Physical Description: Riley Fletcher is a red-haired human standing 6 feet in height, with the body of a trained soldier. His hair has been described as "red and floppy" and his clothes always seem to be their cleanest. Cheesecake is a fairy standing 6 inches in height, wearing a pink skirt. She has short blonde hair with a tiny cowlick that never seems to go away no matter what.
Clothes and Equipment: Riley's normal attire includes his red armor and green-tinted plate pieces and his green scythe with an amber blade. The scythe was a gift from the archfey themselves. Riley will be the first to admit a scythe isn't actually a viable weapon but the archfey, living in another plane of existence and having no idea what humans consider weapons, gifted him one thinking that because "it's super awesome-looking" it must be a proper weapon.
He keeps a longsword and shield as a backup for when the archfey are proven wrong. Along with his weapon, Riley carries with him standard adventuring gear as well as healing potions for when they're traveling. Cheesecake's small size means she's not able to carry much more than her rapier (essentially a metal toothpick).

"Uhh..." He was at a bit of a loss what to give for his name. It had been a long time since he had engaged with another person in a conversation that went on for so long that he was expected to give his name. Often he would give a very common name, something fake and easy for him to remember - but he wasn't the most creative people and the 'question' caught him off guard. "Wolf is fine," he settled, deciding shortly after speaking that he could have chosen quite a few worse names to give out. "I'm of no use on spiritual journeys, or honouring lost loved ones, but I could use a drink. It's been a while since my last one." It had been exactly six hours and twenty minutes. He was no drunk, but that day had been a hard one... ( Riley Fletcher and Cheesecake ) He was hiding something. Wanted bandit? Mass murderer? Secretly a werewolf? Animal lover? Wolf was too common a word to be a proper name. Then again, he did name his companion after a fluffy kind of cake. Either way, Riley didn't seem to concerned. If he had wanted him dead, Wolf would've done so when his back was turned. Riley nodded when the praying proposal was denied. "Yeah, I understand. Well, either way I'll treat you to a drink before we go our separate ways." Oddly enough, it was Cheesecake who pointed the drink out first. With a chirp, Cheesecake pointed to a bar serving alcohol. "Oh, perfect. Hopefully they have some good ale." Riley said as he confirmed Cheesecake. The three eventually made their way over to the drinks where Riley purchased two drinks and gave one to Big Bad Wolf. "So, if you're not from here, where do you hail from?" He asked as they sat a nearby table. Cheesecake had somehow found a pretzel and was busy stuffing as much of it into her mouth as she was able to.

Big Bad Wolf
New
Roleplay posts: 7
Physical Description: There comes a time in the life of every child where the world seems larger than life; so full of adventure, magic, and surprises without any thought for its dangers.
It is these times when parents begin to scare their children into safety and obedience, when they begin to tell the age-old cautionary fables and fairy tales with the sole intention of using a child's imagination against them. There are countless such tales, each warning against many of the dangers a child can encounter in life - from trusting strangers, to not calling false alarms.
Yet out of all of the varied and wonderful characters of these stories, and all of the villains, there are none more condemned and reiterated than the Big Bad Wolf. All sensible children fear meeting him, and all wise adults remember the warnings derived from his tales.
But the Overworld is a magical place. A place where many tales have a basis in its long and unrecorded history. A place brimming with mystical energies that run underneath the world; through the stone of the mountains and the trees of the forests, into the words written in books and the imaginations of children.
In such a world, containing places where magic concentrates and becomes manifest in an unimaginable variety of ways, who is to say that if enough people believe in something, that something can't be brought to life? Who is to say that all the children in the world, fearing the Big Bad Wolf, haven't inadvertently created him? That he is not waiting right now in the woods, as physical as you and me, for a little girl wearing a red hood and carrying a basket of food?
But what if, in that innocent tendency of children to do so, the Big Bad Wolf was not just brought to life as an terrifying fairy tale, but as something more? As a man with a wolf's shape, who cannot possibly be pure evil, for what doesn't have just a little bit of good in them?

