She stood to return his salute and then sat back in her chair, motioning for the Aaedanian to take one of the seats across from her.
"I would be honored to have such a noble legion serve under my command. We fought alongside one another in Aaedan and I was deeply impressed by the Redsteels."
She sounded surprised by the offer but took it in stride, an immediate acceptance of the statement the only other emotion she showed.

The two Riders guarding the main part of the Barracks shared a glance before the one to the left of the door, a slightly older man with hints of grey in his beard but a hard look in his eyes and sergeant stripes on his shoulders.
"Sir Brandeis de Sauveterre, that is unfortunately not for us to decide. Commodore Finch makes the decision. The Commodore is currently in a meeting, and will see you after that meeting is concluded."

Bartholomew took the seat that was offered. "You earned our respect, the charge against the wave of undead from the east was sure was something." He looked down for a second as if collecting his thoughts. He looked back up into his future commander's eye, "I'll be honest, I personally don't want this. This means my country really is gone," He seemed stung by the words he spoke, "but I have to whats best for my riders and Queen Nyx is correct in giving us another nation to serve." He took a deep breath accepting his own words before continuing, "My biggest fear is that my men won't be valued by the Isran government. That we will be used in suicidal attacks in an attempt to be rid of us." He maintained his eye contact, his glowing golden eyes reading Finch as he spoke, "I don't think you would do this, at least not without leading the charge... but I do not know or trust Isra."
He let his words sink in a moment before finishing, "I guess I'm hoping for some sort of assurance. We are soldiers, my men will die, I will die. We know this... In Aaedan we always knew we would die for a good cause. We don't have that anymore." His last words were sad, filled with grief for his nation. All Aaedanians would be this way for awhile, a gloomy bunch... but so would any who lost their home to a cataclysm.

She stood as Bartholomew spoke, gesturing for him to stay seated as she gazed upon the Isran City that stretched out beneath the sole window in her office.
"This city was founded on the idea that the people who comprise its heart and soul are all equal, that regardless of their origins, here we are all Isran , and the same will apply to the Redsteels. Once they become apart of the Dawn Riders, they become Isran, and will follow the same orders I issue to my Riders, for they will be one and the same to me."
She turned back to look at him, a glint of steel in her green eyes and the jewels on her blade shone in spite of being sheathed.
"They will be expected to endure the same conditions, and fight just as hard as my Riders do. I do not issue orders with the intent to waste any lives but the enemies', and they will die for the same cause that they died for in Aaedan...protecting the people of their City. All that has changed is the city in question."

Gregor let our a sigh of relief. The corners of his lips rose into a soft smile, "You I trust... I thank you, my fears are alleviated." He took on a more high hearted tone and laughed softly as he started speaking next words where spoken, "I suppose my next biggest concern is, what will the rank of Praetor become beneath the Isran military."

"You will be a Knight-Commander underneath me, in any other legion you would command a thousand men, but due to our unique structure the divisions are far smaller, yet far more powerful. Is that agreeable?"
Her tone suggested that it didn't particularly matter if it was agreeable to him or not, thats the rank he is getting. She sat back down as she spoke, pouring a cup of wter for herself and gesturing for him to do the same if he wished.

"Even if it was, I'm in no place to argue." He said this knowing full well his future position. He would still be commanding the Redsteel, there was no reason to complain. "Would you ask anything of me?"

"A full report of the capabilities you bring and the logistics you will require, as well as a history of your unit. Finally, I expect a full review when they arrive here, a chance to show off your skills to the people and myself."
She took a sip of water and set the glass back down, continuing to evaluate the man in front of her, to see what he was like, how he would fit into her command.

Gregor nodded, placing his hands across his lap, "I could address that to you now; if you prefer a written report I will need a few hours to prepare it proper. As for the review, I will spur men to purpose and we will not disappoint." Gregor spoke with confidence, but he was unsure as to how Isra handled reports. Aaedanian command mostly dealt with word of mouth unless it was particularly important information.

"I should like it on paper, but there is no rush on this, it is mostly for record-keeping and personal curiosity."
The man was clearly used to a slightly more informal command structure, which was fine with her, she tended to keep things a bit less formal than some of Isra's other generals anyway, so long as her officers could show the proper amount of decorum when called upon.

