Mage Commandant Lafayétte, gives them both a long hard glare and says with deadly calm.
"And tell me Madam Lancaster and Monsieur Chance, are you criminals or simply stupid? Because those are the only two types who try to sneak into a country. Those up to no good, or those who are stupid enough to think being able to fly exempts them from the law."
The sever looking woman sits down and folds her hands on the desk.

Godwin's face morphs into an expression of absolute innocence as he puts on a production worthy of the Medanese Grand Theater.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Ma'am. I had no idea we would have to stop at the gates. I've heard from many of my friends and family that there was no such necessity. It seems old Gerald has misinformed me. Not his fault, of course. Times were different back in his day. Or perhaps he's simply senile. Regardless, I would be happy to fill out any paperwork and pay any fees that you would require. Again, terribly sorry for the inconvenience."
He smiles, showing off a mouthful of perfectly straight, shiny white teeth.

Lafayétte does not seem to be impressed by Godwins smile, she says coldly.
"Must be pretty damn senile, if Gauldin ever had boarders that open it hasn't been for centuries."
The mage leans back and say's coldly.
"Unfortunately for you, you picked a bad time to visit, made worse by your decision to try and skirt the boarder checkpoint. We will be searching your belongings for contraband, you will have to fill out the necessary paperwork, and I am debating whether to have a set of tracking braclets slapped on you. That may seem excessive to you, but the last person to skirt the boarder checkpoint lead an attack on the queen."
She produces the standard paperwork form and slids it, and some writing tools over to the two.

"Eheheh...old Gerald is pretty old." Reaching into his pocket, Godwin pulls out a large iron key. "There you go, that's the key to my trunk. Search away, but please fold the clothing after you're done." They wouldn't find anything particularly interesting in Godwin's trunk, besides a flamboyant hat with fruit in it. It's almost definitely a lady's hat. [Like this but with fruit] Eva's stuff would be in a different trunk, and she could choose whether or not to allow it to be searched. Picking up the paperwork, Godwin begins to sign. My, the standard paperwork is very long indeed.

Eva sits quietly as Godwin speaks, feeling like she would mess things up if she tried to say anything. Godwin was a really good gambler and he knew how to hold a poker face. Eva on the other hand was just a waitress, so her only talent was looking good.
When Lafayétte asked to search there things Eva did not protest and handed over the key to her trunk as well. All they would find in there were mundane things that any regular person would bring on a vacation.

Once their belonging are searched, and the paperwork filled out Layfétte finally hands over their travel papers. She says her voice finally gaining some civility.
"Keep these with you at all times, do not attempt to tamper with the documents..."
She explains the same rules for travel papers all of the magically inclined receive. Given their means of transportation, and their attempt to fly over the boarder, the two are being flagged as worth keeping an eye on. She finishes by stating.
"All of our cities are currently under martial law. You can still travel to Bayonné and Travére, but Niréal won't open its gates until the issue in Travére is resolved. If there is nothing else we can assist you with you can go."
The women still cannot muster a smile but at least she isn't glaring anymore.

"Alright, thank you!"
Godwin heads out the door, and climbs back onto the Gibbering Devourer.
"Come on, Eva. Let's go to Travere. Or would you rather head to Bayonne?"
He briefly checks to make sure all his stuff is still in his trunk, giving a brief sigh of relief when he sees his hat still intact.

"Diddlydeedoobap!" Demigrem continued on with his shoobopin for awhile after singing.
Demigrem then transferred to whistling. He'd begin to whistle different tones. Nobody was going to greet him he figured. He'd just keep wandering on as if nothing was going on.

Lenny would approach the guard post, riding up on his donkey, several saddlebags also on the beast. It looked a bit tired and slightly strained under Lenny’s weight as well as the weight of his bags. He appeared to be in high spirits, whistling to himself rather happily and singing in a rather out of pitch voice, while taking swigs from a flask in between songs.
“Ayyy there guards! I hear this is where I stop to get papers to go into Gauldin, right? This country out here sure is beautiful! Isn’t the fresh air just so tasty this time of year!?”
He offered them a rather bizarre smile as he said this and despite his strange attitude, he appeared sober.

The guards cast a critical eye on Lenny.
"Yes, the fresh air is...tasty. Get off your animal, please. We have to search the bags."
Assuming Lenny complies, the guard shuffles through the saddlebags in search of any sort of contraband. Meanwhile, a second guard walks up to the strange-looking man.
"So...what's your name? And what business do you have in Gauldin? Do you have any sort of magic?"

“Isn’t Loppy the most excellent donkey? He’s carried me and my bags here all this way, kept me company, and hasn’t complained one bit!”
Lenny seems oblivious to the guards critical eye on him and dismounts from Loppy quite happily, almost skipping around in a circle as he looks around. The guards would find nothing particularly notable in the saddlebags.
“My name is Lenny Labree. How do you two do today? As for why I’m here, why, to join the magic academy of course! I hear they teach all kinds of useful things there, I can’t wait to get started learning. As for magic, yes, I suppose I do. After all, if I had none at all, I wouldn’t even bother attending the academy!”
Lenny continued looking around his surroundings, still impressed by the countryside of Gauldin from the looks of it.

