Elizabeth Finch
Main Character
Roleplay posts: 512
Age: 29
Physical Description: Elizabeth, or Liz, stands at about 5'9", weighing in at about 160lbs, most of it muscle from years of riding and fighting. She has platinum blonde hair, usually tied in a ponytail to fit inside her helmet. Her eyes are a vibrant shade of green that contrasts well with her tanned skin. She would be considered attractive if she ever removed her armor, otherwise her face is the only indication that underneath the iron discipline and plate armor is an attractive woman.
Clothes and Equipment: Liz wears a normal looking set of plate armor that is custom fitted for her specifically, and does not hide her gender. She wields a lance when mounted. Javelins are carried in her mounts saddle. Her mount is a young Griffin by the name of St. George, he is full grown in height, but does not yet have the full mass of a adult griffin. She wears plain clothes when not in armor and her shield bears the symbol of the Dawn Riders on it, and her breastplate bears the symbol of Isra on it. She wears a small necklace with a purple gemstone on it underneath her breastplate, only visible when she she is unarmored. Her sword has the insignia of the midnight sun engraved in the hilt, as it is relatively out of sight and does not violate the military dress code. Her primary weapon is her sword, an ancient Elven artifact passed down by her bloodline. It is wreathed in green lightning when unsheathed and wielded by her, and she has a sunmetal shield that complements it with magical abilities of its own.

"Yes indeed. There are three primary things that differentiate a species when we get them and how difficult they will be to handle. The first is intelligence, by far the most difficult to deal with. After that is size and...'unnatural abilities' so to speak." She said, adding air quotes around the one phrase.
"As for difficulty in obtaining...financially no, the Empire has been very generous with my retirement, and the Ranch us finally self-sustaining financially. I have yet to figure out how to do anything with water-based creatures, nor have I begun to look beyond the Empire's borders. If you have any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them."

She looked between them before she covered her mouth to hide her chuckle. Oh if only they knew. “I must say, I do rather like Isra. It is like a home away from home. There is a good… variety of beings from the place I hail from. So Isra is rather homey but nothing is quite like home. Which is what I search for really.”
She took that opportunity to tuck into the food on her plate, not wanting to spill too much. She tilted her head at Alden though as she considered what he said. “Also…. You look rather human to me. I sense power from you, but if you aren’t human what are you?”

Her eyes are similar to a cat's with a bright yellow iris and a slit pupil. The fingers on her right hand seem shorter and are fixed with long, sturdy claws most useful for climbing.

Kauri's clothes seem somewhat colorful, sometimes scarce and sometimes superfluous depending on the ever-changing weather of her home. They're always slightly decorative, but sewn and forged with purpose.
She wears small amounts of armor, such as braces, breastplates, and greaves, but they're usually very small and are built more for movement than they are for protection.
She is skilled with a bow and sword, both of which she carries with her consistently. None of her weapons are terribly special, but they're sturdy and well made.

"Much more human than he would think to admit," Kauri informed the half demon. "Enhanced, but ultimately... exactly as he looks."
And she liked it that way.
"What about you? That is if you don't mind me asking. We're all people here, even if we are all different. These differences are quite interesting, though, aren't they? I wonder what it's like to fly with those wings!"

Amaya smiled warmly and her wings gave a slight flutter at the mention of them, before settling again comfortably around her. "It is absolutely amazing, I must say." She admitted with a slight chuckle as she turned to face Kauri again. "The sky has always been preferable to the ground in my opinion. Limitless and less restricting than the world below. My wings though are mostly just to help me glide and catch the winds I summon to keep me aloft." She explained briefly- they probably didn't care or really want to know the complex mechanisms of how she controlled the winds to take flight.
"As for what I am, I am one part human, one part demon. Specifically, one part storm demon which explains how I'm able to control the winds that allow me to fly... I hope that is not upsetting to either of you." She looked between them carefully. Her heritage could be a touchy subject at times.

