Here is a list of laws and policies that Lord Nishida has enacted.

*No man or woman may have their likeness reflected in a statue unless Lord Nishida deems you worthy. Being immortalized in stone is a right reserved for recognized Heroes of the realm. The Lord must be petitioned for memorials and the like to be erected. Any stonework dedicated to an unworthy individual will be destroyed and the one who commisioned it will be imprisoned, trial will be held within a month (allowing for a magistrate to travel there to hold court).

*This nation is made primarily of Refugees, everyone has lost their home, if you perform a hate crime on someone because of their race/culture/creed your home in this country shall be forfeit, if found guilty you will be forced to leave and find a new home elsewhere (Family may choose to stay). No culture in Aozora is superior over another.

*The family is not to be punished for the crimes of the individual.

*Marriage is reserved for sentient beings of any racial or gender combination (Interracial and gay marriage is legal). You may not wed or have intimate relations with an individual younger than 15(Human years). Marriage and intimate relations with livestock and pets is illegal. If you commit such perversions toward children or animals you will be publicly denounced as a deviant, you will be removed from the victim, and you will be given a permanent scar from your upper part of your left cheek to the jaw so that you may be identified as a pervert. Those marked for their perversions may be denied services.

*Prostitution is recognized as a legitimate profession, brothels are regulated and inspected for health and safety.

*Culture and religious practice are protected so long as your practices do not break any laws. Sacrifice is considered illegal.

*Public display of drunkeness gets you a night in jail for your safety and others' if a guard believes it is neccesairy. Leniency is given outside of bars and taverns, for people are likely to be drinking at those establishments, those running the establishment should take care about how many drinks someone is given and be prepared to deal with roughhousing and make sure everyone's safety is accounted for.

*To tread upon crops by chariot, carriage, mount or foot as a soldier or officer enlisted by Aozora is punishable by court martial. This is a policy to protect the property of farmers who provide food for everyone.

*In the event of drought/famine, emergency rations of grain will be distributed from the Lord's personal stockpile, soldiers will be deployed to give aid in making new wells/irrigation trenches.

*Once territory is subjugated through conquest it is Ao land and the people living there should be treated as citizens of Aozora. Raping and Pillaging by soldiers and officers is not permitted and violators will be charged with treason for attacking Ao Citizens and property, punished by execution.

*Do not destroy foreign places worship or objects that are considered sacred.

*Defiling the sacred bond of marriage by Adultery and promiscuous activity is punishable by the following. (editing) Offenders will be sequestered and their familial ties are disintegrated (Children will be removed from care, your name will be changed and your family will not be told what it has been changed to).

*Children removed from their parents by law will be put in the care of the eldest relative who may decide what to do with the child (If they will adopt it, or if they will give it to someone else they feel is worthy to take care of the child).

*Many punishments under Military Law will include beating with a large stick with increased severity depending on the crime and mood of whom has given the punishment. The beating can be remitted by paying a fine that increases with amount of strokes you would have been given. You will be stricken only on the back, buttocks, or the legs, minor beatings (10-50 strokes) will only be on the buttocks. If the large stick breaks during the beating you are spared further beating. Maximum beating is 100 strokes and price of fine or remittance goes up with each 10 stroke increment.

    -Certain crimes may warrant punishment by exile to a remote location, returning to place of birth is forbidden (Only applies if you are born in Aozora, if you are an immigrant you can of course go back to your homeland).
Severity:
                  *620 miles plus 100 strokes with a large stick (remitted by paying fine)
              *775 miles plus 100 strokes with a large stick (remitted by paying slightly larger fine)
                  *930 miles plus 100 strokes with a large stick (remitted by paying slightly larger fine)

    -With compulsory penal servitude, being beat by a stick is included, which can be forgiven by paying a fine which increases with severity.
                  Severity:
                  *6 months: 60 strokes with large stick
                  *12 months: 70 strokes with large stick
                 *18 months: 80 strokes with large stick
                  *24 months: 90 strokes with large stick
                  *30 months: 100 strokes with large stick
              *36 months: 100 strokes with large stick

*Only those who serve in the Ao military can be subject to punishment by Military Law.

*When a beating is being administered, the stick cannot be replaced mid-beating, once a stick is picked it must be used until the beating is complete or it breaks.
-When a beating is completed, the stick used must be broken so that it isn't used consecutively.
