F E S T I V A L of the D E A D
Across the lands of Rondon, from DeRuiz to Selanca, and even across the Ryel River, the veil that exists between the Living World and the Spirit World is so thin, that the ghostly spirits of long-dead ancestors can cross over and visit with the people who are still alive and continuing their legacy.
Most are benevolent, seeking their families and loved ones if only to see how they are, but some? Well, some are malevolent, seeking to cause harm and mayhem to the living while they can, for once the moon finally completes its cycle, the veil becomes strong enough to keep the dead at bay once more.
In R O N D O N, the celebration is a sight unlike any other, with colors, candles, flowers, and music alight in the air. There are many games, many costumes, and many unique traditions that promise to be exciting for any who venture there!
So come one, come all to celebrate and rejoice in the legacy of our ancestors!
______________________________________________ ______________________________________________
There are many games to play in Rondon, more so than the usual card tricks or dice that the locals like to roll. During this festival, lord and layman are alike, and everyone is treated equally, for the Dead do not care if you are a fool or a king!
T O N T O R E Y
A classic game, take your chance with the benevolence of the spirits! Head to the graveyards or the ElEscrisuenos scattered around the village, and shout, "Tontorey!" The spirit at the gravestone or the shrine may bless you, or curse you (or ignore you, as sometimes they are want to do). There is no direct translation for tontorey in the Common language, but it could roughly translate to "fool or king".
[ Make an IC post visiting a gravestone or one of the small shrines scattered all over Rondon, at most door shops or home steps. Shout the phrase, and then roll a d20. 1-4, the Spirit will think you a King and bless you with a gold Rondi coin. 5 - 15, the spirit ignores you and nothing happens. 16 - 20, the Spirit will
think you a fool, and 'trick' you by making you blind OR deaf for only a few minutes (player's choice!)]
B O B B I N G for C O R K S
Rondi wine corks are uniquely shaped, wider than most and rounded at the top. A common game by shop keeps or found within the scattered courtyards of Rondon is to put your hands behind your back and try to catch the corks using only your teeth! Prizes are given depending on how many corks you can catch!
1 Cork 2-3 Corks 4-5 Corks
Catching 1 Cork gets you enchanted Sweet Bread, which grants the ability to commune and speak with the Dead during LaVerbana. Also, it's delicious. Catching 2 - 3 corks gets you LaMuerta's head dress OR LoSueno's tophat. They are enchanted to allow you to hear the Dead during LaVerbana! Catching 4 - 5 corks gets you a Rondi Minor Charm of Protection, which protects you from minor scrapes and bruises for as long as you have it!
[ Roll a d5. The number you get represents the number of apples your character was
able to catch. The number corresponds to the prize! ]
A P A G A La L L A M A
Control of the whip is a Rondi talent that shows off a person's skill with finesse, strength and grace. Six tall candles stand at one end, and you with a whip in hand at the other. The object of the game is to whip as many flames off the wicks as you can. Careful! Some Rondi gypsies are known to enchant their whicks to everlight.
The prizes for Apaga LaLlama are the same as Bobbing for Apples, with the inclusion that if you get all 6 wicks, you get Rondi Wine in the filigree pitcher as your prize! [ Roll a d6. The number you get represents the number of wicks your character was able to 'snap'. The number corresponds to the prize! ]