Alden Marshal
Widely Known
Roleplay posts: 1,420
Age: 30
Physical Description: Alden is 6 even, with shoulder length messy black hair, and several days worth of beard stubble. He is handsome, with a powerful jaw, mid set cheek bones, and a perpetual grin that makes him seem younger than he really is. His bright green eyes, constantly sparkle with barely contained mirth. He has the lithe well muscled body of a swordsmen, and he moves with considerable grace and dexterity.
If one where to take more thorough examination of Alden's eyes they may notice a further detail. Around the outside edge of his iris's there's an intricate series of minuscule grey runes.
Alden rarely removes his shirt, but should someone see him with it off, they would find his body to be covered in scar tissue. Starting from just below his neckline, there is very little space that does not sport some relic of a past injury. A particularly observant person may also note that among these scars, some are a bright scarlet. These scarlet scars form an intricate series of runes hiding among the others.
Those of a more magical bent may be able to decipher the runes in his eyes and on his skin. Identifying them as sigils more commonly found on magical items. The most obvious effect of the runes on his body, are increased speed, strength, and durability.
The runes on his eyes give him the ability to detect magical auras and residue, as well as allowing him to see through low level illusions and glamours. They also maintain his vision regardless of the current light level, and even if there is a sudden shift. His eyes are also capable of dropping into the infrared spectrum in complete darkness.
The rune work on his body enhances his natural strength, speed, endurance, durability, and reflexes to almost super human levels. The effects make him a formidable opponent for most magical creatures though only because they are supplemented by exceptional skill.
This means that all though he is almost super human in a straight contest of strength or speed he would most likely loose to most other magically enhanced humanoids such as vampires or were wolves.
Alden's runes also greatly increase his healing rate allowing him to recover from injuries that would normally take a few months for a person to recover from in a few short weeks. Not only do Alden's runes accelerate healing they also enhance it. A normal persons body will repair itself until it is functioning again then stop, thanks to the runes Alden's body will continues to fix itself until it is in near perfect condition. His healing abilities enhance his already prodigious stamina as it repairs muscle damage and lactic build up and it also increases longevity as he does not accumulate long term damage as most people do.
Finally his body runes provide protection from people attempts to find him magically. Detection spells will be obfuscated their readings on his location being off by about 20 meters. Long distance scrying and tracking spells are only able to narrow down his area to somewhere within a mile radius. It should be noted that these protections can be overcome by someone with sufficient power or ingenuity.
His runes cannot be removed unless they are cut off of his body using an appropriate ritual knife and magic. If the runes are disrupted in any other way they will simply grow back in a few weeks time.
The final thing that only someone versed in rune craft and enchanting would be able to tell is this: The process of these runes being carved into his bodies would have been unbelievably painful. A normal person would have been driven insane or to suicide if they had this happen to them. During the carving process un-directed magical energies would begin to take hold and tear apart your soul. The pain this would not cease until the rune pattern was completed. This means the pain caused would be on a spiritual and physical level of incredible magnitude.

Apparently, he didn't get to answer questions directed at him. That actually made him smile since he'd observed many couples where one member answered for the other. It was a pleasant feeling to have someone feel they knew him well enough to speak for him. Especially since Kauri's answer had been very close to what he would have said.
"Not particularly, some of my best friends have been demons." Alden says when Amaya admits to some demonic heritage. Of course, he'd also killed many demons but no reason to mention that.