Accompanying Riley and his small friend, the man took the drink purchased for him and took a small gulp. "It's not bad ale," he said, taking a pouch with a few coins left in it and counting the amount he had left. It seemed rude not to buy the man a drink back, but he'd have to wait and see if he could afford it. "I've had worse, but at some stage you stop caring about the quality of the drink as long as it is one."
In response to Riley's question, 'Wolf' didn't see any reason not to just tell the truth. "Do you know of the Usque Ar Nalma? The giant, 'magical' forest that stretches from the edge of The Free Plains to... Well, who knows? It's not the most well known forest, or I guess I should say a lot of people know of it but they don't really know what's in it. There's the Usque itself, there's the Forgotten Usque deep towards the centre where no-one goes and probably a dozen more besides. I'm from one of those ones bordering the outside, where you can still find a few villages here and there."

Age: 30
Physical Description: Alden is 6 even, with shoulder length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid set cheek bones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well muscled body of a swordsmen, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one where to take more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris's there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Alden rarely removes his shirt, but should someone see him with it off, they would find his body to be covered in scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding among the others.
Those of a more magical bent may be able to decipher the runes in his eyes and on his skin. Identifying them as sigils more commonly found on magical items. The most obvious effect of the runes on his body, are increased speed, strength, and durability.
The runes on his eyes give him the ability to detect magical auras and residue, as well as allowing him to see through low level illusions and glamours. They also maintain his vision regardless of the current light level, and even if there is a sudden shift. His eyes are also capable of dropping into the infrared spectrum in complete darkness.
The rune work on his body enhances his natural strength, speed, endurance, durability, and reflexes to almost super human levels. The effects make him a formidable opponent for most magical creatures though only because they are supplemented by exceptional skill.
This means that all though he is almost super human in a straight contest of strength or speed he would most likely loose to most other magically enhanced humanoids such as vampires or were wolves.
Alden's runes also greatly increase his healing rate allowing him to recover from injuries that would normally take a few months for a person to recover from in a few short weeks. Not only do Alden's runes accelerate healing they also enhance it. A normal persons body will repair itself until it is functioning again then stop, thanks to the runes Alden's body will continues to fix itself until it is in near perfect condition. His healing abilities enhance his already prodigious stamina as it repairs muscle damage and lactic build up and it also increases longevity as he does not accumulate long term damage as most people do.
Finally his body runes provide protection from people attempts to find him magically. Detection spells will be obfuscated their readings on his location being off by about 20 meters. Long distance scrying and tracking spells are only able to narrow down his area to somewhere within a mile radius. It should be noted that these protections can be overcome by someone with sufficient power or ingenuity.
His runes cannot be removed unless they are cut off of his body using an appropriate ritual knife and magic. If the runes are disrupted in any other way they will simply grow back in a few weeks time.
The final thing that only someone versed in rune craft and enchanting would be able to tell is this: The process of these runes being carved into his bodies would have been unbelievably painful. A normal person would have been driven insane or to suicide if they had this happen to them. During the carving process un-directed magical energies would begin to take hold and tear apart your soul. The pain this would not cease until the rune pattern was completed. This means the pain caused would be on a spiritual and physical level of incredible magnitude.

The children seem slightly disappointed when Jun escapes. Though she'd find that two of them quickly clung to her legs, hobbling her progress. Juniper and Rawr Rawr looking up at her and grinning as the rest of the kids continue to play. They were attracting a bit of attention but Rondon was a magical place so the odd construct wasn't so unusual, or so Alden imagined.
Jun's suggestion that he exchange the wine for another prize is considered. If he got sweetbreads all the kids would want the sweetbreads. Which apparently let you talk to the dead, though you needed a mask or face paint, as well as a hat or headband to see and hear the dead as well. Deciding that just being able to talk to the dead wouldn't be too bad for the kids he talks to the booth owner.
A few minutes later he has enough sweetbread for all his kids and even one for himself. He hands it over and they eagerly stuff their faces. Jun's hangers-on detaching themselves to eat. It leaves them sticky crumb covered messes and Alden produces a handkerchief. One thorough dad cleaning later and the kids are once again clean.