L a D A N Z A de L a M U E R T A
A parade through the streets of Rondon filled with music and dancing, to
celebrate the dead. Usually a young woman is “blessed” with representing LaMuerta,
who is usually paired with LoSueno, gods believed to rule over the Realm of the Blessed Dead.
Guitar music is usually played, as it is a Rondi belief that the guitar can be heard through
the veil that separates the Living from the Dead, no matter what time of year it is.
The parade usually ends at the Palace of Thorns, where a great feast is held. [If you post to the palace, there are celebrations everywhere, and a buffet full of traditional Rondi
(re: Spanish) food and wine and sweets. Everyone is masked, or facepainted, making it somewhat
of a masquerade ball! LaMuerta and LoSueno will be NPC posted, and other than the foyer,
ballroom, and adjacent sitting rooms and gardens, the rest of the palace is off limits to wanderers!]
E l C O R R E O de L o s P R E L A D O S
In Rondon, the Bull is known as being a Guardian of the Dead.
“The Running of the Guardians” is an age-old tradition of Rondon where the
young (or the willing) dress as the malevolent dead and try to out-race the bulls!
The winner of the race usually wins a chest of Rondi gold.
[3 obstacles, roll a d20 per obstacle. The person(s) with the number 12, or closest to the
number 12, get a +2 to their next roll. This number will stack if a person rolls the closest twice in a row.]
______________________________________________ ______________________________________________
S K U L L S and H E A D G E A R
The locals of Rondon know that when LaVerbana de La Muerta comes along, the veil between the spirit world and the human world is thin enough to walk through. The spirits of the past come back to their homes, cities and lands and will play tricks (or even harm!) if the spirits are malevolent. In order to protect themselves, and also as a means of showing honor to their beloved ancestors, the living of Rondon paint their faces or wear masks of a skull and wear enchanted flowers or hats so they can see and hear the dead, and also trick the malevolent spirits into thinking they are also among the dead.
Characters can purchase masks for 1 Silver Rondi, or get their face painted for 3 Silver Rondi at the courtyards (or at the palace) within Rondon. Facepaint is enchanted to stay on for at least 24 hours, regardless of damage done to the face. Masks and Facepaint allow the wearer to SEE THE DEAD while the mask or face paint is on and intact.
L o s E S C R I S U E N O S
There are many small shrines all over the villages and towns, usually to one side of door steps or door ways or in small alcoves built into the walls of homes. Candles, flowers, images of LaMuerta and LoSueno, sweetbreads, pictures, and trinkets that once belonged to the recently passed (within the year) are set there, so the recently-dead spirits of the ones that have only JUST passed might find their way “home” from the cemeteries and receive closure. These small shrines will also have written notes or messages from their living loved ones there, with a pen left for the dead to write a note back if they so desire.

Post in this thread to participate in LaVerbana de LaMuerta.
It is located in: The City of Rondon. The games are located in the various courtyards located all around the city. LaDanza de LaMuerta is located at the Palace of Thorns, and ElCorreo de LosPrelados is down the main avenue.
Daytime: You will not see ghosts or ghoulies in the daytime.
Nighttime: Every candle imaginable is alight, and if your face is painted or you have a mask on, you will be able to see the ghosts of ancestors haunting the streets, parties, cemeteries -- and they're probably having their own fun and parties as well. You might even catch a glimpse of LaMuerta or LoSueno (NPC'd by me!), and if you do? You will receive an awesome gift.
City Guards: City Guards are extra vigilant during LaVerbana, for they not only have to guard against living threats, but undead threats as well. Even so, LaVerbana is a week of celebrating honored ancestors' lives and legacies.

The S O R C E R E S S of R O N D O N smiled as she walked the streets of Rondon. Children with their faces painted demonically ran through the streets and Rondi wine flowed freely.
Soraya herself was gowned in bright blue and red and gold, the material wrapped around her like a second skin and split up to her thigh to allowed her the freedom to move. She wore golden and red roses in her hair like a crown, and even though she was painted, everyone knew who she was.
The children who had been running caught sight of her and ran toward her. The sorceress let out a chiming laugh and walked with them toward toward the Bobbing for Corks game. Pulling her lustrous, dark hair over her naked shoulders, she clasped one wrist in a hand behind her back, then took a chance!

From as far as Isra, Skarlet had heard of the Festival of the Dead, and it sounded right up her alley! Skarlet gravitated toward Rondon and was thrilled as she entered, it was such a nice atmosphere for a celebration of death. While she was in town she'd look for plenty of fun things to do, meet some ghosts, and maybe find a style she likes.
Her hair was grown out long enough to reach her shoulders. She did not yet know what to do with her hair for a new style, there were a few styles that she was considering but the jury is still out. As for her attire, Skarlet is wearing a black and purple dress with dark pants and knee high boots. Each arm was covered in a long glove-sleeve to protect her skin from the sun along with her parasol. Resting above her bosom was her necklace of communication.
She planned to go to the ball at the palace after she gets herself a mask and decide on what to wear. While going through the city-state she also tried out some of the games such as Bobbing for Corks, she searched for one that was in the shade so she wouldn't need her parasol. After listening to the rules, she placed her arms behind her back and bent over to try to get those corks. Her breasts threatened to pop out of her top while she was bobbing but the twins remained contained by her bustier.