Keph

Roleplay posts: 227
Age: 18
Physical Description: Standing at 5'2 feet and sporting amazing snow white hair is the one, the only self-proclaimed Master Adventurer: Keph d'Avon. Many question how he'd get such an odd hair color and he isn't quite sure himself. No doubt some oddity related to all the magic in the world, as it surely isn't dyed. While Keph is no doubt a young lad, he looks young even for his age; maybe it's the lack of a beard or that soft, innocent look of his? His demeanor certainly does him no favors in people giving him less years than he's worth.
While Keph has a mostly innocent look that appears to be constantly surprised an enamored with much of what happens around him, it's clear that he's seen some battle. The back of his right hand has a scar that any keen observer would notice to most likely have been made by the swift slice of a blade, the fact that his skin is mostly soft and untarnished makes it only easier to spot this out of the blue. Surprisingly, as innocent and soft as Keph appears he is actually quite athletic and his small size no doubt betrays these physical abilities!
_________________________________________________________
Clothes and Equipment: A dark brown cloak covers his shoulder, made out of a Platiusm he hunted himself and had an Isran tailor make out of its pelt. The cloak's hood was lined with a variety feathers.
A few spines are still leftover from the prey’s hide, and stick out from his shoulders, the spines, on one side, stab through a glorious shoulder pad made out of an assortment of colourful feathers, stuck onto a thin layer of leather, keeping it all in place. On the other, you have a carved, wooden mask, made by the young man. It has a few more holes than one would expect a mask meant for a human to have, a result of the thin spines having stabbed through it to keep it from ungracefully falling off his shoulder.
Under his cloak, he wears a padded, blue cloth coat, recently extensively repaired, as he refuses to replace this trusty piece of equipment. Not only warm, but fashionable, and provides protection against some cuts. If it's too hot? A white, thin linen shirt is found beneath the coat.
The coat, as nice as it was, was partly hidden under a variety of knick-knacks, bags, and other useful travel equipment:
-A satchel, which hangs from his shoulder and crosses his torso, on the outside of it a few trinkets such as a necklace with a variety of beast teeth and also a bottle of ink, with a quill sticking from its cork;
-The satchel’s belt had been made to function as a bandolier, a set of inky, black… eggs hung from it;
-On top of it all, a finely crafted hunting bow found within a bow holster and a quiver, both crossed in the opposite direction as his satchel, doing its part to conceal his nice clothes beneath his disorganisation.
His legs are kept concealed and warm with a pair of beige linen pants which are kept up by a sturdy leather belt, on them one finds an even larger variety of knick-knacks and tools than his overused satchel - a sword, a dagger, pouches, more trinkets, a small hide pack hanging from the side, and more eggs.
One could only wonder why he needed half of what he kept.

Keph cautiously lead Wuppo towards the dining tent, his eyes constantly looking back over his shoulder, paranoid of the idea that the giant could, at any point, just go into an enraged state and wreak havoc - who's genius idea was it to even allow this thing in here?
He lead the huge creature towards one of the many tables, where the giant quickly sat down. Keph brought his hands up to his face, he looked horrified as to what the giant just did; was it trying to get him in trouble?! The chair clearly was not made for something of its size, and if it were to break, there was a good chance some posh noble might call upon the guards, he could get evicted and lose all right to the free meal! The chair clearly strained from the weight, creaked at every slight movement the giant made, each of those creaks sending a shiver down Keph's spine and making his heart skip a beat.
The young man was relieved at seeing "Wuppo" remove the chair from underneath its tush and place it a safe distance away; the chair was damaged but he hoped no one would bother themselves over it. He let out a lengthy sigh, dropping onto his own chair and dropping his plate onto the table; his legs felt like a pair of wet noodles after that scare. While he wasn't very keen on the idea of eating at this table, he supposed it was best to stay, just in case that might spike the creature's ire and on top of it all, he didn't want to risk getting into some other hassle before he managed to even get a bite out of his food - he did have knack for getting himself into trouble.
With his eyes still on "Wuppo", Keph took the slab of fried Northern Cod on his dish - one of the many items he had decided to cover his plate in - and brought it up to his mouth, taking a large bite out of its side and then started to chew; unlike the giant, Keph bothered not with eating utensils, digging his hands into the fish's tasty flesh. It had been a while since he had any seafood, it wasn't the most common thing when you were far from the coast, and he hadn't had any of the Northern, cold-water seafood since he left home, the taste definitely brought back some memories.
He was snapped out of thought by "Wuppo" speaking to him in a barely coherent manner, yet he got the gist of it. All the giant got from Keph was a perked brow and a confused look; why was it telling him all this? Where did it learn to speak? Could it even read?

