In The Dining Tent, tables of food have been arrayed for guests to serve themselves. Rather than a single communal meal, The Dining Tent will be open all evening, for guests to come and go (or come and stay) as they will. There’s a great variety of food on display, including pottage, assorted meats, sweet tarts, pastries, candied fruit, and cheeses. Alongside these, there is a small bar on loan from The Midnight Sun, serving all manner of liquors and mixed drinks.

Age: 26
Physical Description: Kauri has a complexion so pale that she seems to mimic the glow of the moon. Atop her head stands two long, thin coppery horns that seem unnervingly sharp at their tips.
Her eyes are similar to a cat's with a bright yellow iris and a slit pupil. The fingers on her right hand seem shorter and are fixed with long, sturdy claws most useful for climbing.
---------------------------------------------------------
Clothes and Equipment: -----------------------------------------------------------
Kauri's clothes seem somewhat colorful, sometimes scarce and sometimes superfluous depending on the ever-changing weather of her home. They're always slightly decorative, but sewn and forged with purpose.
She wears small amounts of armor, such as braces, breastplates, and greaves, but they're usually very small and are built more for movement than they are for protection.
She is skilled with a bow and sword, both of which she carries with her consistently. None of her weapons are terribly special, but they're sturdy and well made.

Having not eaten earlier in the day so she could fit into the dress, Kauri found her stomach clawing at her insides like some feral beast. Though she paced herself, she began to develop a slight forward lean the moment she smelled the food. She lead Alden by the hand as they came up to the buffet, and the woman's eyes gleamed.
"This is more food than the time I visited the Moonlight Eclipse!" she exclaimed, shakily grabbing a plate though she was awfully unsure where to start. "What's your favorite, Alden? Goodness, I'm not sure I've seen so many different types of cheese!"
Oh! Why was trying to eat also so stressful? This should have been the easiest part!

Physical Description: Standing at 5'2 feet and sporting amazing snow white hair is the one, the only self-proclaimed Master Adventurer: Keph d'Avon. Many question how he'd get such an odd hair color and he isn't quite sure himself. No doubt some oddity related to all the magic in the world, as it surely isn't dyed. While Keph is no doubt a young lad, he looks young even for his age; maybe it's the lack of a beard or that soft, innocent look of his? His demeanor certainly does him no favors in people giving him less years than he's worth.
While Keph has a mostly innocent look that appears to be constantly surprised an enamored with much of what happens around him, it's clear that he's seen some battle. The back of his right hand has a scar that any keen observer would notice to most likely have been made by the swift slice of a blade, the fact that his skin is mostly soft and untarnished makes it only easier to spot this out of the blue. Surprisingly, as innocent and soft as Keph appears he is actually quite athletic and his small size no doubt betrays these physical abilities!
_________________________________________________________
Clothes and Equipment: A dark brown cloak covers his shoulder, made out of a Platiusm he hunted himself and had an Isran tailor make out of its pelt. The cloak's hood was lined with a variety feathers.
A few spines are still leftover from the prey’s hide, and stick out from his shoulders, the spines, on one side, stab through a glorious shoulder pad made out of an assortment of colourful feathers, stuck onto a thin layer of leather, keeping it all in place. On the other, you have a carved, wooden mask, made by the young man. It has a few more holes than one would expect a mask meant for a human to have, a result of the thin spines having stabbed through it to keep it from ungracefully falling off his shoulder.
Under his cloak, he wears a padded, blue cloth coat, recently extensively repaired, as he refuses to replace this trusty piece of equipment. Not only warm, but fashionable, and provides protection against some cuts. If it's too hot? A white, thin linen shirt is found beneath the coat.
The coat, as nice as it was, was partly hidden under a variety of knick-knacks, bags, and other useful travel equipment:
-A satchel, which hangs from his shoulder and crosses his torso, on the outside of it a few trinkets such as a necklace with a variety of beast teeth and also a bottle of ink, with a quill sticking from its cork;
-The satchel’s belt had been made to function as a bandolier, a set of inky, black… eggs hung from it;
-On top of it all, a finely crafted hunting bow found within a bow holster and a quiver, both crossed in the opposite direction as his satchel, doing its part to conceal his nice clothes beneath his disorganisation.
His legs are kept concealed and warm with a pair of beige linen pants which are kept up by a sturdy leather belt, on them one finds an even larger variety of knick-knacks and tools than his overused satchel - a sword, a dagger, pouches, more trinkets, a small hide pack hanging from the side, and more eggs.
One could only wonder why he needed half of what he kept.