Soraya laughed when she lifted her face, dry and without any water on it due to the enchantment of the make up she was wearing. She stepped aside to let Skarlet get her go while the gametender handed Soraya one of the coin-sized protection charms. The Sorceress was inspecting it as the children near her began to clap their hands in excitement at Skarlet's success. She got all but one! The sorceress smiled to herself as she watched the foreigner, and how the shopkeep seemed to fawn over the young woman and her 'twins.' Soraya clapped her hands gently at Skarlet's success. "Bravo," the sorceress said to the Princess, the sorceress' voice a little sultry and low, accented with the Rondi accent that Skarlet would become accustomed to the longer she stayed within the small kingdom's borders.

As much as Sasha enjoyed traveling, as much as she NEEDED to have the freedom to leave whenever she wanted.... there was nothing quite like coming HOME to Rondon, especially in the midst of the festival.
The adventuress had left her leathers behind and instead gowned herself in red and black, her arms and shoulders naked, her hair twined with thick red roses and her face painted like the traditional skull.
IT WAS DAYLIGHT HOURS so there were no dead about at the time. It occured to Sasha that it had been a while since she had made an Escrisueno for any of her family members, so she set off to the courtyard to buy candles and flowers and bits of paper with the intention of going to the cemetery to decorate the graves of her mother and father.

Adelaide made her way through the crowd, keeping her head low and hoping that no one would happen to recognize her and start a conversation. She found a semi-quiet place and rested there for a few moments, finally daring to look up and study the crowd. She was dressed in a fine black and red dress, with her hair tied up in a braid with various flowers weaved into it. She scrunched her nose up, still trying to get used to the feeling of paint on her face. The eloquent design of a standard skull was covering her face, and it made her seem more child-like somehow.

Aleksandr Ganim
New
Roleplay posts: 5
Age: Roughly around mid twenties.
Physical Description: =======================================================
Aleksandr stands around a somewhat average height of about 5'7 feet in total, just a tad shorter than what some could consider the norm for most. His whole body, particularly his legs and his upper body are built athletically, not quite rippling in strength as one would imagine but nonetheless the muscles are quite prominent given the opportunity to be seen. These muscles lack the heavy mass of strength, but instead are light enough to provide him enough agility to make his way around and the right amount of strength to use brute force when necessary. Aleksandr's skin complexion is surprisingly light and unmarked, the color itself being a strange mix between a tan but yet a very light, white color. Accompanying this is his quicksilver-like hair, shimmering brightly in the sun as though it were actually made of silver if viewed correctly, the top part of his head possessing longer strands than the locks to the side which happen to be cut shorter, though not enough to detract from the silky smoothness of his hair. Because of his half elven heritage, there are a noticeable amount of features on his face which retain these generic traits the elven people are well known to have, such as naturally sharp features, excellent bone structure, and of course narrowed eyes. Aleksandr's eyes are heterochromatic, which means that they both do not possess the same color, his right eye embued with a amber, sunset almost golden glow colored iris while his left eye contains a frighteningly stormy gray hue, a stark contrast to his much more pleasant to look at bright eye. Aleksandr can easily be considered a very attractive person to most people.
=======================================================
Clothes and Equipment: =======================================================
Aleksandr's clothing will always change depending on the environment around him given the chance he's able to. Most of the time in fairly warm areas with a good amount of sunshine, he would commonly don a well fitting, gray cotton shirt over his torso which would become accompanied by either a gray or white cloak sprawling over his shoulders complete with a hood, tiny little golden engravings along the hem of the cloak. The flowing sort of 'banners' on his waistline and with his tight but relatively comfortable manner of his clothing, he makes a bit of a fashion statement in that he appears what some people would consider 'exotic'. Aleksandr also possesses the necessary means of gear for combat when needed, preferring to don a cestus commonly placed on his left arm and a traditional steel longsword just like how most others would have. OF course, Aleksandr also happens to own just about three daggers which he carries on his person, a strange, flattened knife with a serrated edge on the back with a fine edge for utility, a stilleto-like knife for armor puncturing, and an arming dagger for general combat. He also utilizes iron vambraces to protect his forearms from point strikes and on a couple of occasions could be seen donning a gambison, something he considers an excellent alternative to plate armor. It isn't uncommon for Aleksandr to utilize ranged weaponry at all, seeing his somewhat rougeish demeanor take hold. Besides the combat equipment he may carry, Aleksandr also carries trinkets and whatnot with him. On his left ear is a tiny gauge in his earlobe, not big enough to gross out others or poke a finger through it but enough to bring attention to it.

