The Great Library lays directly under the Obelisk. Housed protectively under several layers of rock and black stone the Library contains the sum of all knowledge of the nation of Belrow. Making it one of the most protected places on the planet. Several floors deep and over a kilometer long and half a kilometer wide the Library holds millions of tomes and books on all manner of subjects, from the histories of the nation, to its magical and engineering knowledge. Patrolling the hallways are dozens of giant black scarab constructs, constantly repairing and dusting the endless shelves and and books they also act as book keepers and sorters, no tome remains outside its designated area for long, the constructs endless fulfilling the menial tasks.
Yet they are not the guardians of the library. Those are reserved for the library stalkers. These ginormous constructs form the shape of meter tall and several meter long centipedes. Their hundreds of legs lightly scurrying along the walls, floor and roof. They are completely quite and are impossibly fast and maneuverable, any attacker would have to some how beat back over two hundred of these devastating creatures.

Ern walks up to the library, whistling a jolly tune. He stops at the gateway, hearing the click click click of the guardians running about underneath. After briefly considering going down, he decides that that may not be the smartest course of action. After considering his options, he takes a deep breath and shouts.
"HELLO!"

The living's call echo's through the steep staircase down into the library. Lit only by the dull green lights that run through out the city, the end of the stairs could not be seen. Ern's call is met with silence. Even the very gentle rustling of the Library Stalkers has stopped. If Ern wanted to meet with his host, he will have to descend alone.

"Hmm..."
Ern stares into the dark tunnel, considering his options. He could wait outside, but who knew how long he would be waiting. However, if he went down, he might be killed by the guardians. After a moment's careful deliberation, he draws a hoe and holds it like an axe to defend himself, then heads down the stairs.
"Anyone home? I'm coming down! I'm from the Land Tiller's tribe, I was invited!"

"Hmm..." Ern stares into the dark tunnel, considering his options. He could wait outside, but who knew how long he would be waiting. However, if he went down, he might be killed by the guardians. After a moment's careful deliberation, he draws a hoe and holds it like an axe to defend himself, then heads down the stairs. "Anyone home? I'm coming down! I'm from the Land Tiller's tribe, I was invited!" Ern walked down the stair case into the darkness below. It decended only over fifty meters underground until a platform was reached, at the end of it lay a grand archway, leafed in polished gold. Beyond that the library proper began. Beyond the doorway on either side stood layers of bookshelves, lined perpendicular to the entrance. Every ten meters a flicking green torch could be seen, attached to a dark stone wall between the shelves repeated into the distance. Yet that was not what immeditaly caught the eye of Ern. What greeted him was a hunched figure facing away from him. Talking in a strange tongue to some sort of giant centipede. Its body twice as tall as the figure it replied by chirping its metallic mandibles, creating a strange pattering sound. Seeing the guest the giant creature arched backwards like the body of a desert viper, and shrieked at Ern. It's hundred small glistening green eyes staring intently at him. The dark figure quickly turned to face Ern, then said a few words quickly in a strange languge. Which seemed to calm the creature down. "I am sorry...about that...I lost...track of time...You are the guest...of the Land Tillers...State. Correct?" Replied the figure, lowering his hood, showing a face that looked like it came from decomposed corpse. "You are here...for a tour correct?"

Ern stares at the strange creature in shock. Having lived in the Land Tiller's state all his life, he'd never seen such a strange creature before. After a moment, he lowers his hoe and looks to the hunched-over figure.
"Ah, yes. I'm from the Land Tiller's state, and I'm here for a tour. Are you the one giving me a tour? I'm Ern of Rambutan."
He holds out his hand to shake.

He holds out his hand to shake. The terrifiying creature behind the librarian began to quickly circle around Ern, keeping its distance but keepings its many eyes fixed on him. The figure raised his hand and accepted the handshake. He turned to head to face the centipede and spoke one word in a strange tongue sharply. The large creature then immediately turned and as fast as lighting scittered into the darkness. "You must...forgive...them. They are not use...to strangers." intoned the undead book keeper. "My name is Yareth. Allow me to show you...our knowledge." He turned around now, and began to walk slowly down the hall for several minutes in the opposite direction of the hall. "This is our...first floor of seven." Stated Yareth while he lead Ern through the rows of bookcases. "This floor containes the ... most basic of our knowlege. Bureaucratic papers, names... of visitors and the like, as far as...we can tell...the oldest tome that we...have on this floor is approximately thirty seven thousand years old. It was from when...our empire first...began. The spiders took excellent care...of them while we...slept. They where passing dozens of rows of shelves, that seemed to stretch into the darkness. Not a single speck of dust could be seen on any of the shelves or books. It was all extremely clean and tidy. At last the opposite wall could be seen through the darkness. It seemed to contain a doorway of some sort, over looking a fenced balcony. Yareth gestured for Ern to enter first once they arrived. "This will give you the best idea of the scope of this place. It's size is quite... deceiving." From the balcony the entire library could be seen. Six layers of floors, dug into the walls of the rock slowly descended into the darkness surrounding a vast open space down onto the lowest floor, making the library look almost like a giant rectangular pit. Hundreds of thousands of shelves could be seen from the balcony on the different floors. All illuminated by dull green light. Several figures could be seen moving about of the various levels. Some in the shape of humans, reading books or moving about shelves. While others where of massive spider like constructs that interacted with the books, re-shelving or cleaning. While out of the corner of Ern's eye, in the darkest shadows of the complex, the elongated, many legged constructs clung. Scanning the library ceaselessly. "Each floor is reserved ... for a certain subject, with an average size ... of one kilometer by five hundred meters ...each floor is a maze... to the uninitiated. Best to stay with ...me for the entire tour, we don't ...want you to get lost down here.

Ern glances around, staring at all the non-dusty books. There really were quite a few of them. He couldn't help but wonder how many trees had been cut down to make all the books. Oh well, he figured. It wall all in the name of knowledge, after all. He followed his tour guide carefully, not wanting to get lost.
"That certainly sounds like a very large library, Yareth. Have you got any books about farming, by any chance? The Land Tillers are always looking for new farming techniques. Also, how long has it taken to amass this collection? Do you take in new books?"

Malagus, Chief Librarain of Belrow put down the quill. It was done. The first book to be created in over a millennia. It was not large. The story tale contained within it was not huge. Malagus looked at its title. Created in gold leaf it stood out quite well from the dark wood used for the spine.
The Fall of the Kingdom of Aadean In ways the tale mirrored their own fall. Greed and power had over powered them and had lead them down a fate worse then death. There cities destroyed all but forgotten accept for one tall monument. Yet now that its tale had been put to paper they will never be forgotten. They shall live forever more in this great Library.
Moving along the columns and rows of full book cases Malagus arrived at where the tome would be stored. A new shelf on the lowest floor. Here is where the new tales shall be placed. In the era of redemption section. The first book, the first story of Belrows redemption in the eyes of the living, and in themselves. Placing it carefully into the top most shelf Malagus hoped that it would be the first of many more to come.