There it was, his whole reason for coming here, free food - oh how delectable it all looked! He was surprised more people weren't crowding around the tables; how much food was in that tent? To him, it might as well be endless!
Keph quickly ran up to the dishes, taking a plate, and then wandering about the tent, looking across all the tables. Oh! That pork looked delicious, he needed to added a bit of the ill-fated animal to his plate! Wait, what was that? It looked like some sort of fruit - on the plate it goes! Were those tarts? He loved tarts - plate! Chicken - onto the plate! Oh god, was that bass? It been forever since he'd had bass - plate.
With enough food to probably feed a small group of people, he left with a ridiculously joyous look on his face, it was about time he fill his stomach.

Physical Description: She has pale blue hair that is rather jagged and cut short (she cuts her own hair with a knife). Her eyes are a golden color that looks much like lightning ripping across the sky. When her powers are active, it looks like lightning is running through her veins. Her ears are pointed and long. She stands at about 6 foot and her nails are normal unless she is feeling beastly when they can grow into talons. Otherwise, she appears as a normal human. Also... horns.
Clothes and Equipment: It looks as though she is constantly wearing a tattered black cloak, but it is actually her wings folded over her body that are pretty durable against attacks. She wears light armor underneath her wings typically and dresses lightly. Though she is not a fan of dresses and skirts or any clothing that restricts her movement, if it necessary or particularly unique, she can be convinced to wear it. She wields a broad sword in case of emergency but prefers to fight hand to hand.

(Addresses: Kauri Graves)
Amaya had been wandering through the passageways of Untyrid hall curiously. She could sense a large density of people in the ballroom but she didn't want to get mixed into it, just yet. In had been some time since she had actually interacted with folks, and she knew her initial appearance was not necessarily the most welcoming.
The scent of delicious food though did call to her like a swan song, reminding her of her rather empty tummy. So with a preliminary peek inside the dining tent to evaluate the density of people- she could only see three luckily- she decided that this would probably be a good place to start. You shouldn't meet people on an empty stomach after all, that wouldn't help her case very much. So in she went a friendly smile on her lips as her heels clicked along as she walked up to the buffet.
Her eyes became increasingly rounded though at the mass of food spread out and she swallowed the saliva that built in her mouth at the sight of all the food. Where did she even begin? She glanced over at two of the other people in the tent only to blink surprised to see a kindred soul there, seeing the horns elegantly curving from her head. So it would appear that she was not the only inhuman creature present. Naturally she wandered over to them, building up a bit of courage as she overheard the woman speak.
"I'm almost certain that anything on this table will probably be amazing. So it's not an easy choice to make here in the slightest. I'm tempted to follow his lead." She spoke up lightly, gesturing to Keph as he scampered off with his haul.