Even to many of the other people who might have seen their fair trade of unusual persons that might have passed through this area during the festival, Aleksandr somewhat stood out amongst the crowd, not in his mannernisms or anything like that but rather, his interesting choice of attire. While it wasn't anything too wacky such as some exorbitant amount of jewelry or makeup as he had seen some people do, it was unique in its own way. Showing similarities between elegant elven textiles and the simple but efficient loose cloth of the desert nomads, the white cloak flapped softly in the wind, to which Alessandro allowed the gust to naturally pull off his hood and allowed his brilliant, medium length hair slowly pool down, stopping at just his shoulders. They were a brilliant, quicksilver color that appeared impossibly silky, and as if they were underwater, flowed alongside the wind.
Despite this striking appearance, one could denote the fact that he was a bit shorter than most of the others around him, though that didn't quite seem to be an issue to the uniquely brightly-adorned Aleksandr. His soft, pale lips were tugging at a smirk with every soft step he took on the path, his heterochromaric eyes which were fairly alluring to any onlookers itself, took in the environment and all of its beauty.

Roxanne wandered through the festival, entranced by all the wonderful sights and sounds and smells. It reminded her of the fairs she would go to as a child, and yet was exotic and exciting. She wanted to do everything at once, to try a sweet bread and play the games and win a hat. More than anything, though, she wanted to get her face painted. Her grandmother had never allowed any sort of face paints or anything like that, claiming that she wouldn't be able to recognize Roxanne with "all of that awful mess" all over her face. Now, though, there was no granny around to chastise her. She was free to do as she pleased, and to let loose and enjoy herself for a while. Checking her coinpurse, she found that she had enough to not worry about splurging a little bit, and headed over towards the face painting booth in the courtyard. A bit of paint, a glass of Rondi wine, and then maybe some games...this was shaping up to be a good day. She smiled at the booth attendant, hoping that they spoke common.
"Hello! Is this where you get your face painted? I'd like to be painted, if that's alright..."

Arya Shieldheart
Dedicated
Roleplay posts: 274
Age: 21
Physical Description: *Physical Description*
Arya stands at about 5'10, with an athletic build composed of lean yet strong muscle due to rigorous training in plate armor most of the time. Arya has pure white hair that tumbles down to just above the small of her back in flowing waves.
Her face holds soft features, which seem welcoming to any who look upon them. Her eyes, which are a ruby red color, always seem to hold a friendly, welcoming glint.
***
Clothes and Equipment: *Clothes and Equipment*
In combat, Arya will almost always be wearing a high quality plate armor made of white plate accented in black. The armor was made to fit the user and is more form fitting than plate armor of a lower quality, which makes it hug her features a bit, while also allowing a freer range of movement. On top of this, the armor is also enchanted, which lends it additional strength in the form of various wards placed upon it. With the armor, Arya also usually has a dark navy blue cape that is enchanted to protect her from the elements that may affect a user wearing full plate normally.
Arya's sword, which she carries at all times, appears to be made out of pure gold and is ornately crafted, though in truth it is only golden in color. The blade seems to always gleam with holy energy. The source of the blade's holy energy seems to flow directly from Arya's soul, the blade and its wielder's soul linked by a powerful bond. The golden metal sword is so much a part of Arya that she can easily cast holy magic or light magic through it as she fights with it, and if one were to hold the blade, it would surrender everything of Arya's being to that person, including every memory, thought, and emotion she had ever experienced and is experiencing at the time. If the sword, which is nigh indestructible, is destroyed, however, Arya would die.
At other times, she wears more mundane clothing, though it typically consists of a cloak that is a dark navy blue, similar to her cape while she is wearing her armor that is also enchanted to protect it's wearer a bit. For the most part, she summons most of her equipment through the use of light magic, except for her sword.