"Our history is a long one, perhaps I'll turn the report into a tome." A good idea he thought, such things would help ensure that Aaedan is remembered despite being lost to history. Gregor stood, "I believe another was making way here behind me, unless there is anything else..."

A grey-haired, tired-looking messenger carrying the Chancellor of Isra's writ of authority walked through the Dawn Rider Barracks to the door of the High Commodore's office, presenting a folded and sealed piece of paper to the guard at the door.
"Message for the Commodore from Greyiron. Urgent."
With his few short words over, the old courier turned back, pacing back out through the barracks and back to the atrium of the Chancellor's office, where he ran messages and advised the leader. Upon closer inspection, the dispatch would be not only sealed with the Chancellor's seal of office but also with a short invocation that would shock anyone unauthorised who was trying to open it. Once opened, Elizabeth would be able to read it saying;
Commodore, Requesting your presence in my office post-haste. Please prepare for report on Land-Tillers' involvement and subsequent activities. Greyiron
Although he didn't use his title in such memos, he did sign it besides with a few sharp strokes of his quill.

The Guard nodded and accepted the envelope, sliding it under the door to the Commodore. A sharp knock on the door followed that, a single knock being the code for delivery.
Liz got up from her desk to retrieve the envelope. She had yet to receive all the after-action reports from her commanders but had a good overview of how it had gone from a military perspective.
"Just great." She was not overly fond of the Chancellor, had not appreciated his lack of support for her Riders in the Aaedanian conflict. It was with a sigh that she got up and exited the Dawn Rider's Barracks to go meet with Chancellor Greyiron.

The next day, Eilagwen appeared bright and early at the barracks, per Knight-Captain Calgary's request. The Feast had been the night before, and much of Isra seemed hung over and bleary-eyed. Not the elf, however. Her pale, meadow-green eyes were keen and aware, her white-gold hair drawn up into a bun to keep it out of her face, and her body clad in the outfit she usually wore for her adventuring, now that she was no longer a part of the Naenithiel Rangers. She had her elven sword at her hip, her quiver at her back, and her elven bow in her hand, unstrung. To the first person she saw, she asked a very simple question. " I am here by request of Acting Commodore Calgary. Where can I find him?"

Like Eilagwen, he looked rather spry this morning, his activities last night being nothing unusual for him. A morning flight was usually enough to clear up any lingering hangovers, and he had just finished a quick breakfast. His uniform was significantly less ornate then the one he had worn previously, intended for field use rather than special events. A shield was sling across his back, and his warhammer rested on his hip. "It was Eilagwen correct? Good morning!" He said cheerfully, "I see you have brought your gear, excellent. I trust you are alright with starting with sparring?"

"Acting Commodore," she said and nodded her head to him, both in respect and in greeting. She noticed his look today, and felt her opinion of him raise just a little higher. For all that he seemed a womanizer, he seemed to be an apt commander.
"Yes," she answered him, the only word that needed to be said.

"Follow me then."
Calgary, assuming she would follow, led the way through the back part of the Citadel, weaving around several hungover Riders carrying breakfast to their mounts following the morning's ride. He nodded and they saluted as he led her into a large room. Scratch marks were evident all over the place, as was a selection of blunted weapons lining the wall for practice use.
"Alright. You can place your bow over there, we can try target practice later. Ready?" He drew his hammer and shield and stood loosely in front of her. "If you want a shield or something, grab one off the wall.

She did follow him, as he expected, her steps quiet. Eilagwen took in the barracks, the people who passed and shot Calgary a salute. When they stepped into the large room she took in the scratches and the weapons, then looked at Calgary as he prepared himself.
She nodded to him, and then moved off to the side. She put down her bow, and the muscles visible in her biceps moved -- sleek, and subtle -- beneath her skin as she took off her quiver as well, and then her sword, setting them respectfully on a bench.
When Eilagwen stood in front of him again, it was with a shield on one arm and her own spiked mace held in a grip that spoke of her familiarity with the weapon. She squared off against him. Unlike most women who might have been a foot or so shorter than he was, she was pushing six feet and had a lithe, tight, and compact body given her elven nature.
She dropped into a comfortable defensive position, and then nodded to him. It seemed this woman didn't speak unless it was required or necessary, and took most of what she did with a solemn seriousness.