After finishing he shook his head. "Never heard of it, I'm afraid." He replied to Wolf's question, "Although I doubt you've heard of my home town of Craster city. Though it is next to an enchanted forest appropriately enough. It's where I met Cheesecake. Found her one day with a broken wing and a bleeding gash on a tree stump. It took a while but I managed to heal her back up. We've been together ever since." Riley took another swig of his drink. Cheesecake had somehow managed to eat the entire pretzel but at the cost of being too round and heavy to fly away. She wiggled helplessly as she reached for the last bit of pretzel next to her. "Though oddly enough the forest isn't known for having a high fey population," Riley continued, "According Cheesecake, she was the only one of her kind she's ever seen. Weird, right?" Riley paused again as he looked off into the distance, clearly reminiscing about the old days. He frowned a little at the thought though. "I'm glad I found this festival. There's something I've been wanting to do for a while now, and a festival of the dead's the best place to do it." Realizing he's rambling, Riley trailed off and took another drink. "Sorry. So what do you do for a living? I'm guessing...mercenary?"

She has olive skin, dark brown hair ending just above her shoulders, and slight epicanthic folds over her dark almond eyes. Her face is squarish with a small chin. Her skin is dotted with battle scars, and her left arm is heavily bandaged due to an unknown affliction.
Clothes and Equipment: Jun possesses a vast collection of seeds, herbs, insects, and scrolls hidden in various pouches in her armor. These serve as reagents for her multitude of spells. Her armor consists of a customized, long-coat style gambeson that is stuffed with a matrix of seeds and plant fibers. Fitted on top is a set of brass-like, enchanted half armor (chest piece, pauldrons, and tassets) which gives off a warm aura. She has an open-faced, burgonet style helmet and coif of the same materials.
Her most notable "weapons" are Blackbean and Resonance. Blackbean is an elephant-sized demon crow which has served with Jun for many years as a mount and as a bodyguard. A minor enchantment allows him to disguise himself as a regular crow. Resonance is an azure blue longsword with a mind of his own. He can intercept minor attacks and can teleport to his owner. He can also use a personal reserve of magic to aid in the casting of a single spell.

Jun faux blubbers as she struggles to grab her share of sweetbread, the children hanging on her legs like massive, writhing, heat-emanating, weighted knee socks. It never ceased to amaze her how paradoxical the feeling of being around children was; it was one of the most wonderful feelings in the world and yet simultaneously awkward, exhausting, and sticky.
Now that all the younglings were gorging on ghostly sweetbread, Jun was back to enjoying the fresh air on her legs. Wearing a dress really wasn't so bad, once in a while. And despite all her adventures, eating sweetbread with a bunch of children at a festival was likely to be at the forefront of her "precious memories" collection. However, once they were done eating and Alden had started cleaning them up, Jun decided she needed to redeem herself. She decided it was time to win herself a charm of protection. Because in the end, Jun was still a fighter at heart, and she loved collecting those sorts of things.
She didn't just walk, she didn't just saunter, she didn't quite march, no, she strode over to the cork bobbing booth. And with the dignity of a princess, she placed her hands behind her back and threw that same dignity to the wayside as her face crashed into the water and she began chomping for corks.

"Well your companion won't have to look much further than the depths of the Usque Ar Nalma," Wolf replied to Riley. "There are a lot of fae-folk there, but they stay deep within the forest where it's nearly impossible to find and even harder to navigate. There are all sorts of creatures in the untouched parts of the world, from forest spirits to water nymphs. Maybe you could contact the guardian tribe who watch over it? They'd be able to help Cheesecake find her kind, though it might be difficult to reach them. It wasn't so long ago that those guardians protected the forest from border to border, but now they stay almost as hidden as the fae do."
He took another drink, a larger gulp this time, then placed his flagon back down on the outside bar. It seemed Riley was quite interested in his personal dealings, which made him a little uncomfortable despite his not showing it. "I just... Do whatever needs to be done," he replied, not exactly sounding proud of himself.

