Surprisingly, Grandma laughed at his description of the terrible things they do to people.
“I’ve been to some tribal villages that do that kind of thing. I suppose it does cut down on the crime rate. Although I don’t necessarily approve of it, it is a shame some good old fashioned brutality can’t be used on those who deserve it in Gauldin and Isra. That’d cause thieves to think twice!”
Grandma nodded when he stated he was rich, she had figured as much.
“Well, from the sounds of how quickly the Goraian leadership cycles, you might be running the country next week for all I know.”

The man scratches his head, thoughtfully. He was quite certain the woman was just playing around, like he was. Still, being cautious always helped. "Yeah, right." He muttered. "Yeah, you can right all that stuff on yer report to the inbred in power at Isra. 'Oh look, Goraians are brutes, oh look, their people don't got enough to eat.' Bloody idiots...." He muttered.
After a few moments of silence, he opened his mouth again, clearly in contempt for what people think about Goraia. "You know, you buggers are all so high and mighty, but in our place, would you not do the same thing? If you were being ruled by bloody idiots, people who were just making things worse, and then demanding taxes for their 'aid,' would you not revolt either?"

“Report? You mean the book of my travels?”
Pulling out a journal of some kind, Grandma flips through it, revealing it entirely blank.
“I’d say writing things down is unnecessary much of the time, I’d prefer to keep my memory sharp personally.”
Raising one eyebrow at the man's tirade, Grandma climbs off the donkey she was riding, leaning on her cane.
“I’m curious to hear, what did the previous rulers do that was so terrible they got deposed? I understand you say they were idiots and making things worse, but things don’t look to be in a particularly stellar state at the moment.”
Grandma makes a gesture with her hand, highlighting the state of New Brimiarde.

Deciding this man was going to stop her from further looking into New Brimiarde, Grandma decides to leave and perhaps look into Sakand. Raising her cane, there is a brief surge of magical energy before the air around Grandma and her poor donkey shifts.
"Perhaps we'll meet again..."
Grandma says before there is a slight gust of air emanating from the position she had previously been in, now empty.

The Tenth Squad of the Isran Dawn Riders would target New Brimiarde. Their mission was not necessarily to create havoc or damage anything, unless of course the opportunity presented itself, instead it was to check and see if there were any signs of a large military presence here, something that could be easily seen from above without flying into arrow range.

There was a sign of military presence. A man in particular, who was still waiting for the last of his damned onagers. He sighed, snapping his fingers and hopping onto his manticore, he took to the air. The beast would not use it's full potential yet, simply carrying the man to the skies for now. If the riders payed attention they would notice a black mist forming around the noble and then swiftly being pulled towards him. He himself drew a long gilded bastard sword with a flamberge and a large heater shield with the signature skull of the man's family. As he got higher, the beast he was on would hiss. Stroking one of the shiny black spikes on it he would shout to the israns. "Bugger off lads, before it's too late." He was not particularly frightened by whatever ranged weaponry they would throw at him considering there were not many of the enemies and he had full plate, along with heavily armoured wings to protect him left right and centre.

The Sergeant in command saluted the new foe before turning her griffin around to leave the area. A wave of her hand sent the other members of her squad leaving after her. Their orders were very clear on the matter: Find the enemy's military and avoid casualties wherever possible. Given that the man before them was a mage, they would likely take significant casualties in any encounter with him. So they left, but they would return eventually.

He returned his own salute and sighed muttering "poor sods" as he descended. He just hoped they would not return very soon since he would get his siege weapons and would no longer be present.

