests can commonly be found due to Shiniga's devotion to these mountains, as if they were one with the universe and the mountains spoke through them. They love these mountains as they love the Empress and their Daimyo.

The Hitokiri and Ren popped out at the base of the mountain from a small hole in the ground. To do this, they had a ladder carved into the stone. Looking down, one just sees a hole, but from the bottom, you will find this ladder with your hands. A one way trip.
"We need to head east/southeast. By time we get there, it should be dark. We can scope out what we find and make a decision before the night is over. It's just now morning. I've brought some items for mental and physical fatigue plus a few potions, not to mention Shinigami Mist Scrolls to add some cover when we make our move. Mind you, we may have to kill a couple of Ronin while there if we come across them. We can not be spotted." The Hitokiri spoke to Ren before breaking off into a leap like movement, taking off through Firudo no Okome and into the northwestern tip of Uesung territory.

"Mmmmh..."
That was the only reply Ren offered the Hitokiri in response, a sort of disinterested grunt. Ren seemed to be in deep contemplation of the mission set before him, mostly disinterested in his partner for now, who seemed to be going over the list of supplies he brought. In reality Ren preferred to work alone in missions, even when his partner was a hitokiri. They were great fighters, but Ren felt the Star Reapers were much better suited for missions that required stealth such as these.
Even now all of the words he was saying, Ren already knew, he had already pinned down all these details long ago, did this man think he was too incompetent to know these things. Ren peered at him from behind his black mask for a moment as they moved along through the black rice fields, as if sizing him up. While the Hitokiri lept and sprinted through the fields deftly, the star reaper samurai seemed to float through them at a similar speed, hardly making a noise as he did so.

The Empress' rider had been waved through the check point and through into the lands of the Shiniga. He dared not leave his horse, too spooked by the shadows and the whispers of the Black Lotus lands. He was simply following the road until he could deliver his message to the Daimyo has he had been instructed to do.

The mountains were misty, but one could see a fair distance ahead of them. The Shiniga made no presence, remaining hidden within the mist and making sure the rider had safe travels. It would truly be a spooky ride with all the sounds. Howls and growls, hoots, screeches and chirps, and a 'wooshing' sound every so often as a Samurai got close, moving through the mists like ghosts. Normally not a trip that should be taken by a single messenger. Thankfully the Samurai knew to ensure the safe passage of the emblem the rider wore and they would do so.