The children watch as Jun walks over to the cork bobbing competition, as regal as any queen. Only to smash her face into the water like a loon. This gets a chorus of laughs and giggles, which leads to the inevitable. The six kids, dragging one daddy, coming up next to her and dunking their own heads into the water. This creates a splashing mess of truly epic proportions that results in virtually every single person within a meter radius of the booth getting at least some spray on them.

The results were in after a few moments and corks get spat everywhere. Alden proved far less adroit when he was being forced to do the task alongside six children he was trying to ensure didn't drown themselves, getting only two.
Little Naoki had been the most hesitant not wanting to get water on her dress and also gotten only two. Juniper proved to be a bit more adventurous and got three, while Moonflower almost drowned herself but got four. Caleb made the biggest mess so excited was he but succeeded in snagging only two much to his annoyance when his twin Kae went about things a bit more methodically and got four. Rawr Rawr surprising everyone by getting three.
The littlest boy seemed almost deliriously happy to have gotten so many while Moonflower crows. "I DID I WON, I WON! I DID BETTER THAN DADDY AND JUN!" She dances about triumphantly holding up her corks like they were the horns of some great beast. Kae meanwhile is smirking at Caleb and the other boy is scowling. "You cheated!" "Nuh-uh, I'm just better than you." "Nu-uh." "Uh huh." This goes on for some time as Alden collects the prizes.

It seemed Riley was quite interested in his personal dealings, which made him a little uncomfortable despite his not showing it. "I just... Do whatever needs to be done," he replied, not exactly sounding proud of himself. As Riley took a sip, he shook his head and hastily swallowed. "Oh, no, no," He said immediately after, "She's not looking for her home. I can't even get a single day to myself without her hovering over my shoulder, she's never going ot leave me. Plus, other fey don't treat her well. Apparently sprites are such a low class for the fey they don't even have names. They see sprites the same way you see that mug you're holding. We have no desire to find them again." Riley watched Big Bad Wolf put his mug down and mention his line of work. He nodded silently. "Ah....carpentry, then." He said sarcastically. Sighing, he looked over to Cheesecake. She was more overinflated water balloon than fairy by now. Riley poked her stomach, causing her to let out a squeak that was a few octaves lower than normal. "I haven't really found a new line of work myself, " He said without looking up, "Mostly just wandering around. Recently joined the hero's guild so I guess if they have work I'd go to them. I've always wanted to open my own inn though. The Good Knight's Rest. The sign would have a picture of a paladin in plate armor holding a pillow and giving a thumbs up. Get it? Because it's...it's 'Knight' , you see, so it's a play on...words....well, I thought it was clever....Still, I'm at the point I just want to settle down with a nice woman and have a normal life. Fighting dragons, killing liches, making pacts with the archfey, it's overwhelming sometimes. Cheesecake's adventurous, but I can't keep doing this forever." Eventually he stopped and looked to Wolf before waving the issue away. "Sorry, didn't mean to bore you with my life story. I'm probably holding you up from having fun at the festival, huh?"

"Eh, I doubt the festival's going to be over so quickly that I miss all the fun," he replied in response to Riley's apology, a little of him even empathising with the man's ambition.. Or lack of it.
"Sound like you have quite an exciting life, not sure I could give that up for something as stressful and monotonous as running an inn. But we all do what we have to do, right?"
He didn't have much else to say, so he went silent. He focused on drinking his beer and watching the festivities around them, and wondering whether he should go and try any of the games he'd heard of. Not to mention it wasn't far off dark, which meant he'd have to decide whether to find somewhere to sleep or just skip sleeping entirely.