From the south, Isra’s First Legion approaches the city of New Brimiarde, marching in a formation with the First Cohort taking point, lead by Centurion Analiese Hael . (With Arya Shieldheart close by) The cohorts of archers are located centrally and flanked on both sides by infantry. Behind the archers, carts of siege equipment, some assembled, some not, are towed by horses. Among them, a few trebuchets are visible, along with ladders and two tall siege towers. Behind the siege cohorts, there is a token rear guard of heavy infantry. Sailing alongside the legion, the magnificent Depravity approaches, sailing parallel to the coast with its starboard side facing the shore, and its bow pointed toward New Brimiarde. Its starboard side is lined with mounted weapons- all manned and seemingly prepared to fire at a moment’s notice. All along the railings, archers stand at the ready alongside battlemages of The Enclave, including Jun of the Celadine and Eloria Tyrins . At The Depravity’s bow stands Empress Naoki , covered up to the neck by her buunvar cloak. Behind and to her right, is Lamina Manira . Commodore Gothmog Bloodsail stands at The Depravity’s helm. A short ways out to sea, a taskforce of the Isran navy is present. It includes fifteen empty and largely defenseless transport ships and four long, square carriers being escorted by six mighty warships. Each warship bears the ensign of Isra, but one also bears the personal banner of Valerian Kastimeer , marking it as his flagship. Additionally, four schooners are floating about somewhere keeping a lookout for anything approaching over the sea, but they are not particularly close to New Brimiarde, and indeed, are not visible. Flying above and around The Legion, approximately two dozen Dawn Riders are in the sky. They do not appear to be in any particular formation but instead are At a silently issued order, both The Depravity and the Legion come to an effective halt a ways away from New Brimiarde, within sight range but outside the range of the majority of weaponry save for perhaps the longest range of siege weapons.

Standing at the bow of The Depravity, Naoki looks ahead somberly to the city of New Brimiarde. It is to be the first target of this offensive. Having already ordered her forces to halt, Naoki spends no time contemplating how to proceed, already having done so on the ride over. Instead, she simply signals to Knight-Captain Calgary that he should direct his scouts to assess the city and its defenses, as previously discussed. Before proceeding with any course of action, Naoki wishes to know what sort of defenses are apparent, in terms of visible soldiers, walls or lack thereof, and the status of the city’s docks. All of this information and more ought to be apparent to one with a bird's-eye view, and it is the task of the Dawn Riders to discern it and report.

"Third Squad and Seventh Squad, mount up!"
The previous scouting from the First Company's foray into Goraian territory had already forewarned the Dawn Riders of the possibility of the manticore appearing. They had a heavy squad on standby, led by Calgary himself, ready to deal with this threat as soon as it appeared.
The Naval Riders were more heavily armed and armored than their comrades who had been here previously, as well as a tad slower. They came at the city at a steady clip, slowing down as they neared the walls to see what was before them in terms of defenses and the status of the city. Should the defenders appear to open fire, the Dawn Riders would pull up and out of range, observing safely from a good height.

Zagarus had just arrived before the invasion. Previously, he had been out on a personal expedition to train, which found its pinnacle in the Land Tiller's State, and he was back to business as usual. New Brimiarde had a heavy military presence, and was his current station, having been officially in charge of the city's transition and law enforcement since the removal of General Kazekaza. He stood upon the walls, sun glinting off his pauldrons, staring coldly in anticipation for their arrival.
"The dark wind blows..."
Though spoken quietly and to himself, as though upon command, the slightest change to the gentle breeze could be felt around him... one might swear it had gotten just a bit colder while standing in the caped man's presence.

Lord Volk was sitting upon his Manticore, it's wings flapping lazily. He didn't present arms yet, waiting for the enemy to get closer. He adjusted his silk scarf a little, somewhat annoyed that the people he though he chased off came back. He knew it was most likely a battle to be lost but he did not care. They were here to destroy what he and his colleagues worked so hard to build, so he would make sure as few got home as possible. He started to breath more rapidly, a black smoke coming from his mouth and nose.

The announcement of Lady Zaiyandorel's arrival came with the quiet click of the heels of her boots as she stepped from the Darkness that would, eventually, swallow everything whole. She was pale -- deathly so -- and her eyes burned obsidian, a gateway ... not to her soul, for Lady Zaiyandorel no longer had one... but a look into the abyss.
Like a snake, she could taste the emotions in the air, and although one could not see it from the elegant and self-composed picture she made in her snug body suit and split-tail coat, she was trembling inside with the need for pain and for blood and for remorse and regret.
And above all... death.
The thought put a chill of anticipation down her spine, and she stepped forward until her black-gloved hands could reach out and settle upon the parapets of the wall surrounding New Brimiarde. She was aware of Zagarus nearby, and Volk as well. But her shaded gaze was turned toward the Isra government.
"This is a little backwards, is it not?" Zaiya asked in her quiet tone, her fashionable hat tipped just so to imply that she had a measure of vanity as well. "We should have been on their land, wrecking their homes. But, I suppose we can still kill their people," she mentioned off-handedly, with joy and amusement threaded into her soft and silken tone.
From where her hands touched the stones... serpents seemed to slither free, a dozen, at least, soft whiffs of smoke coming off their obsidian scales. The shadow snakes slipped and slid and slithered down the face of the New Brimiarde walls, and then into the ground, leaving behind small patches of rot where they had touched once-living life.
Mm, she was spoiling for a fight.