Arya Shieldheart the paladin had finally stumbled upon the fair city of Rondon in her travels. What she didn't know was the festival that was currently going on, or what it was for exactly. She was surprised to see the activity within the city from afar, and as she drew closer things seemed to grow a bit more bizarre.
The streets were absolutely filled with people on that calm and cool night, and most of them wore strange skull-like masks or other such similar things. Arya was a little confused, but her curiosity led her to investigate a bit more rather than just head to the nearest inn to unwind for now.
She seemed pretty out of place, walking through the streets wearing her white and black plate armor, no face paint or mask, clearly an outsider.
It seemed to be some festival from what she could tell, and there were games. Games were something Arya could do, she supposed, perhaps win some prizes. She walked up to a game that seemed to be her speed, using a whip to try and put out some candles.

A group of beautifully dressed young women came sweeping down an alley, obviously Rondi by their perfectly tanned skin, rich black hair and their laughing Rondi-brown eyes. Their faces were painted in different designs of skulls and flowers, their lips like a skeleton's grinning smile. Golden roses and red chrysanthemums and blue daises were thread into their hair, and their skirts whispered about their long legs. Brilliant fans were in each of their hands, Rondi-woven shawls draped over naked shoulders with beautiful threadwork inlaid into the design of birds and flowers and vines and leaves. They brushed by Adelaide Burns, and one of the girls -- this one with hazel eyes instead of the usual Rondi brown -- stopped to look at her. Although Adelaide wasn't doing anything to make her stand out, natives of Rondon could tell when someone wasn't. The girl pulled her bright red shawl up over her shoulders and left her friends -- who were making their way to the cemetery -- to come to Adelaide. " Ola," the young girl greeted the other. " You are new to Rondon, si?" she asked, taking it upon herself to sit beside Adelaide. " Are you enjoying LaVerbana de LaMuerta?"

The many courtyards of Rondon were full of festival-goers and partiers, with decorated of garlands of flowers and paper strung between buildings, lively guitar music in the street, and the smell of traditional Rondi food spicy and heady in the air. The sun was still up, for now, but it would not be very many hours until dusk settled, and although many of the foreigners wouldn't know it, that was when the fun would TRULY begin.
___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________
As Roxanne Fletcher traveled the streets to look for face painting, coming upon a square where such a young woman was set up. Her dark hair was piled upon her head with flowers and ribbons, and she wore the traditional garments of someone who enjoyed wealth in the merchant class. Although her face was painted, tell-tale signs of middling age could be seen at her neck and her hands -- she was no fresh spring flower, but neither was she a wilting bud. She was currently painting the face of a young man, her array of color pots and powders and charm all around, and as Roxanne watched, she finished her work, dipped her fingers into a pouch for glitter and spoke Rondi words before blowing the powder in his face. He blinked and coughed a little, then exchanged a quick thank you with her before he left his seat. When the young man saw Roxanne, he grinned a devilish smile -- only accented by the skull he now wore on his face, and gestured in a grand and charming way to take the seat in front of the woman. She smiled at Roxanne, taking note of her pale eyes and hair and skin as she clapped her hands together to get rid of residue powder. " Aaah, I know of you!" the woman said with a smile on her face as she reached for a thick white brush that seemed to make its home in the largest of the pots -- white paint. " You are the White Lady of the Palace. The Savior of the Prince, no? I am Dona Salvadorez," she said. Given Roxanne's extensive stay in Rondon, Roxane would know that the "dona" implied she was married, an equivalent of "Mrs." ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________
The natural-faced man with the ethereal beauty -- and petite height -- was of course noticed. Aleksandr Ganim moved through the streets, quiet but appreciative of all of the music and sound -- it seemed the Rondi truly knew how to celebrate. But what was this celebration about? Every where he looked, men, women and children, regardless of their age had their faces painted with skulls. Indeed, very few actually wore the masks, but it seemed that familiar non-natives took to wearing them, not wanting to be "blessed" with the facepaint for a full 24 hours.
As he came upon a courtyard, there was a man leaning against a wall, looking supremely dapper and well-dressed. He had a guitar strap across his beautiful clothing, a hat settled low over his brow and dainty, pale pink flowers around its brim.
Yet... no one seemed to notice him.
He, however, noticed Aleksandr, and whistled to catch his attention. There was a cigar between two fingers, but it wasn't lit, and his dark eyes seemed altogether too... playful.
"I know you, don't I?" the stranger asked Aleksandr from where he stood, still lounged against the wall as if he had every right to be there. "Yes, I think I do. I think we have met before, no?" His Rondi accent was thick, but his Common was easily understood as he put the flame-less cigar to his mouth and still, somehow, took smoke from it.