Riley Fletcher and Cheesecake

Roleplay posts: 121
Age: 25

"Fighting is stressful. Talking to people, doing bookwork, busing tables, that's easy. I don't risk my life when serving people drinks." Riley hunched over his drink, milking the last of it before finishing it up. Swiveling around in his chair and standing up, he picked Cheesecake up by one of her feet and plopped her on his shoulder. She nuzzled up to him as best as she could before falling asleep. Riley patted Big Bad Wolf on the back. "Anyway, thanks for drinking with me. It was good to meet you. I need to pay the gravestones a visit. If you ever need help from the hero's guild, tell them Riley sent you." With a wave he started to walk away.

"Thank you so much." Jun gleefully accepted the coin-sized skull charm. It wasn't very powerful magic, but she still appreciated little objects like this and saw how they could be used strategically. The charm itself was a very interesting design, weirdly enchanting. Holding it made her feel like she was holding a friend, or at least something benevolent. It was a rare thing indeed to be holding a skull-shaped object that felt this way.
Cool isn't it?
Jun: Isn't it?
She jumped. She started looking around, frightened at first; she swore she had heard someone speaking to her in her mind. When she realized what had happened, she grinned. "The bread..." She whispered to herself, pleasantly mesmerized. It was approaching sundown after all. The prize giver winked at her. She chuckled.
She rejoined Alden and the children, looking around admiringly at all their prizes while showing off her charm. "I think we all did very well." She then looked up at Alden. "You know, I'm so good at putting my foot in my mouth... Uh, something something, corks as well... something something."
She sighed. The irony of her statement was not lost on her.

Sasha Pierce Again something came to mind seeing her smile... His face might well have caught fire for all it burned. He couldn't help but stare. " I suppose that's true." He said flashing a warm smile. He was going to ask if he had met her before, however unliking that was, but the question died on his lips, from which a grin grew. "Is it that obvious?" He asked with a laugh. " I've not been here before, and it seems I have been missing out. " He said looking for a distraction hidden within the Festival anything to keep his eyes from wandering back to hers. To keep from staring... Why did women do this to him? It was not as if he'd never seen one. Never held one. Never kissed on--- No I will not go down this line of thought!

Argat slowly made his way into the festival, his armor clinking a bit as he went inside and looked upon what festivities and culture awaited him. He was biased to his own clans culture, but nonetheless enjoyed the eccentricity of the Rondon's. He slid off of his horse, handing it off to a stable manager and he rested his hand on the hilt of his sabre, simply walking down the street and observing, as per usual.

Alden Marshal
Widely Known
Roleplay posts: 1,420

The children were wearing their prizes proudly. Moonflower and Kae grinning ear to ear with their skull charms, while Caleb and Rawr Rawr wore little top hats, and Naoki and Juniper the headdresses. Alden was also wearing a top hat though he'd debated putting on a headdress since he was fairly certain it would count as humour. However, his kids had insisted he wear one the top hat as it looked much better on him.
Jun returns and the kids bounce up and down showing it off. "Look, look I won a skull charm! The guy says it has a protective charm!" Moonflower says practically glowing with pride and clearly fishing for praise as she holds it up for inspection. "We just got hats, apparently we can hear the dead." Caleb says his arm around Rawr Rawr's shoulder. "Whath?" Rawr Rawr tears off his top hat and looks at his father concerned, he looked on the verge of tears and Alden has to pick him up. Evidently, Rawr Rawr hadn't been listening to that part.
"Yeah! We need to get facepaint so we can see the dead as well." Naoki declares excitedly. "Apparently the bread lets you commune with them, the headgear lets you hear them, and the face paint and skull masks let you see them! So if you have all three you can do all the things!" She bounces clearly excited at the prospect of magically talking to the dead. Unlike Rawr Rawr the rest of the kids seemed disinclined to be afraid, probably a by-product of having a dad who told them exactly how he'd kill all the monsters that spooked them in books.