(Keph!)After some time spent with the contingent of ball attendees from Tawakoshi, Wuppo was eventually distracted enough by the scent of food filling his nose to seek out the buffet in the dining tent. The ten-foot-tall ogre simply followed his nose to navigate to the food, and found the source of the lovely smells with very little effort. Upon reaching the table with large platters of food, Wuppo was immediately pleased. The fruity punch in the ballroom tent had been served in giant bowls, plenty large enough for a being of Wuppo's size to imbibe of properly, and now there were Wuppo-sized plates of food for him as well. Wuppo quite nearly reached for the food with his bare hands, but stopped himself. 'You do not eat with your hands' seemed to be the gist of the dinning etiquette training Wuppo had received from Nakatani before leaving Tawakoshi. Etiquette was important for reasons Wuppo was unsure of, but he had agreed to do his best with the new set of dinning rules. With a quick look around, Wuppo found a very familiar implement - a spoon. He'd been practicing with a spoon (chiefly because of his ineptitude with chopsticks), and found it to be strange but a completely adequate way of moving food into his mouth. Wuppo pulled a long serving spoon out of whatever casserole or salad it happened to be sticking out of, and picked up a platter that contained a whole turkey. Spoon in one hand, and turkey in the other, Wuppo looked around once more. No one was eating at the table with all of the food, which seemed strange. It was just then that the ogre saw Keph moving away from the table with a plate of food of his own. 'Etiquette is important' repeated in Wuppo's head, and in the absence of knowledge of what the proper etiquette actually was, Wuppo decided to ask. The ogre approached Keph, and reached out to the small man with the hand that held the serving spoon. Wuppo used his index finger of his giant hand to gently nudge the man on the shoulder. "Wuppo eat dis!" he told the man, trying to formulate his question in his mind only after he'd began speaking. "Lots of nice fings to eat! Tasty fings! But dem not eat da nice tasty here. Where Wuppo eat nice fings? Wuppo eat dis... Big an' tasty. Smell nice!"

Alden Marshal

Age: 30
Physical Description: Alden is 6 even, with shoulder length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid set cheek bones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well muscled body of a swordsmen, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one where to take more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris's there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Alden rarely removes his shirt, but should someone see him with it off, they would find his body to be covered in scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding among the others.
Those of a more magical bent may be able to decipher the runes in his eyes and on his skin. Identifying them as sigils more commonly found on magical items. The most obvious effect of the runes on his body, are increased speed, strength, and durability.
The runes on his eyes give him the ability to detect magical auras and residue, as well as allowing him to see through low level illusions and glamours. They also maintain his vision regardless of the current light level, and even if there is a sudden shift. His eyes are also capable of dropping into the infrared spectrum in complete darkness.
The rune work on his body enhances his natural strength, speed, endurance, durability, and reflexes to almost super human levels. The effects make him a formidable opponent for most magical creatures though only because they are supplemented by exceptional skill.
This means that all though he is almost super human in a straight contest of strength or speed he would most likely loose to most other magically enhanced humanoids such as vampires or were wolves.
Alden's runes also greatly increase his healing rate allowing him to recover from injuries that would normally take a few months for a person to recover from in a few short weeks. Not only do Alden's runes accelerate healing they also enhance it. A normal persons body will repair itself until it is functioning again then stop, thanks to the runes Alden's body will continues to fix itself until it is in near perfect condition. His healing abilities enhance his already prodigious stamina as it repairs muscle damage and lactic build up and it also increases longevity as he does not accumulate long term damage as most people do.
Finally his body runes provide protection from people attempts to find him magically. Detection spells will be obfuscated their readings on his location being off by about 20 meters. Long distance scrying and tracking spells are only able to narrow down his area to somewhere within a mile radius. It should be noted that these protections can be overcome by someone with sufficient power or ingenuity.
His runes cannot be removed unless they are cut off of his body using an appropriate ritual knife and magic. If the runes are disrupted in any other way they will simply grow back in a few weeks time.
The final thing that only someone versed in rune craft and enchanting would be able to tell is this: The process of these runes being carved into his bodies would have been unbelievably painful. A normal person would have been driven insane or to suicide if they had this happen to them. During the carving process un-directed magical energies would begin to take hold and tear apart your soul. The pain this would not cease until the rune pattern was completed. This means the pain caused would be on a spiritual and physical level of incredible magnitude.

Alden could practically feel every muscle in Kauri's body tense up as they approached the buffet table. The woman was turning into a nervous wreck and he wasn't quite sure why. She was in no danger, not from the people looking at them at any rate. Everyone in the room had been disarmed and he couldn't see any signs of concealed weapons at present. Well except for his own, not that he needed a weapon to kill someone. "I like everything." Alden answers truthfully, food was one of his joys in life and without reservation, he simply piles food onto his plate. Literally piles, more food is added to the little ceramic plate than most people could eat in an entire day. Alden's runes burned a lot of calories that he needed to replenish. As he does so another woman with horns speaks to Kauri, indicating someone who had just done a similar thing to Alden. Cocking an eyebrow at the newcomer he gives her a friendly smile. "I think you might have a point."