She stands at around 5'9, and often wears cloaks or shawls to not draw attention towards herself. She seldom wears any type of makeup, and does not care how she appears to others.
Clothes and Equipment: She has an old bow that was crafted by her grandfather. She usually wears dresses and corsets, her favorite being a lacy green one with a darker colored corset. She is often seen in jewelry, but on rare occasions, she can be seen sporting her riding attire with boots and pants.

Adelaide paused for a few moments, unsure how to respond. She offered a smile at @mireia and folded her hands in her lap. She sat with good posture, although it was obvious that she felt like she didn't belong here. She looked composed yet a tad bit fearful. "Ah, uh... fairly new, yes. I came here once or twice as a child." She spoke softly, but just loud enough for the girl to hear. "It's beautiful here. I really do enjoy my time whenever I come. It's a shame I can't come here more... are you a local?"
Adelaide lifted a hand to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. She looked back to the crowd, found no one she knew, and looked back at her. She seemed a bit fidgety and impatient, but for no apparent reason.

Clothes and Equipment: Osseus is almost always wearing the ermine-lined cloak of office that goes with its appointment as Seneschal of Aire Manor. It rarely goes about armed, but often carries a parchment scroll and ink quill to make a note of any duties it needs to perform.

That there was a festival in Rondon that honoured the dead was a fascinating idea to Osseus, so when Aleister Crowley had surprised the skeleton with the idea of a much needed vacation from their duties in Helmfirth, just the two of them, it had been delighted. Seeing all the candy-skull faces, Osseus decided before they had entered the town proper to ditch its most recent skin, and go au naturel. The skin discarded and folded neatly inside a travelling bag (also made of human skin), Osseus walked in its skeletal form down the streets arm in arm with Aleister, wearing nothing but a cloak that left little to the imagination especially from the front. It spotted the face painter at work in the square. “Lord Aleister, we must!” it exclaimed, pointing a bony finger, the blue orbs of light that were its eyes seeming to grow brighter, and it tugged a little at its companion towards the human lady with the flower crown and the paints.

Sasha was on her way to get candles and sweets and flowers for los escrisuenos for her parents grave when she heard the crack! of a whip, and the delighted calls of a small crowd that had gathereda round Arya Shieldheart . Intrigued, the Rondi adventuress made her way over, a little saunter to her hips so her colorful skirts could swirl. It wasn't often that Sasha dressed in gowns at all, given her line of work, so she appreciated the opportunity to be feminine (and demonic) looking. Everyone watched as Arya Shieldheart -- pale eyed, pale faced, pale haired -- snapped the whip with surprising accuracy at the tall candles on the other end, the skull-painted locals and gypsies watching and clapping with every strike. Sasha herself smirked a little, her weight rocking to one rounded hip as Arya collected her bottle of Rondi wine. The adventuress spoke to the foreigner, " Not bad," she complimented her. " I'm not so talented, but I think I'll give it a shot." The Rondi woman stepped forward to take the whip in hand and waited for the candles to be lit. A male gypsy in a blue brocade vest winked, and all wicks immediately inflamed. Rotating her wrist once, Sasha got to snapping! Htud9oKw1-6[/b] 1-6