"Wait here, sir."
The guards have Lenny wait by the donkey, then retreat a short distance to huddle up and confer.
"He's clearly mad."
"Yes, but he's got nothing on him that we can bar him for."
"We can't let him in. He'll blow things up. Look at that grin."
"I say we just give him the papers and send him on his way."
"What if he causes trouble? We'll be the ones who let a madman in the country."
"Nobody has seen him yet. We can blame the guys in Bayonne. They'll let anyone in."
"Fine. But this is on you if it goes south."
The guards walk back to Lenny.
"Alrighty then, sir. You're free to go. Here are your travel papers and mage documents."
They hand him two very official-looking pieces of paper.
"Don't lose them. Have a nice day, and welcome to Gauldin."

Seraphine showed up at the checkpoint on the back of a horse, her body covered by a poorly made black cloak. Her strawberry-blond hair falling flowing out from beneath it and curious dark eyes staring in front of her. She was not to used with interacting with people as she had been spending most of her time alone as her random transformations scared the people in her original town.
When she got stopped at the checkpoint she took out a letter from underneath her cloak. It had the seal of the academy on it and was an invitation to their school grounds. She was hoping it would grand her access to the country.

When the scroll with the academy seal is produced, the guard asks Seraphine to wait. He departs, and returns a few minutes later with an older women in military mages robes. The woman review the document, and produces a set of standard mage travel papers.
"Heading to the Academy, quite an honor to be invited. Well keep these travel papers with you, and you shouldn't have any trouble. Just don't get caught without them. Welcome to Gauldin, enjoy your stay."

Seraphine nodded, calming down her nerves a bit as the woman approved of her papers. "It is indeed a honor. I better make my way there soon."
She then put her papers away safely again and passed the border checkpoint. A whole weight was lifted of her shoulders, but she was still nervous about arriving to the actual academy.

Enigma was in his dragon form, gliding lazily through the skies. The black dragon was flying high up in the sky over the mountain ranges, and would soon be crossing the Gauldinian border. He did not seem to pay any mind to the border, as he did not even know it existed.
The black dragon eyed the rolling mountains below as he passed over them, and crossed the border and was now flying above Gauldin's lands.

Just like the last time someone tried to skirt Gauldin's border by air, two airships appears to intercept. A magically amplified voice echoes from the lead ship. "You have entered Gauldish air space, set down and proceed through the check point. Or you will be shot down." On each ship a trio of mages begins preparing group offensive magic.

The guards look down at the shadow on the ground, then up at the dragon as it passes. The younger guard turns to his supervisor in amazement.
"Is that a dragon?"
The older guard squints up at the dragon.
"Nope. That's an inland albatross."
The younger guard looks incredulously from the dragon to his supervisor.
"That's definitely a dragon. What's an inland albatross, anyway?"
"It's an albatross that flies over land, sonny."
"There's no such thing."
"Of course there is. I've eaten one."
"You have?"
"You don't get to be my age without eating a few, sonny."
"But...why haven't I heard of them?"
"Because you're young and dumb. We don't tell you young'uns secrets like inland albatrosses until you're ready."
"Wow...hey! I'm not dumb!"
"Yeah you are."
"Am not!"
"You showed up to patrol with your pants on backwards last week."
"That doesn't count! I was sleepy!"
"You were sleepy because you stayed up too late the night before. That's called being dumb."
"It's called having a life!"
"Sure. I had a life once, sonny."
"What happened?"
"I ate an inland albatross."
"...what happened?"
"It was the best thing I ever tasted. It was so good, I spent the next three years looking for one."
"Wow...that tasty, huh?"
"Uh huh. That's why we don't tell you young'uns about them. You'll waste your lives searching for one."
"So...did you find one?"
"Yup. It wasn't as good."
"Aww..."
"That just goes to show, sonny."
"What?"
"It's not the quality of the bird, but the quality of the gravy."
"You sure know a lot, ol' man..."
"You don't get to be my age without learning a lot, sonny. One day, you'll have some sense in your head."
"I hope so...was it so good that you'd chase after it on an airship?"
"Yes. Why?"
"Because airships are chasing the inland albatross."
"See what I mean? Delicious bird."
"Wow."
The two guards return to their posts.

The dragon cranes it's head to look at the pair of airships approaching it. Two reptilian eyes, one ice blue and one brown peer at the airships but otherwise, the dragon doesn't seem to acknowledge the magical voice. The dragon growls, baring it's teeth at the ship as a trail of smoke streams from its mouth and nostrils as if flies along.
A split second later, the dragon would dive, gaining speed quickly and losing altitude as well. Enigma had no idea what the ships were or why they were there, but for now he would attempt to flee from them as they outnumbered him two to one. He was being chased deeper into Gauldin's airspace however, and flying quite fast now.

The frigates are the smallest class of air ship, only a bit larger than Enigma himself, and as such keep pace with the dragon. The ships begin to prepare their on board ballista as well, and the mages continue to channel power. Messages are sent, to patrol ships further ahead, and they prepare to intercept. The voice resounds once again.
"This is your last warning. You will set down, or you will be put down."