Jun was glad that her little foot-in-mouth incident had gone largely unnoticed.
"Hang on. Let me ask the carnie if there's a way to win the complete sets for everyone. I'll be right back. Uh, Blackbean, help Alden cheer up Rawr Rawr."
As Jun left to go speak to the game master, Jun's pet crow fluttered over to Alden's shoulder and started gently adjusting Rawr Rawr's hair.
...
A minute later, Jun had returned. "Alright, so it seeeeems like the local spirits are especially generous tonight. We should see some crowds gathered at the local graveyards. If we go find a headstone and shout, TONTOREY!, the spirits might grant us some gold coins... Or they might make us temporarily blind and deaf for three minutes... I think it sounds fun so, I'm gonna go try it. So if you and the kids are feeling brave, you can follow me and we can go tempt fate together."
If Alden and the kids accepted the dubious challenge from Jun, she would lead them out of the courtyard and through the busy streets until they reached a local cemetery, where sure enough, the locals were wandering around shouting "Tontorey!" and laughing at the results. It was clear the curses were genuine. Some people were wandering around yelling "WHAT!" and "Where did everyone go?" at each other, and others were holding up their gold coins. No one seemed alarmed and everyone seemed jovial overall.
Jun made her way to one of these gravestones and turned to the children, crossing her fingers and smirking. Then she turned back to the gravestone, took a deep breath, and yelled, "TONTOREY!"
CYokQR0A1-20
...
There was an awkward pause before Jun stuck a finger in her ears and made a swishing motion. As she suspected, the constant muffled bell-ringing did not go away. She slowly turned around towards Alden and the gang, with an embarrassed look on her face.
"OK, WELL, I TRIED MY BEST! DO YOU GUYS WANNA TRY?!"1-20

Despite the bright colors that found themselves abound, The Poison Witch was stalking the streets in her somber burgundy garb, her walking staff in hand. She was dressed a bit more festive though, with the fabric shimmering when it caught the light properly, though she seemed weighed down by a heavy pack on her back. Care was taken to at least tie up her hair and decorate it with a vibrant red flower. The witch stopped at a mask stall and peroused the selection available, fondly settling for a mask that was designed elegantly and somber just as she. From her belt, she retrieved 1 silver Rondi for the purchase and slipped the mask on. "Isn't this quaint?" she spoke with a light heartedness that betrayed her aura and appearence.
Finding a spot without too many people, Belladonna shrugged off her pack and set it gently on the ground. The woman opened the flap, and she would pull out a sheet of wood. after setting the sheet of wood on the ground, she Reached in her pack once again and this time pulled out a festive table cloth that she would drape over the wood. Reaching inside once again, she lines the table with a series of different bottles. Some short and round, others tall and slender. The designs on some bottles were elaborate, other were simple. the colors of the liquids varies from clear, to orange, green red, blue and... others seemed empty.
Satisfied with the setup, the witch waved her staff over the newly prepared station, and the crystal ball began to glow a ghostly blue color.

The Khan had little to think of, finding the celebration of the dead odd but not unheard of. IT was the wa the celebrated the dead that caused him curiosity. The bright colors, the skulls, whatnot. Nonetheless, he had enough about mindless thinking. What caught his eye was a new stall being set up, noting the woman that set down the bottles, and the crystal ball. He shrugged, curiosity getting the best of him as it had befre, walking over to the stall and looking down at it, and then his eyes wandered upwards to the woman. "Hm."

The witch waved her staff in circles over the set up on the ground and, after a few minutes of concentration, the objects were surrounded by a faint blue aura, similar to the one being emitted from the crystal ball. The wooden sheet, still covered by the tale cloth began to float up in the air at waist height. The potion bottles all bobbed in the air over it, giving the impression the stall was haunted by the dead. Belladonna wouldn't say it, but she adored celebrating the dead.
The woman retracted her staff back to her side. and with one hand she gestured up to the sky. In a smooth, subdued, but in a way still grandiose and dramatic she exclaimed, "Pick Your Potion is now open for business! Limited time only!"