" Verdad?" Mireia asked with a perk of her dark brow on her painted face. Strands of her dark hair fell across her cheeks and she shook her head, brushing them impatiently back over her shoulder. " I am from Selanca," she said, another large city of Rondon (yet not it's largest), that was known for its gold mines and gold work. She didn't, however, reveal that she was the daughter of its lord, nor that the girls that had traveled on without her were, in fact, her ladies in waiting. It was easy to get lost in a crowd like this, and it wasn't even sunset yet! " I believe in the mystery of LaVerbana," Mireia said to Adelaide Burns . " So I will call you Reina, and you will call me Mira, si? Would you like to come play tontorey with my friends and I, Reina?"

Riley Fletcher and Cheesecake
Dedicated
Roleplay posts: 121
Age: 25
Physical Description: Riley Fletcher is a red-haired human standing 6 feet in height, with the body of a trained soldier. His hair has been described as "red and floppy" and his clothes always seem to be their cleanest. Cheesecake is a fairy standing 6 inches in height, wearing a pink skirt. She has short blonde hair with a tiny cowlick that never seems to go away no matter what.
Clothes and Equipment: Riley's normal attire includes his red armor and green-tinted plate pieces and his green scythe with an amber blade. The scythe was a gift from the archfey themselves. Riley will be the first to admit a scythe isn't actually a viable weapon but the archfey, living in another plane of existence and having no idea what humans consider weapons, gifted him one thinking that because "it's super awesome-looking" it must be a proper weapon.
He keeps a longsword and shield as a backup for when the archfey are proven wrong. Along with his weapon, Riley carries with him standard adventuring gear as well as healing potions for when they're traveling. Cheesecake's small size means she's not able to carry much more than her rapier (essentially a metal toothpick).

Arriving on his own, Riley walked into the festival area casually. Wearing a nice dark red tunic and matching pants, his typical armor and weapons were nowhere to be seen save for a plain longsword strapped to his back. He wore no mask but floating next to him was Cheesecake, wearing a white skull mask that covered her entire body to the point she looked like a floating head with a blonde cowlick. She shook enthusiastically as they walked through the crowds to the food stands. Riley was more preoccupied with the decorations than anything else.
"This is a pretty snazzy festival," He said outloud, "I don't think you've been to something this fancy, have you?"
He looked back to Cheesecake, who's entire body shook the mask. A muffled chirping could be heard as a tiny hand poked out from behind the mask and pointed to the food stands. Riley rolled his eyes.
"Cheese, take that thing off, you look silly." He said as he tried to grab the mask. Cheesecake nimbly dodged him and let out a violent squeak before forcefully pointing towards the food again. Riley signed and nodded. "Alright, alright, let's get you something to eat..."
A guinea pig-like purr could be heard echoing inside the mask as Cheesecake flopped onto Riley's head, the skull mask pointed straight upwards. Riley meandered over to a nearby food stand and pulled his money pouch out- he was prepared to pay for one of Cheesecake's meals...

Roxanne blushed as she sat down, not expecting to be recognized. She should have anticipated this; her white hair certainly stuck out from the crowd. Besides, it made sense that rumors would spread about a young foreign woman staying at the palace...still, it was strange to have people know who she was, especially with such a prestigious title. White Lady of the Castle? That was a bit much, wasn't it? It was sort of nice, feeling like a noble lady, but part of her wished that she was back in Asgeir where everyone looked like her.
"White Lady of the Castle? Savior of the Prince? I don't know about all that...I didn't realize that was what people called me. I'm Roxanne, just a visitor...It's nice to meet you, Dona Salvadorez. I've always liked festivals and fairs, and when I learned about this I just had to come out and see. I've never had my face painted before, either...is it true that the paint lets you talk to spirits?"
She wondered, briefly, how much she would enjoy being able to talk to spirits. She barely spoke any Rondi at all, and most spirits wandering about would probably be from around here...oh well, it would still be fun to be painted like everyone else.