Physical Description: "The citizens of Tamatoshi Bay would lay eyes on Wuppo, a 10-foot tall ogre, dirty with grime and what was probably dried blood. Wuppo chomped another bite off of his 'turkey on a spoon' snack, having to turn it slightly to get another decent mouthful without biting the spoon. He crunched the bird in his mouth, the ogre's large flat teeth grinding the bone and meat of the fowl. After a moment of chewing, Wuppo swallowed the lump of bird carcass. Wuppo looked at Keph. He looked very concerned, which as far as Wuppo could tell was normal for some humans, but - he wasn't talking. This was not how 'polite conversation' was supposed to work. How would there be a conversation when one party wasn't talking? Maybe Wuppo was doing it wrong? Perhaps, Wuppo thought, the man couldn't hear him, and that was the problem.
"I'Z - WUPPO," the ogre raised his voice, speaking slowly and nearly shouting now as he pointed to himself. "WUPPO FROM - BIG WHATTA!" Wuppo put down his turkey and used both hands to simulate what with some imagination might be waves moving across the ocean. "WUPPO USE BOAT!" He looked around, and quickly grabbed an empty bowl from one of the vacant place settings. "DIS - BOAT!" he said, then moved it up and down as if floating on the imaginary waves. "WUPPO FROM TA-KA-KOW-SHI! TAKA-KOW-SHI! BIG WHATTA!"
Wuppo put the bowl down and looked at Keph, his pantomime show seemingly complete for the moment. The ogre looked for signs that the man he was sharing the table with understood what he was saying.

The woman nearly laughed!
"Upset? Goodness, hardly!" exclaimed Kauri with a toothy grin. "It would be hard for you to upset me. I mean, just look at me." She took hold of her gloves and extended her arms to the demoness, showing her the half-human, half-cat fingers ending with claws on one arm, and the one hundred percent human fingers on the other. Not only that, but the unnatural paleness of her skin was another issue altogether.
"Also, watch this-" Kauri added, placing her hand atop Alden's vest. Almost instantly, the chocolate color began to seep into her skin and wrap itself around her fingers. She raised it to show the demoness. "See? We're all a little unorthodox. Speak freely. No one judges you here."

Waldemar continued laughing at the words of Grandma, the alcohol and deviation of terminology meaning the man barely remembered what the original topic was. Remembering, he righted himself and eventually stifled the laugh, though stayed in good humour. "I'm glad to have spoken with you on the matter, Grandma. As one gets older they become slightly less sure on things metaphysical, you've reassured me somewhat."
With that he turned to the more light hearted topic about Elizabeth's ranch, which as a man with military history interested him quite a lot. "You could buy some property near port-Silverion or hire some water-mages to work with aquatic beasties, no? Of course, bloody lot of cash that is but I reckon if you have good results with ordinary creatures you would be able to find some investors to do such." The man paused momentarily, staring into the sky with his eyes darting left and right. "When I visit your ranch we shall see. It is uncertain of course but I might consider such an investment. Audria's navy is non-existent, a laughing stock. A project to supplement it with say... serpents of some sort would certainly be welcome."