The buffet certainly had gotten popular since Kauri decided to walk them over. As she was picking around, attempting to scrutinize every bit of food to make sure she was going to get what she wanted, the demonic woman's remark- along with Alden's, Keph's, and Wuppo's enthusiasm- had her giving up with a sigh and a grin.
"Well, fine, I suppose I just look ridiculous now," she lamented jokingly. She began to pile her plate a little less conservatively. She lifted her eyes to the young woman before them.
"I don't think I've seen you here before. I'm Kauri Graves, and this is High Marshal, Alden Marshal. Who might you be?"

"No, you actually look quite lovely."
Alden says in the kind of bland matter of fact tone one would use to correct a person about some inconsequential detail, mostly because it was. To Alden that Kauri was looking lovely tonight was not something he said to flatter it was something he said as he thought it fact.
He finishes loading up his own plate and listens to Amaya's explanation of who she is. It was not dissimilar to his own tale, he'd just been a wanderer once upon a time, pointed towards Isra by friendly Medan guards before it fell and became Goraia. He'd found a home in the city soon after through a string of lucky meetings, perhaps Amaya would be so fortunate.
"Is the ball open invitation?"
Alden inquires wondering if that is how Amaya had gotten in. It had not really been on his radar until he was being poked with needles so it would be good to know if he had to worry about uninvited guests, well unpleasant uninvited guests.

"It is, or at least I believe it to be so. After all, I certainly didn't receive an invitation. But here you see me standing before you. And I promise I didn't mow down the nice fellows at the door." She said chuckling softly as she looked between them. Her smile had only grown when she heard Alden compliment Kauri and she turned from the buffet with her plate balanced easily in her hand. "You two make a lovely couple if you don't mind me saying so, by the by. You remind me a bit of my own parents relationship. How long have you been married?" She asked as she took a bit of fruit to eat, assuming from their interaction, the extent of their relationship.

(Wuppo)
Keph was walking away from the buffet when he felt something nudging him on his shoulder, he turned around to check what it was and almost died of fright. The young man jumped back, his complexion going paler than it already tended to be, a "silent scream" escaping him at the sight of the creature behind him!
He stared at the giant for a while, frozen in his frightened pose and trembling, but after enough time had passed without any of the usual smashings he expected an ogre to go ahead with, he began to calm down. He tore his eyes away from the giant figure, then put a hand to his chest and exhaled, he could feel his heart beating madly as if trying to escape him. Again, he looked upon the ogre - was it perhaps tamed?
Out of nowhere, it began to speak, its voice causing him to again jump in surprise. Its words confused him - was that all it wanted, just a place to eat? Keph wondered what the issue was with eating there, he was just going to step outside the tent and eating on his feet, but not wanting to annoying something that could easily crush him in an instance and not quite sure if it was capable of reading, he hesitantly motioned for it to follow, before walking out of the buffet and towards the dining tent...

Age: 30
Physical Description: Rudiger is tall at 6'3", and muscularly built from his profession. His skin is weathered from his life on the road, with the first wrinkles of age appearing at the sides of his mouth and his eyes, and thick calluses on his right hand from wielding his sword. His light brown hair has been sheered to a fade parted on the right side, and his strong chin that was once covered by thick goatee has been shaved to stubble, but his thick mustache has remained. His most prominent feature is a thick scar and his missing left eye, which he covers with a black eyepatch, which he lost in a fight with a bear.
____________________________________________________________
Clothes and Equipment: Rudiger wears a variety of cloths, depending on the situation. For battle, he wears a blue gambeson underneath steel plate armor, which encases him from head to foot. He wears a bellow faced sallet helm, which he learned to wear from the loss of his eye. He wields a hand and half sword, with a decorative eagle on the pommel. He also carries a kite shield, painted with his coat of arm, a black eagle on a red and orange checkered field.
When he's not in battle, he wears a white wool shirt, and thick woolen black pants. He always wears his tan riding boots.
He owns a dapple grey destrier, and a heavy wooden saddle with a high cantle and pommel covered in thick leather.