As Skarlet gets up to find out how well she did, she brings her hand up and hides her fangs as she wipes her mouth dry on her gloves. Skarlet is giggling and having fun with the situation. She responded to the woman who gave her praise, "Merci! Madame you're from here, are these charms real? Either way I am happy to have a souveneir! Hon hon!" Skarlet looks over real quick when Arya Shieldheart won the whip game, She recognized this lady, she didn't remember her name though. Maybe she'd come over to say hello while they were both in the same area. If Arya looked her way she'd wave.

The day grows late, the sun a redder gold, the shadows long. Yet still, daylight thrives, at least for the next hour and a half or so...
________________________________________ ________________________________________
A young man loitered under an archway with two of his friends, smoking cheroots and laughing among each other as they traded casual barbs back and forth. One wore a mask, the other two had painted faces, but it was easy to see that the main young man was better-dressed than his other two cohorts. They had had their fill of Rondi Wine already, and as Riley Fletcher and Cheesecake passed them on the street, the floating mask caught their eye. Riley passed them, he and Cheesecake both too intent on the brightly colored sweet breads and sugar candies for sale, so they didn't see the diabolical grins on the faces of the young men. They moved into the streets, their pursuit covered by their casual pace and the way they spread out among the crowd that went back and forth in a tide of color and masks, until the main one leaped out and swooped Cheesecake up by hitting the mask she was holding onto and scooping her to be trapped in the wide-lipped empty Rondi wine bottle he had with him. His mates wound up laughing, coming up on Riley's side and back to try to pin his arms. They clearly weren't trying to kill him -- the street and courtyard was full of people, after all -- but they were obviously out for some malicious fun at the expense of the foreigner! (Riley, none of this is auto'd; if you'd like to dodge or get an uncanny sense or fight or whatever! Please do so. It's easier for me to write the action has having been made rather than peppering my posts with "would" "could" and "should"!)

Dona Salvadorez laughed at Roxanne Fletcher's reaction, leaning forward to start applying the cool white paint to Roxy's cheeks and forehead. The Fletcher was certainly a chatterbox, and took the joke about being Prince Rafael's savior a little too seriously. It was well known that the boy had been about to duel Lady Mireia some months ago, before being stopped by the Fletcher Dame. " In Rondon, we say encantadanza when we mean to say 'Nice to meet you,'" the Dona said as she worked, her voice smooth and melodic as one hand painted and the other had her fingertips butterfly-light on the underside of Roxy's chin to keep it angled just so. " No, the paint will not allow you to speak with them, but it will allow you to see them. Do you see how the sun turns like blood? Soon it will set and you will see the spirits of the dead among us. Perhaps even LaMuerta herself," she continued to say, as if she were telling a story to Roxanne in the same way she must have said to her own children. ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ As for Osseus and Aleister, they were hardly noticed! They had come at a great time to parade as the truly skeletal beings they were. Indeed, they were even complimented by a few Rondi for the authenticity of their costumes! No one paid them any mind, and as long as the two were there to enjoy the festival with no ill will or malice, it was likely no one would bother them.

As the man smacked the mask off of Cheesecake and slammed her into the wine pitcher, the other men would go in to grab Riley's arm from behind. The noise of them laughing and Cheesecake being knocked off his head would cause him to turn around just as the man attempted to pin him. Riley would counter, however, by punching one in the face as he approached. Meanwhile Cheesecake would let out an angry, shrilled buzzing as the pitcher began to move on its own. The sounds of something smashing into its side could be heard over and over as the man struggled to contain the furious fey. Eventually the pitcher shattered with a well-placed punch from inside. Cheesecake dashed up to look the man in the face, puffed cheeks and crossed arms to show her angry face. Riley would step back from the group with his arms in a boxing stance. "Alright, look, we don't want trouble," He said to try and placate the group, "We're just here for the festival. Just leave us alone and no one has to get hurt." His voice was calm but didn't contain any hint of fear. Riley kept his eyes on the group as a whole, darting back and forth on each member to ensure they don't get a sneak attack on him.