Beast or not, there's no way he could stop Keph from enjoying his delectable meal... or so he thought. As Keph was happily chewing on the slab of Cod, spitting out any of its bones, Wuppo suddenly began to yell, this startled him, one of the Cod's spines getting swallowed and stuck in his throat. The young man began slamming his hand into the table, coughing in an attempt to get the stabbing bone out of his throat. The spine, soon enough, was coughed out onto the plate, Keph still catching his breath, only half-listening to the yelling giant.
He slid his arm along his mouth, wiping any spit off of his lips with his sleeve, before looking at the giant with an annoyed glare, slamming his hands into the dining table, and raising himself from the chair. To Hel with it, whether the Giant could read-or-not, he might as well try to get through the beast's thick skull before he ends up dead from some dining-related incident.
Keph aggressively pulled his notebook out of his satchel, angrily flipping through the pages until you found one that was blank. He pulled the quill from its little sleeve on the satchel's side, and dipped it through a small hole in the cork of the ink bottle, which was firmly tied to the side of that same satchel; after some quick, fluid motions, a message had been left on the journal, which he held up to the Giant's face.
"Calm down. Keph is trying to eat and he doesn't want to be yelled at incoherently while he tries to fill his belly."

Amaya blinked in surprise at the woman but only for a second as a warm smile a lit on her face and there was the slight relaxing of her shoulders as she nodded to the woman. Despite the screaming of the ogre across the room at the young boy, it was clear she was beginning to feel much more at ease. "Thank you. Truly. That is good to hear." She said sincerely her golden eyes shining with warmth.
"I honestly... Had a bit of trepidation coming here. I wasn't sure if I would be welcomed for my heritage. Your words reassure me though. Perhaps my desire of finding a friend is not too far off." She said with a slight chuckle before she took a quick bite of her food, still starving from her flight over.

“I think you’re far more qualified on the subject of raising creatures than me. Still, if I ever get an idea on how you could raise sea creatures on a ranch, I’ll be sure to get back to you.”
Realizing it was getting a bit late and that she still had others she needed to speak to, Grandma rose from her chair. She was feeling a bit stiff after sitting in that chair for so long.
“I have a few other guests I must attend to, so sadly I must end my conversation with you two here. It was a pleasure to meet you, Lord Waldemar, thank you for that engaging discussion on religion. It was also good to see you again, Elizabeth. Hopefully I’ll see you around the Citadel more often even if you are officially retired.”
Offering a nod of farewell to the pair of them, Grandma exited the dining tent, heading off in the direction of the Hedge Maze.

When the shouting began Alden's eyes snap to the commotion, narrowing slightly as he considers the situation. It only takes him a moment to deduce that the yelling was not the prelude to a fight, at least not yet, but he decides to keep his eye on the ogre. While what he and Kauri had told Amaya was true, Isra was welcoming to all kinds, that did not mean they were going to let an ogre go on a rampage at a party. Perhaps he should leave it to the guards to deal with should it escalate but he was fairly certain he could end it quicker... Even if he had to leave what was apparently a delegate from Tawakoshi alive.
Once again his attention is drawn back to his own table when Kauri touches him again, her ungloved hand touching him to show off her camouflage ability. "We are all indeed, different." He says opting to roll up his sleeve in a show of solidarity, revealing the expanse of scar tissue that ran up and down his arm. "And I think you've already made a friend in Kauri." He gives the young demoness a warm smile as he rolls his sleeve back down hiding the white, silver, and red flesh.

Age: 24
Physical Description: She has pale blue hair that is rather jagged and cut short (she cuts her own hair with a knife). Her eyes are a golden color that looks much like lightning ripping across the sky. When her powers are active, it looks like lightning is running through her veins. Her ears are pointed and long. She stands at about 6 foot and her nails are normal unless she is feeling beastly when they can grow into talons. Otherwise, she appears as a normal human. Also... horns.
Clothes and Equipment: It looks as though she is constantly wearing a tattered black cloak, but it is actually her wings folded over her body that are pretty durable against attacks. She wears light armor underneath her wings typically and dresses lightly. Though she is not a fan of dresses and skirts or any clothing that restricts her movement, if it necessary or particularly unique, she can be convinced to wear it. She wields a broad sword in case of emergency but prefers to fight hand to hand.