New Brimiarde was heavily fortified. Several generations of fortification and expansion left a tightly walled city divided into districts, guard towers watching sentry from within each enclosed neighborhood. The Ithapur, wide enough for small ships (though several stone bridges prevent sailing too far up the river), led from the nearby sea, splitting the walled city into two. The walls would be heavily manned by archers. The walls, while still standing firm, showed scars and sign of past siege. The city, large enough to easily garrison thousands of troops, seemed prepared for their arrival...

Looking on from her spot at The Depravity’s bow, Lady Naoki produces a spyglass from within her cloak and uses one hand to raise it to her eye and get a better look. She seems more or less indifferent, unfazed. Whether this is born of genuine confidence, arrogance, or simply the result of careful self-control is hard to say, but the point stands that Naoki doesn’t seem to have enough emotion to fill a thimble at the moment.
“Hm. It seems as if they’ve seen us,” she remarks, somewhat sarcastically. “Big turnout, too, they were expecting us. … Have a look.”
Lowering the spyglass, Naoki extends it to her right, toward Lamina, presumably for her to take and use. Simultaneously, Naoki’s earring once again lights up with a marked intensity, making it known that she is issuing a great deal of telepathic correspondence- orders.

Physical Description: Jun is a human adult, standing 5’4”. She is wiry and fit at approximately 120 lbs. She has olive skin, dark brown hair ending just above her shoulders, and slight epicanthic folds over her dark almond eyes. Her face is squarish with a small chin. Her skin is dotted with battle scars, and her left arm is heavily bandaged due to an unknown affliction.
Clothes and Equipment: Jun possesses a vast collection of seeds, herbs, insects, and scrolls hidden in various pouches in her armor. These serve as reagents for her multitude of spells. Her armor consists of a customized, long-coat style gambeson that is stuffed with a matrix of seeds and plant fibers. Fitted on top is a set of brass-like, enchanted half armor (chest piece, pauldrons, and tassets) which gives off a warm aura. She has an open-faced, burgonet style helmet and coif of the same materials.
Her most notable "weapons" are Blackbean and Resonance. Blackbean is an elephant-sized demon crow which has served with Jun for many years as a mount and as a bodyguard. A minor enchantment allows him to disguise himself as a regular crow. Resonance is an azure blue longsword with a mind of his own. He can intercept minor attacks and can teleport to his owner. He can also use a personal reserve of magic to aid in the casting of a single spell.

Understood.
After receiving her orders telepathically, Jun's eyes ran across New Brimiarde's walls. She felt an odd pull, not just from nostalgia but from a dark presence residing among those walls. Despite her attachment to her former stomping grounds, she knew there was something, or somethings, hiding among the Goraian forces that she would have no qualms about killing. There was something so dark and terrible it needed to be put out of its misery. But what was it?
CAW!
Jun smirked. Apparently Blackbean the giant crow sensed it too.
As she drew Resonance and held its hilt close to her heart, she reminded herself that no matter what her feelings were, she would have to do whatever it took to protect the Isranian Army, and that if they failed, Camilla would never truly be safe. She could prioritize siege equipment, soulless monsters, barrages of arrows, infrastructure, etc. But at some point she would have to take the lives of people who honestly didn't deserve it.
Both she and Resonance needed to grow up.
She meditated. She focused on the mantra she had invented while training in the Earthwarden's Sanctuary. Interconnection. With this energy of all elements began to swirl around her, particularly life energy. Thin wisps of light in a variety of colors swirled around her limbs and torso, with green and white being the predominant colors. Her body emanated a sound a bit like whale song, but softer and more drawn out. The surrounding air grew colder. Both Resonance and the gem on her rig became luminescent. (Charge 1)
Her eyes scanned in and around the perimeter of the city, as if she was looking for something specific.