Escaping to the dining tent, Rudiger was taken aback by the enormous amount of food laid out for all the guests to eat. He couldn't help but think this entire night was far to extravagant for his tastes. Far too rich dresses and suits, champagne that cost probably more per bottle than the entirety of Voruta, by the Heavenly Horsemen what be behind the next door? An orgy?
Still, he felt his stomach rumble through his waistcoat, reminding him of his current quest for some food. Patiently joining the end of the line, he grabbed a plate and began perusing as he moved down the line, finally alighting on a ribeye steak, cooked medium rare. Absolutely excellently made, cooked with little more than butter, garlic, and thyme. His mouth began salivating rather furiously, and he wavered between resisting the rich meat or caving in...
...He speared it onto his plate with his fork, letting it be joined by a biscuit and mashed potatoes in short order. He could practically feel his waistline expand, especially since he was resigned to little more than symbolic rituals of sword fighting between preparations for Duke. He would enjoy it this night, before insisting on going for a ride with Bob tomorrow so they both could work off the weight.

Kauri leaned the side of her head against Alden's chest to look him in the eyes. Her grin was sultry and more than pleased with his answer. The delivery made her want to giggle, but it was how she expected it to sound. He wasn't like your normal charmer, but he was honest, and that made it much more special.
When Amaya made that comment, the chimera just about dropped her plate. It hopped on top of her palm two or three times before she had it perfectly balanced again. "M-married?! Goodness, no, we've only been courting a week," she spluttered. The heat rose to her face, though it did not turn red. "I mean I have no complai-" She closed her eyes. Spluttering! Oh, what a mess she was making of herself.
"But thank you. That's a very nice compliment," she breathed, eyes down from shame. "So, a traveler, you say? What lands have you seen?"

Alden Marshal
Widely Known
Roleplay posts: 1,420

Apparently, he had said something right as Kauri suddenly leaned in, the side of her head laying against his chest. The look she was giving him was quite pleasant, however, he did have to work to stop her from knocking his plate askew with the sudden movement, not to mention her horn which nearly brushed against the underside of his chin.
"It is good that you didn't, you seem nice I'd hate to have to fight you."
Alden responds with a smile that holds just the slightest glint of menace. He knew the young woman was joking, he'd gotten better at telling that, still it was perhaps a mistake to joke about mowing down Isra guards in front of a man with a title like High Marshal.
"Thank you for the compliment though. It was her mother that ensured we look as good as we do."
What little tension had gathered in his face drains near instantly when he notes how the compliment left Kauri a spluttering mess. It was rather amusing to see his date fidget so, he found it cute and endearing. Motioning towards the tables he nods. "Shall we actually eat?" He inquires before breaking away, this was mostly to ensure that no plates were broken due to other well-meaning but misinformed compliments.

Roleplay posts: 198
Age: 24

Amaya gave a small blush of embarrassment and she covered her mouth. "Oh my, I'm very sorry you two were just so comfortable together... I would have never guess truly." She chuckled softly before she removed her hand.
"If you wouldn't mind me joining you at your table, I would love to eat with you." She said as she went to follow him, her plate still balanced easily on her hand as she considered Kauri's earlier question. "As for what lands have I seen? That is a hard question. Not being bound to the earth certainly helps with traveling." She chuckled softly as she gave her wings a small flex before they settled over her shoulders again. "I believe I have probably flown over the whole of the continents but I haven't visited each world as I've liked. Isra I am familiar with, but I have also travelled the desert of Aridia briefly as well as the far flung island of Dongshu. I have made brief stops here and there but not nearly as much as I would like. But you know. Just recently have I been freed of my fathers clutches to set forth on my own." She chuckled softly though she didn't meet their eyes as she said this.