At Alden's words Amaya sat up a bit straighter, blinking rapidly in surprise as she looked from Alden, to Kauri, back to Alden, before finally resting on Kauri. Her eyes were earnest and excitement was practically dripping from her aura- her golden eyes shining like the sun on a gorgeous summer day at noon. " Really? Have I? Because that would just be lovely- But I wouldn't want to pressure or assume anything..." She trailed off slightly, a small fang peeking out as she nibbled on her bottom lip. She was equal part hopeful and nervous as to what the chimera- that's what beings such as Kauri were called right?-might say in response.

Age: Near seventy.
Physical Description:
A hulking mass of black fur peppered with grey towers over the average human. Two dark green eyes stare intently at anything before this massive figure, his near hound like maw : upturned as if amused. Two horns erupt from behind his hog like ears.
The beast' arms are like tree trunks , human like hands like those of a dock worker drum thoughtfully on his tower shield.
His voice rumbles like the earth about to split " And what shall we do with you?" he muses, his grin growing larger by the moment

Sighing heavily after his enconter with the Empress, The Beast men made his way to a very instinctual place, the place that had been calling to him since the moment of his arrival- whispering sweet nothings to him during each and every one of his conversations--- nibbling at his self-control with each passing moment threatening to bring the most animalistic nature out from him---
The Dining tent.
He'd not eaten anything today aside from a small breakfast while making his way to the capital, and the meager bit of wine in his stomach was feeling rather lonely.
Galh'dor waiting in line with the other patrons, crafting a fine display of each and every morsel he could. It wasn't the massive platter he'd seen others carry of, but rather a polite sampling of each and everything to ensure that the person behind him could enjoy something as well.
The Beast looked about for a place to stand out of the way.

"I wish the water was the sole source of the issue, the simple issue is finding and catching the damn things." She said, chuckling.
"Sure, some of our griffins are trained for water, learning how to fish and what not, but I would rather not risk a griffin trying to wrestle with a water creature the same size."
She nodded at Grandma's departure then stood as well.
"I think I shall go mingle elsewhere as well, it was a pleasure to meet you Lord Waldemar."

She is skilled with a bow and sword, both of which she carries with her consistently. None of her weapons are terribly special, but they're sturdy and well made.

Though Kauri had not explicitly extended a friendship, it was also not something she intended to hold away from the young demoness before them. Surprised at first, the chimera smiled at Amaya, warmly and gently.
"Well, I certainly don't see why not!" she proclaimed confidently. "I also haven't made many friends since coming back to Isra. All except for Alden, here, and the children... and my family... most of the faces here are strangers, no matter where I go. Now, well, there's nothing wrong with that, but there's also nothing wrong having more and being merrier."

Alden probably shouldn't have assumed that Kauri would be friends with the young demoness. However, so far as he knew they were friends already. His idea of friendship was someone to whom you talked about your problems and enjoyed spending time with. That seemed to be what was happening at this moment between the two women so that was what he assumed was happening. Then again, he had a total of... three or four friends and the one he spent the most time with was an Empress, so it was understandable how things could get a bit skewed.

The nervousness faded away from Amaya's face as a bright smile lit up on her face and before she could really think twice about what she was doing, she stood up and pulled Kauri up into a warm hug underestimating her strength as she held the smaller woman off the ground a few inches. "Thank you! You really don't know how much that means to me." She said her voice full of emotion before she seemed to realize what she was doing. She gave a bit of a start and she carefully-but quickly-set the chimera back down on her seat. She fretted a bit, straightening out her dress blushing as she did, giving Kauri a sheepish smile.
"Sorry! Sorry. Got a bit excited there. Are you alright? Did I hurt you?"

Surprised at first, Kauri let out a small squeak as she was embraced. Though not a hulking soldier, Kauri was no frail maiden-
And we can be absolutely sure on that fact, mind you.
-so when she was hugged, there was no pain involved, just no expectation. Halfway through it, she did manage a half-pat on the demoness' back. When she was back in her seat, she managed a smile. "I certainly had no idea I could warrant such a reaction," she chuckled. "But no harm was done. I'm glad I could make someone so enthusiastic about a friendship with someone like myself!"
